A classic Greek restaurant that's been around since the 80's, and still holds up today.
Lovely restaurant, food is very good. Only one observation more than criticism. Bus boys tried 3 times to take away appetizer dish of spreads whilst clearly still being used. Then with the table full of breadcrumbs from the delicious pita, instead of sweeping away breadcrumbs they just plonked the main course (wonderful Branzino) straight on top of a clearly 'dirty' table. Just a question of training I think but didn't spoil the evening. I suspect owners would be disappointed in their staff to find out.
This is a wonderful Greek restaurant that is a delight to eat in. The drinks, wine and food selections are delicious and the staff is very nice. There are an assortment of tables in various connected rooms which lends a sense of intimacy to the space. We would highly recommend.
Really enjoyed our evening ! Excellent service, friendly waiter who was eager to please. Delicious food; salad, fish, and lamb chops. Would recommend they add a wine list, rather than wine by the glass as the only option.
The food is always bursting with flavor, from the salad to the spanikopita, from the branzino to the various salmon entrees. The staff is always gracious & helpful, the ambiance is relaxing & beautiful, & the host (Phillip) welcomes everyone with a warm smile. Been dining here for years--love this treasure!
It's wonderful place. Must try grilled octopus.
Top-notch Greek cuisine, friendly service, reliably pleasant.
I've been wanting to go back for so long, craving the Octopus dish and the app platters...eggplant, cucumbers!
Even the bread was at least a day old!
Great food and service. The best Greek in NYC!!!
All of the grilled fish is terrific and the octopus is to die for!
Very good food, although the service was relatively slow at the end
Food and service were terrific as always.
Great server. Delicious food. Would go back
The food and service are always excellent. You have to try to Octopus, it is amazing. This time we also had the scallop special and it was delicious as well. I can not say enough good things about Periyali. Just go try it, you will not be disappointed.
Restaurant beautifully decorated for the occasion
After 30 years, Periyali is still as good as it always has always been. After traveling to Greece it is clear that the food is authentic and delicious. You can't go wrong here.
Great long-time neighborhood stalwart that remains relevant by preparing and serving authentic and elegant upscale Greek fare with panache. Never disappoints.
It was very quiet at lunch and sitting in the back section of the restaurant, under the skylight was sublime.
As an Astoria native and half-Greek person, I was shocked to find Greek food this good in Manhattan. The salmon and spinach baked in phyllo dough was unreal. Great ambiance, great service, will return.
We love this restaurant !
Never disappoints. Food and service are always spot on.
Our first try on this restaurant and its easy to locate. The food that they all serve taste good and the server Alex was very friendly. We’ll definitely recommend Periyali to all of my friends and family.
Salmon with spinach and “masa filo” is excellent!!!
The food was wonderful and the service was great. The lamb chops were amazing.
There are both more upscale and more low cost old school options, but, IMHO, this still offers a very good overall value proposition (food quality, fair though not cheap pricing, service, bar, ambience) for Greek food in Manhattan. Two other points about Periyali: the staff and service are great; and the menu is stronger on meat offerings than fin fish (unlike some other Greek places).
Service and atmosphere was excellent especially for a Friday night. I would suggest getting the regular menu and not Restaurant Week.
Glad we went for Restaurant week, as it is rather expensive. My friend and I enjoyed it very much. Only negative comments are I couldn’t see a wine list by the glass, so didn’t know what the cost of the glass of wine was and the octopus appetizer was quite small.
Always delicious! Good selection of Greek wines too!
Overall very good but not remarkable
Good food. Good service.
Horrible experience. Had to send back my salmon 4 times and the owner of the restaurant proceeded to yell at me instead of trying to get his kitchen to make the salmon as requested from the menu. They even left it on the bill! Will never return.
Great grilled sea bass
Lovely atmosphere, good food with excellent portions. This was a great place to take my client who thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The service was very caring and nice .When we couldn't stay for dessert they packed it up for us to take home and again, were very generous!
I have been to Periyali before in the past, and it has continued to impress me every time that I go.
We loved it. Three of us had dinner. We had not been to Periyali in several years and could not imagine why. Food was wonderful, service was perfect, tables were spread sufficiently far apart that we could have a private conversation. We will all go back again soon.
Always good food and service. Deserts are always good too.
What gem of a restaurant!! We went here for restaurant week and were really happy with everything. We needed up being the last ones in the spot we had such a pleasant time. Definitely coming back to enjoy more Greek cuisine.
Best Greek Restaurant in New York City!!! Great staff and amazing food!!!
When a restaurant treats all their clients the same during Restaurant Week, they are tops.... but when the food is absolutely outstanding they get 5 stars. Everyone in our group was so impressed. Thanks for 30 years and to 30 more. It is as fresh as the day you opened.
