Add to this Pera's offering of regional breads and desserts made in-house with a full array of compatible California wines, Greek, Turkish, and domestic beers. And finally top it all off with Turkish coffee.
I brought 7 others here to introduce my friends to the deliciousness that is Turkish breakfast. Other than a friend’s dish being forgotten and coming out much later than the others’, everything was excellent. If I were the restaurant manager, I would have comped that dish. Oh well. Like I said, everything else (including the late dish when it finally arrived) was excellent, so I will definitely be back often. Service was good; the food was delicious—friends who didn’t get the Harem breakfast for two, which is what I recommended to everyone, definitely regretted it, but they were still happy with their choices. As a Turk, I can say that this is authentic Turkish breakfast (of course, it would cost much less in Turkey, but we aren’t in Turkey and that’s the point—it’s worth every penny to be able to get the food I miss here in San Francisco). Highly recommend it. Great birthday breakfast spot!
Great food and great service. My reservation was at 6:45 on a Saturday and the restaurant was pretty empty when I sat down, but it quickly filled and had a great atmosphere. I'd recommend the flaming halloumi cheese with medjool dates, although I wish it came with more dates!
Tasty food. Great service.
Excellent food and excellent service. Highly recommend. We absolutely will be back. The Iskender he was brilliant. Really everything we had was great.
Pera is our neighborhood jewel. Beautiful, calm ambiance; really delicious food; generous portions; caring service and excellent value. The people who own this restaurant really care, and their pride shows. It is a pleasure to support them (we take all our friends here).
One of the best Turkish restaurants I've ever been to. Great food and under priced in my opinion.
Loved it! Hosts were very pleasant. Atmosphere was romantic and low-key. Food was authentic and delicious! Recommend the manti and dessert.
Food was good but the simit was dry and not fresh.
Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious -- burrata & pear, octopus salad, spanakopita, dipping trio, kofte, halikarnas, Pera talas boregi, manti, Iskender, and of course the amazing bird nest. Yes all for the four of us. Oh and don't forget dessert!
Excellent Mediterranean food, well prepared. Service good even at busy dinner times. Street parking not hard to find.
Party of 5 1 dish way over cooked and 1 dish at least 15 minutes after everyone else served
In terms of Greek food taste was bland
Delicious lamb burger with tasty sauteed potatoes and very nice service.
Pera is one of the best Turkish/Mediterranean restaurants in the Bay Area, if not the best. I have also tried their brunch menu before and very satisfied. Nice people, good service and yummy food. I must have been there at least 6-7 times now.
Menu looked great and we had some tasty meals. Two comments - service was slow on a non busy night and some of the food came out luke warm. I am more than happy to give another shot and know service could be better especially given the tasty food.
Food was absolutely delicious. We definitely will be back ;-)
We had an early reservation so there were not many people there and it was quiet. Very good menu with a number of options. Let us taste wine to choose. Ambiance was good, staff attentive. Found parking close by.
Nice ambiance. The service was superb. The food was a bit 'meh' -- but I think that one can do better if one orders carefully. I had the Pera Talas Boregi, and it was bland and boring. My son who had the duck liked it, but it was nothing all that special. I might look for items on the menu that are a bit more spicy/exciting. The other son ordered a couple of small plates, and he enjoyed them a bit more.
But overall it was a very pleasant dinner -- had time to chat, catch up, never felt rushed. Nice setting and the staff were totally wonderful.
First date 😊
Delicious Turkish food.
Outstanding food and service! We loved that so many of the dishes were “shareable”.
Good food, good value, nice low-key neighborhood restaurant
The food was all very delicious with many gluten free, vegetarian and dairy free options.
I really loved the decor, a lot of thought went into the wall decorations.
The staff was very friendly and shared a lot of the cultural backgroun of Turkey and its people.
Excellent, friendly service combined with good food make this a great spot. The menu is very diverse and offers a number of different interesting dishes. I can't remember the names because they are Turkish words, but we had scallops wrapped in potatoes, pear and buratta salad, and fried patties of shredded zucchini and other ingredients. House wine -- both red and white -- was good.
Cute Place. Friendly staff. Some different dishes than your standard med palace.
Everything we tried (which was most the appetizer menu) was very good. The burrata with pears and pistachios was outstanding! It would even make an excellent dessert!
I had the lamb burger. It was okay. I've had better elsewhere. But I will return to the restaurant to try their other entrees.
The food ranged from very good to outstanding (for a few things like the octopus salad) ; the service was perfect, adequately attentive but not intrusive; and the noise level (from 6:30-8 PM) was initially quiet and rose only to the low end of moderate as the restaurant filled up. Our party of 4 plus a baby was comfortable and felt welcome. The overall dining experience was extremely pleasant. It is rare to have such a good dinner in such pleasant surroundings for what is, by San Francisco standards, moderate prices.
Great service with very friendly staff. Wonderful neighborhood place to hang out with friends and enjoy good food and wine.
Had high hopes for this place based on the reviews... unfortunately the food was disappointing. That lamb shish kebab was pretty bland and unevenly cooked. Some pieces were super well done others were not... I’d ordered medium rare. The rice it came with had dried clumps.
Fantastic dining. Excellent service so many choices on the menu. Very generous portions.
Always good to be at Pera. Love the new menu.
Best lamb in town! Consistent good food.
My friend and I were disappointed both with the food, the noise and especially the service. Even the Baklova was not that great. I was disappointed because I was looking forward to eating there. I like that type of food. Sorry for a poor review.
We stopped in, checked in a little early and waited outside. The host forgot about us and seated two other pairs while we were waiting, then set us aside after we walked in again. So, not great. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. Food was delicious but took forever to get to us, though our order was not large or complicated.
Great good and beers here! The pulpo appetizer was really delicious!
Very good quality food at competitive prices. Good wine list.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Traditional Turkish food with Turkish wines - delicious!
Wednesday are half off wines and great food.
Really was unsure of what to expect from Pera for our group of 15 as none of us had been there before, but we all had the best experience and literally have not been able to stop talking about the food there all week long! The host, Martin, was exceptional and our group felt like he was family almost instantly. He made many suggestions for us, of which we accepted and were not disappointed! We shared our meal family style and there was not a single dish that was served that any of us would not want to eat again. We had people in our party who were vegan and some who were gluten free and every person enjoyed plenty of tasty food! (Not just side salads like many restaurants offer for people with allergens).
The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the restaurant was well kept and clean. I work for a low-scale restaurant and left this restaurant challenged and inspired to make some changes where I work.
Our group was very blessed to have been able to find this spot last-minute, reserve a table for a large group, and enjoy the food, each other's company, and the help of the staff as well! (Not over the top, but friendly and exactly what you needed.)
As one of our guests says often, well done, you!
We'll be back. Likely within the week.
I only wish we had thought to take photos to share!
I celebrated my birthday with about 10 friends with brunch at Pera. They were excellent. It is not easy finding a table and reserving for that many during brunch hours in the City - Pera offered a small, quiet environment in a friendly neighborhood with ample parking. The staff accomodated even a cake that was brought in from an outside vendor and tolerated us for 3 hours while we leisurely brunched and chatted. Thank you Pera for the amazing service! Oh, and the food is quite good and affordable.
