Perch Pub - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
We arrived at Perch Pub and had to wait a strong ten minutes for beers to arrive before dinner. I ordered a soup and had to wait a long time for that to arrive. No sooner did the soup arrive then my meal on top of that. Our server was not observant and struggled to identify the problems we had for dinner. Then, my friend ordered a Rueben and asked for mustard no thousand island. When he sandwich came soggy and sloppy, no mustard was given but thousand island on the side. I have been to this place before and had excellent service with food; however, this visit was not enjoyable at all.
Happy hour can't be beat, but it gets crowded. They play good music. It can get a little loud, but it's fun and high energy. All ages.
Food is also surprisingly good. Better than you might expect actually. Love the veggie burger, fish tacos, and fries.
Nice views of city. They get you in and out if you are seeing a show.
I really wanted this to be Terriffic, alas it was serviceable. My most needed feature for the day's pre-matinee luncheon was location, and for that it was perfect...a ten!! So, just for a drink before or after a performance at any of the Avenue of the Arts/ Broad Street venues it should be okay. Good simple wine list, extensive beer list, some interesting sounding entre offerings, but we chose main dish salads. Greens were overly wet, and unnessarily cold, with watered down or very light dressing. My partner ordered cranberry juice which was also watered down by ice.
Maybe another day, another time, another menu...
I had been to the Perch Pub on two previous occasions, but only ever ordered drinks and "snacks". Those had been great so I decided to try for dinner this time. My food was delicious! Got the Italiano sandwich and it was really good. Comes with a house salad, but I substituted that for Caesar salad which was also good. Was a yummy filling meal. The Malanga Chips with garlic aioli dip are really good- I've gotten them all three times that I have been here now. The place was packed on a Thursday night so I am glad that I made a reservation. The other two times I had gone it was almost empty, but once was the day after a snow storm so that may have had something to do with it. Nice big windows and a nice view of Broad Street from the second level "perch"! Will definitely be returning to try even more menu items!
We had dinner here on Friday, March 4. I had the salmon dinner which was very dry. It seemed it it was sitting under the hot lights for a long while. My friend had the burger. This was a good choice. This is a burger and sandwich place NOT for real dinners. My mistake.
Was there for lunch. The food was very good. They have a nice beer list. The service was very good and friendly.
However, they are on the second floor. They do not have an elevator just a spiral staircase. If you have problems with steps, you may want to go elsewhere.
The good news about this delightful neighborhood gem is that the food ,service and overall ambiance are first rate in every respect. The bad news is that it will be closing soon so it enjoy it while it lasts.
I booked my reservation through OpenTable which must hold some kind of clout with the ownership so even on a busy Sunday pre Kimmel Center engagement my partner and I were seated in one of the best tables in the house overlooking the busteling street activity below.
Now, as far as the food goes there is one thing I would strongly suggest trying and that's the Philly spring rolls. They're a small version of the famous Philly cheesecakes. Served in warm baked crust they're filled with rib eye stake, sautéed onions , cheese and made to be dipped in their special house made spicy ketchup. Absolutely delicious ordered as an appetizer.
A variety of main course dishes are offered . We selected the grilled angus meatloaf , home made mashed potatoes along with fresh veggies and the fish and chips platter. Both excellent choices. A small but decent desert menu is available to top off your meal.
There's no lacking in the variety of liquid libations available and the place prides itself in the many different brews of beer on tap. You shouldn't leave thirsty.
I urge you visit this establishment before it fades into a distant memory, you won't be sorry you did.
Great beer selection. Food was excellent. View and location is great. Only problem is slow service; looked like not enough wait staff for the crowd. Recommend it for the things I mentioned but not if you're in a hurry to get in and out. Worth the wait if you have the time.
We've been to the Perch Pub many times and the food and service are always great. This last Friday. I was a bit late getting downtown from Bucks County due to a major slow-down on I-95. We had tickets to the theater to see a tribute to Nate King Cole. We were about 15 minutes late for our reservation at Perch and I had called ahead to advise them. Somehow, although the place was packed when we arrived, they were able to seat us and rushed our dinners out in ample time to make the theater. The folks at Perch and their service attitude made our evening a very pleasant one. We're anxious for them to find a new location before the demolition of their building for a new high-rise occurs in the Spring.
My wife picked this spot because it was close to the Academy of Music. We got there to find out, we had actually made the reservation for the wrong night. Although they were packed , they accommodated us with a little wait within in minutes. Our goal was to eat something light and quick which was easy with the wonderful menu. We had great wait staff attention to our needs. I would recommend this place for it coziness and great service. We will be back with a little more time to sample more of the menu.
Awesome craft beer selection! Fun & energetic atmosphere. The wings were really good but I can't say the same for the rest of the food. Not that it was bad but my fish tacos really lacked much flavor. But I will say the ingredients were very fresh. I'll definitely return just for the beer & wings.
We have been to the Perch Pub many times. It's our go-to place as it is situated in close proximity to the theaters on Broad Street (Avenue of the Arts). For such gourmet food, the prices are reasonable, and the beer list is outstanding. Service is good and attentive. Reservations recommended.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience. The only negative was the size of my wife's salmon salad, which was one of the specials. The salmon itself was ok, not a huge portion by any means, but the salad itself was tiny. So tiny that my wife actually ordered an appetizer after her meal. The chicken tinga nachos were tasty, but there wasn't much chicken at all. The black beans were really good though. We would definitely go back for a pre-theater meal, but this time we would specifically ask for a salad that warrants an $18 tag.
My Scotch Filet was delish. Fancy name for a cheesesteak.
I liked the fact that brunch was till 3pm. The food was very good and the $5 drink was good also. We are seniors, so climbing the stairs was doable but unexpected. (need an elevator). This was our first time at Perch and we will definitely be back. It took a little while for us to be waited on, but the waiter was friendly and cute. It's a great location , close to the theaters and transportation.
We always enjoy Perch Pub before a Center City performance. The wait staff and maître de are friendly and accommodating, and we always get to our concert in plenty of time. The food is good, too! We highly recommend it for a reasonably priced and satisfying meal before a concert or play.
usually we enjoy any meal that we have at the Perch. However, this time it was different. The server did not know the specials and did not appear to want to find the answers for us when we inquired about them. My husband did get one special, which was listed as Semolina crusted Squid, but turned out to be Plain old calamari. It was listed only as a special, not specified as a starter or a dinner, so we were surprised and disappointed that it was served as a starter. The sauces that they offered after my husband requested something other an tarter sauce were pretty good. My steak dinner was very good and enough for both of us to share given the disappointing turn of my husband's selection.
I've also noticed a change to the population of the Perch as well. Since Vallari closed downstairs, there seems to be a much older crowd of people in the dining room, whereas the younger people stay more to the bar area. The vibe has definitely changed, which is s shame. Wondering what will happen come St. Patrick's weekend.
Still love the Perch, but some concerns as to the direction they are going right now.
This was the second time my wife and I have eaten at Perch Pub. The food was good but not outstanding. The wait staff was very attentive, even giving a free beer when it took more than a few minutes to come out. Atmosphere is very nice and the views of Broad St. are outstanding.
Perch Pub was a great brunch spot. Fair prices for the most part and have cheap Brunch alcoholic drinks. They were very accommodating for a large group (10 people) and we were in a very comfortable part of the restaurant which we really appreciated. We had more than enough room. Would definitely come back again.
