Terrific good. Very quiet mid week lunch,

Great restaurant. We were 2 couples. My wife and I shared a huge branzino it was delicious. We had a lentil and a minestrone soup they were both delicious.
We were the last ones in the restaurant and no one gave us the “rush act”

This is definitely a place for locals. The Open Table reservation for four did not mean much. We had changed our reservation and received confirmation of the change. When we arrived, there was no table for us. There was a perfect corner booth but that was being reserved for someone else, a group of obvious regulars we arrived after us. We were invited to dine outside (in early November) under a heater. We had drinks outside and waited for a table. When we got the over-sized table, the food and service were good, but the decibel level on a Saturday evening was out of control, so he decided to have dessert elsewhere.
Per Lei is a very welcoming, attractive restaurant with good food and attentive service. We went for an early dinner on a warm October night, so all the doors leading to the sidewalk seating area that wraps around the restaurant were open. The noise from the Second Avenue traffic - buses and trucks in a steady stream - made conversation, at times, almost impossible. The restaurant itself was quiet (6:30 on a weeknight). My noise rating of "Moderate" really means little as it doesn't explain the source of the noise or the contrast between outside and inside.
We will certainly return on a cooler evening!
Simply my favorite restaurant in Manhattan. The food is consistently fresh and fabulous. The service exemplary. The ambiance is spacious, comfortable and the music is devine. Prices are very fair and I have never been disappointed. Mauricio, if you are lucky to get him, is a wonderful, attentive waiter. Try it..
I am not sure how to review. The spaghetti I had was good and so was all the food at the table. Our waitress was also nice and she served us with warmth. But as we were finishing our food, we noticed that the others tables as they were being seated were being offered daily specials while no one offered that to us. And overall the attention given by the others servers and staff to various customers was noticeable. Our waitress was nice, I do not want to detract from her at all. Just saw that the rest of the staff seemed to cater more towards everybody else that was there. I don't know how to explain it but somehow it felt like we did not belong there. And we did not like that feeling so unfortunately my friends and I will not be returning .
Italian trattoria with moderate prices, nice design (love the paintings on the white walls) and interesting dishes. It's also spacious by NYC standards. The outdoor seating is an acquired taste: traffic- and people-watching along busy Second Avenue can get pretty noisy.
Great food in a fun, intimate and festive setting, with outdoor seating when weather permits. Our table was poised halfway inside and outside the restaurant, providing us with a nice view of the passing parade of pedestrians at this Upper Eastside location. The service was a little slow but it was a pretty busy night and the servers were friendly and appropriately apologetic.
This was the first time in decades that I didn't leave a tip. It was apparent that something was amissed as I wasn't the only patron complaining. I over heard one guest request that our waiter didn't continue to serve him. My wife asked for a vodka seabreeze , the waiter had no idea what it was , c'mon this is NYC restaurant/bar scene. Needless to say , no drink came for her. Don't know what to say , the city is full of Italian restaurants . It's easy to fool somebody once , but to stay in business requires so much more. I'm all about second chances but can't see myself revisiting this place anytime soon.
The food was good . I have never in all my years of dining had worse service. In all my life I have never not left a good tip, this was a first for me I left no tip. I was with 2 friends and I recommended this place and I was embarrassed. We had such bad service we said something to the hostess and she said something to the waiter and we thought he was apologizing, instead he told us off. I will never go back. As you will see I don't usually write about a restaurant but this is an experience I won't forget.
Decent food, absolutely terrible service. It was nearly 20 minutes before we could place our orders, then another 30 minutes before we saw our appetizers arrive (and then almost another 20 minutes before our main course came). Over the course of this time, our server checked in with us exactly once. Water glasses sat empty for 15 minutes at a time, and we watched other customers, seated after us, receive their food first. When my wife asked whether our food was coming, the waiter answered "of course" in a way that managed to be both condescending and hurried, as he ran away from us without an explanation.
We will not be going back.
We booked this time for Saturday brunch; brunch menu looked good. Our circumstances changed a little, and we decided a full meal be suit us better. We were delighted to find that we could also order from the regular menu. Choice is always good! Every bite was delicious; wine was delicious!
