Went in on Wednesday after making reservations for 6:30. Didn't leave until 8:30pm.... Because, service was slow. It was a beautiful day outside so we sat outside. Our waiter/ waitresses was nowhere to be found. We had to stop a waitress walking by. A manager came to take our drink order... Someone else finally took our order.... Drinks did not come out until we asked a different waitress to please check on our drinks.... We wanted a second round... Waited for another long time , had to stop someone again, and ask for another round... This time it was a different manager. Got our food. Puffy tacos were not good so my son did not eat them. My food was good. We got the check.... So I went to the restroom.... It was disgusting. The first two toilets we're covered in bodily fluids..... I was so happy I didn't see that before I had my meal! My friends recommend this place. But they said it was never this bad.
Very disappointed. Lot of customers go there as we tried to go the night before and it was packed. Can't see why some many flock there. I made a reservation for the night that I went. Reservation was honored. Chairs and tables were too close. My grandson kept having to move to let people by. Service was average. Waiter had bigger tables to wait on, I guess. The chip and dip arrived. Dip too salty. Then, the food arrives. I had the Mexicana Steak. Expected it to be a little spicy. It wasn't. The charro beans had no flavor. The steak strips were tough and gristlely. Couldn't chew it. Worst meat that I have ever eaten. My family commented that their food was too salty. Expecially the refried beans. The manager did come over to ask how the food was. I tend to be frank. Told her my steak was the worst that I have ever had. She did comp my meal. Regardless, I would have paid anyway. But, I do appreciate the offer.
I will NOT recommend it to anyone. Nor will I go back.
Valentine’s Date Dinner
We arrived a few minutes late for our reservation. But there wasn’t a problem because there were plenty of tables. We were seated and waited 15 minutes without any water or acknowledgement from a server. At that point I got up and walked out. Too bad. I heard the place is good. But they lost a customer of family of 7.
Terrible, terrible food! We have hosted two parties in the back room, and dined at least 20 times at this location, and have never had such a bad overall experience. My daughter's fajita plate meat was fatty and had a bad taste. They took it back, but she was so grossed out, she wouldn't order something else. I was also surprised to be charged an extra $1.00 for a tiny cup of extra cheese with the fajitas! My tortilla soup was cold, tasted like dishwater, and was lacking chicken, tomatoes, cheese etc. I had to ask for the tortilla strips. I expected two regular shrimp tacos-was served three mini tacos with tiny shrimp on doey corn? tortillas, with a sprinkle of lettuce, tomato, and cheese, and no sauce (menu said sauce). My husband's enchiladas had large lumps of potato, and the dish was just ordinary. Even the sodas (Pepsi) did not taste good. We are not returning, if this is your new menu. We did not want to make a scene and complain about so many things, but we all left feeling hungry!!! Hope you get someone to work on the quality of your dishes.
Waitress was very friendly and provided good service.
Food was good, our waiter was very polite... People at the next table were rather loud, but overall... Good experience...wonderful outdoor playground for the kids!
We normally go to Bandera store which is so much better. The fajitas there are superior to all. Sonterra was very loud, the fajitas were tough, peppers and onions were not grilled or soft and the service was slow.
I was very , very disappointed.
We sampled several menu items including queso flameado, street tacos, chicken poblano, burrito, enchiladas, shrimp tacos and more. All was well prepared and tasty.
Great food, atmosphere!
We made our reservation on OpenTable, thank goodness, as we were “greeted” by a not so chipper hostess who informed us it would be a 20 minute wait. When we let her know we as made a reservation, she looked and said fine, follow me, and this we were seated.
The chips and salsa were sooo good. The warm, smoky salsa was super flavorful and addicting! I got a frozen drink, their signature Parrot something. It was okay. My husband got a beer. Both were under $4 each. The flaming queso was entertaining and super tasty! It’s not a chip dipping queso, but with the corn tortillas, I was in heaven! The carne guisada was tender and perfection. The relleno was okay with a thick egg batter coating. Try the relleno/noon side dish! Amazing!!!
We'd been traveling all day and were famished. Hotel staff recommended and it was a great idea! Our server was a great guy who's name i don't recall.
Great time with co-workers and the happy hour food and drinks were the best! We are planning our next get together at Pericos!
The food it was salty - I had the mole enchiladas hardly any mole - rice and beans super salty . my husband had enchiladas verdes and not enough salsa either and super salty - we have been going to pericos at bandera and it’s much better the taste of food
What a great find, we only went there because it was close to my husband's work. Great food and service
It was ok, but servers were very busy, took a long time to be greeted and waiter really did not have time to explain the menu or provide options for us. There were many kids and a nice playground, this restaurant seems more for families than for couples on a date.
