Having recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary on Union Street, Perry’s remains an enormously popular San Francisco institution. Perry Butler initially opened Perry’s in 1969, bringing to Union Street the hustle and bustle of the neighborhood saloons of New York’s Upper East Side. The blue and white checked tablecloths, hexagonal tiled floor, wood-paneled memorabilia clad walls, and menu of American classics produced an atmosphere that has held true today-- comfortable, inviting and cool.

Loved the ambiance for lunch. Loved my salad and my guest enjoyed her salad, sitting outside, parallel to Union Street. It was a ladies lunch, just me and my adult granddaughter, very rare and very special.......Six more granddaughters to go....

Perry's has been here for many years & has consistently provided good food, service & ambiance. They were good 30 years ago on Union Street & at their other former location in Jackson Square.

We had reserved an outside table though when we arrived there were not available. The hostess didn't apologize but seated us inside where it was noisier. I won't return unless there's an outside table available.

Excellent magnolia salad with freshly cooked chicken. Tomato bisque was a hit with our daughter and we all loved the warm apple crisp. We know this restaurant gets lively and loud during the main dinner hour so we opted for an early (quieter) seating which got us a prime table at the window to people watch. Great service from the moment we checked in until the moment we left. Perry's is our top choice for a casual meal in the Marina because the menu is so eclectic that we're each able to find exactly what we're looking for and prices are good. Service is always good but this time it was excellent. We've been before - we'll go again!

Never a disappointment, but not outstanding either. 4 of us lunched in the front room on a pleasant weekday. Menu hasn’t changed much over the years, but choices adequate. Our party had 2 salads, a burger and a short rib plate. Each item was well prepared and presented. The Cobb salad seemed the pick of the litter. Wine and beer selections appeal to all tastes. Perry’s continues to be a wonderful place for friends to gather without pretense.

We went on a Friday at 6:30pm and the place was bustling. We had a reservation and were seated right away. We had poke and grilled artichokes for appetizers. Three of us had petrale sole accompanied with a nice selection of vegetables and creamy mashed potatoes which we enjoyed very much. The other had spaghetti with meatballs and enjoyed it as well. The prices were reasonable, service was great, atmosphere was fun. Will definitely return.

The french onion soup was not as good as before and those of us that ate it all got sick during the night...You need better acoustics it's way too loud in the restaurant. Food was not as good as before. Great service though.

Had a really good meal with my husband and our granddaughter. Enjoyed fried calamari to start and then had generously portioned entrees. Ribs for hubby, Petrale sole for me - tasty! Our granddaughter was unimpressed with the kids menu and ordered the filet mignon with her choice of two sides - steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and she devoured it. We shared a yummy brownie with vanilla ice cream and left very satisfied. Great evening!

I think this place is more about bar food than a dinner place, menu is extensive but I was not impressed at all with the food. Service was great and the place is clearly a local bar but would not recommend as a restaurant.

My daughter and I have been going to Perry’s since she was a little girl attending St.Vincent de Paul. So, we decided to spend Mother’s Day at Perry’s this year. We had a great table for two in the window, food and service as always, is fun and very good. Plus, it’s nice to cater to a San Francisco staple. It helps to know that Perry is such a nice person too. I have great memories of him from back in the day! A great place for a lady to have brunch, lunch or dinner alone as well. We love Perry’s on Union Street! Thank you!

Perry’s is San Francisco! Founded in 1969 as an homage to New York City pubs, this place is still buzzing on Union Street. Since the the pandemic Perry’s invested in an abundance of sidewalk & parklet outdoor seating. For indoor or outdoor dining, the food & beverages still stand the test of time. I highly recommend Perry’s!

Enjoyed a lovely lunch at Perry’s on Union St. yesterday with two family members who had never been there & had asked me to suggest a favorite restaurant. They loved it, and so do I! The food, excellent service & ambiance have brought me & my immediate family back to Perry’s for the past 40 years. Perry Butler has done a fine job of running his restaurant for over 50 years!!!

We had a lovely birthday dinner with great food and service. Only problem was the large table right beside us who were unbelievably loud but this wasn't Perry's fault. If you want to have a quiet conversation we'd advise booking after 8 pm.
