Pepperwood Bistro Ratings and Reviews
This is definitely not the place for a nice dinner on New Years Eve. I was disappointed with the modified menu, as it had very little pasta options which was the primary reason for selecting this restaurant. The food we ordered was very good, with the exception of the Yorkshire Pudding which accompanied the prime rib as it was cold, bland and barely edible. The most disappointing aspect was how rushed we felt. Our appetizers were delivered to the table within 5 minutes of placing our order and the entrees were not far behind. Within 50 minutes of being seated our bill was on the table. With a tab close to $300 for 2 people, I’d expect not to be rushed out of there within an hour. Shame, the atmosphere was very nice but I’ll spend my evenings dining at locations more interested in delivering a quality customer experience than driving people through a turnstile.
menu online does not match menu in restaurant. I was there 4 months ago & had a delicious GF dish that has been removed from the menu but not the website. The bartender acknowledged this and stated they could make probably make what I was looking for. I'm celiac & need to be vigilant about my intake and because I had had no reaction from the meal 4 months ago, I knew I could be safe with that same dish. However, I don't know all the ingredients so duplicating it on my say so seemed out of place. I didn't see understanding of GF needs from this bartender so I opted for menu options & kept my fingers crossed. I was so disappointed with what I chose. We asked for a table away from the door because of the chill and were placed in the back with one of the chairs to be in the pathway to traffic. We were moved to a corner over by the bar but it was too cold. We chose not to move again to prevent eye rolling. Yes, we had reservations. Of the three dishes we ordered, only one was good (prime rib). Perhaps my experience 4 months ago heightened my expectations for this visit too but it was quickly derailed from the time we entered. Doubtful we'll be back.
Service good. However missing a few things that I usually like when dining out. For example no bread and no water unless you ask. Made a reservation if you weeks ago but we were given a terrible table right beside the front door on a bar height table that was small and not roomy enough for the four of us. They did accommodate our request to move but only had a table by the front in the corner. Overall a good experience the food was well portioned and tasty.
Sunday night dinner for 2 with my wife at Pepperwood. It’s ok. Food was good, no real complaint. Wife has Celiac so need gluten free and they do have great GF options, most of their menu in fact. Short rib risotto was nice, so was the chowder mussel pot (though very salty once you get to the broth). Prosciutto wrapped figs stuffed with chèvre to start, a little quiet tasting considering it’s sweet stuffed with fat and wrapped in salt. Dessert wasn’t great, bread pudding was hard and dense. Service was friendly, but disappeared pretty frequently, especially noticeable on such a slow night.
Decor is definitely dated. Not dirty. Not uncomfortable. But it feels like 1996.
I’d go again but wouldn’t seek it out. Maybe for my next mussel craving. But at a similar price point I’d think if several other places first.
Very nice ambiance with delicious food options. Unfortunately we had a problem with our meal today as one of the steaks came out rare not medium as we ordered. Our server ordered another replacement, however we were not able to dine together. The server did not offer to buy a drink or dessert to make up for the mistake and the manager did not stop by our table. I would expect a better response from the staff or managers in this type of restaurant.
We went to Pepperwoods for my hubby's bday in July and then back in August for mine. Both times we had the absolute pleasure of being served by Gabby. She is personable and attentive and one of the best servers we have come across. I changed uo my dish a little and the chef was bery accommodating. The presentation was very nice and food excellent. Will definitely be back
We had a great time at Pepperwood. Our server (unfortunately I cannot remember her bame) was very attentive and gave her honest opinion of food and drink choices, suggesting a couple of craft beers we became very fond of. The ambiance was cozy with great music providing the backdrop. The food was excellent and brought out in timely fashion. We will be going back!
I ordered the Steak Frites medium rare and asked the server for extra crispy frites. She told me they weren't using their regular fry supplier and to try the ones they were using. The steak arrived well done and the frites were regular french fries under cooked and limp. I informed the server that the steak was overcooked and the fries lacking. She offered to take it back and get me a new one but everyone else at my table had been served and I didn't want to keep them waiting. They removed the meal from our bill, but that is not the point. Honestly, how difficult is it to grill a steak properly to order.
I went here once quite a few years ago and thought it was alright, but i was seriously impressed when we went there on the weekend for a birthday. i can't stop going on about my tex mex burger and sweet potato fries i'm drooling just writing about it. Even though we couldn't et a spot outside our table near the back was super cosy and felt quite private i love the feel of the decor. i'm already planning on going back next weekend!
We went for Mother's Day brunch. I had no idea that you could not order from the regular menu and that brunch buffet was the only option. Their website did not specify that was what was happening for Mother's Day. Although everything was tasty, not sure I would have gone there as I have 2 small children and it was pretty pricy. For 4 adults and 2 children the bill was $300. Of course included in that was 5 alcoholic drinks but still. Would I go back? Yes but maybe not on Mother's Day but just for their regular Sunday brunch menu. Their eggs Benedict are really good!