A few years ago I had the fajita beef & it was ok. This time I had the Steak Chipotle & my friend had the carne asada. The steak, even though, cooked medium rare, had a lot of fiber to it & was difficult to cut through. Not only that, for some reason, it had a bitter taste. My friend's thin asada was overcooked & tough. I finally complained to the manager & she was nice enough to have the kitchen cook a fajita beef taco for me but it was dry & not much flavor. The HEB fajita beef steak had better flavor than this one. Unfortunately this was one of the worse meals we had out of all the Open Table experiences & I don't think I will be going back again.
Cameron-san was very excellent serve for us today. Thank you so much and I am looking forward to seeing Cameron soon. Hiro
Great service. Immediately, we were served chips and warm salsa when we arrived. Very attentive to our group of 7.
Not very good service and the chicken was undercooked. The floor was covered in dirt. Tables were sticky like they hadn’t been wiped properly.
Experience was good, except open table emailing me that we didn’t keep our reservation which was not the case.
We arrived just before closing but despite being the end of the night we received great service and the food was delicious. The empanada and queso appetizer was delicious!!
Great happy hour specials. Love the playground and patio seating for a party of 5 with kiddos!!
We had never been to that location and will NEVER return. We sat for 10 minutes before we were even greeted by our waitress. We then proceeded to wait 45 minutes before our food got to us and the restaurant was half empty. They had a live guitarist that was so loud we couldn’t even hear each other at our tiny booth. When we asked if there was a way that they could help with the volume they told us no. We asked 3 times before we could get napkins or silverware. I was having a cocktail and wasn’t even asked if I would like another. When our food did arrive after 45 minutes it was STONE COLD. When we spoke to the manager she just said I’m sorry about all that and I hope you come back. Well I can assure her we won’t and I’ll make sure to pass the word to my clients to not waist their time or money either.
Thank you Pericos for accommodating our large of party of 20 at 8pm
Chris our waiter was wonderful and so efficient. We had a wonderful time on the back patio Sunday night and we weren't at all rushed even though you closed at 9pm.
We enjoyed the atmosphere and delicious food and several pain killers :) everything was perfect thank you for the hospitality and wonderful service! God bless you
While I still prefer the Bandera location for the food the noise level and the addition of the outside area here is better. Both offer good food at a competing price.
USED TO BE favorite restaurant, but after two visits of unappetizing food...Only good thing was Tomas, the waiter, who really tried to do a good job. My chile rellano tasted really weird, and I only ate a few bites. Took it home, and it still tasted disgusting (cleaning fluid). My husband's fajitas were dry and tasteless.
Was not as good as I remembered and service was just okay. Patio was very nice and allowed children to play while parents eat. However just seemed a bit run down and less vivacious. We are during the weeks so that could be part of the issue.
When arriving my wife was told that the playground was part of a reservation with the patio. The main reason why we decided to make reservations here. The service was horrible, about 25 minutes after sitting down we only received water. The waitress did not come to the table even after asking two times to take the order for food. This all while my 2 year old son was hungry. So she decided to walk out , this wasn't the first time we got bad service but tried to give them a second chance let's just say that won't happen ever again. We left no sorry and went to la hacienda less then 4 minutes away.
Nothing too special about this place. Food was good. Service could have been a bit better. Maybe a second chance in the future.
Waitress was obviously not in a good mood and perhaps overwhelmed, maybe next time staff would have more experienced servers for bigger parties
Bad service received discount for the long wait to take our order.
A good restaurant but not above ordinary. Food was good; atmosphere not to my liking.
Good, good, good
When we arrived our table was not quite ready but the hostess did quote 10 minutes for wait and it was. The majority of our table (9 people) ordered salads and it took about an hour to get served our food. The salads were nothing special, at all. Super disappointed. I don't know what happened to the service that day but it was non existent. My husband had to go up to the bar to order our drinks on three separate occasions. At one point, we had had three different servers at our table, it was chaotic. The manager was awesome and always is everytime we visit! He always has great stories to tell us and even gave us dessert, on the house, for our trouble.
Would have really liked it except the music was so loud even our waitress couldn't hear our order, nevertheless talk with our friends. We loved the soft choices of music and the harmonies were terrific! We loved all those songs! But soft music is supposed to be soft, not blaring.
Our waitress went to tell the manager and they did turn it down just a bit. At least then we could hear each other if we almost yelled.
But alas, after a few more songs, they turned the volume up again. Too bad, because except for the loudness, we enjoyed this duo and the food. Wait staff very nice, too.
Not sure if we will ever go again.
The food was good for the price.
Our experience was average. They seem to be a little under staffed. Even though we had reservations, we waited about five minutes before any even greeted us at the host stand. The food was pretty good and the live music was enjoyable.
Food was good, but we were a group of 14 people and several of them, got the wrong order.
The food wasn't very good, the restaurant was dirty and loud, and the service was terrible.
