Peppercorn's Grille and Tavern Ratings and Reviews
I tried the hand of the chef which is a special that they will not tell you what it is. It was great the dish was braised beef brisket over a truffle infused mac and cheese croquet (awesome). The salad was great and a good size as we split it. We order a pizza as a back up plane in case the special did not turn out well and the pizza was great (the next day). They are connected to a craft brewery (Flying Dreams) which was fun while we waited for our table. The only draw back was the beer delivered at the table was a little flat. Otherwise all good.
Searching for a mid priced but GOOD restaurant in Worcester has been interesting. My son attends college there and we like to meet for dinner on occasion and we've tried several. We were there for Valentines Day. Peppercorns was a great find. It's in a busy area and is kind of tucked in but once inside the restaurant is simple, modern, there was a line for the bar (??) and we sat in the restaurant side. Food was a wonderful surprise, all our entrées were absolutely delicious. Started with huge hot fresh italian bread loaves with cocktails. I had pecan "encrusted" (actually toasted on top, yum) salmon and asked for spinach instead of b. sprouts and came with the most delicious risotto I have ever had. My husband had a mixed seafood dish with a fig sauce, my daughter (both teens BTW loved it) had huge tortellini /red/cream sauce dish with chicken and my son ordered the chef's mystery dinner which we were all nervous about except him (think brawny 6 foot adventurous eater) and had an amazing seafood (salmon and lobster)with fresh asparagus which was outstanding. All dishes under $23 so great value. Desserts were tasty - interesting twist on cheesecake - excellent, sampler one was mediocre, dark chocolate cake very rich. Good cocktail menu, good bourbon choices. Server was excellent, overall a very good meal.
Group of four dined this past Saturday night. I had the Tips And Newburgh which were amazing. Husband had the steak special which was just OK. Very thin cut of steak. Son had one of the Haddock dinners which he said was excellent, and daughter-in-law had the encrusted salmon which she enjoyed both that evening and the next day. The guys love going there for the beer flights. Wine is reasonably priced. Definitely recommend, but make a reservation if you're going on a Saturday night.
Celebrated 40th Birthday with Girlfriends here. There was 7 of us, we were seated in the back room, near the bar. Other larger parties were seated near us, which was great because we were not the only rowdy crowd! Our server was very attentive and helpful with drinks and food items. Everyone enjoyed their meals, I had the Chicken Speziato which I enjoyed; it was very spicy however! In hindsight, I guess it's in the name! The meals description did not indicate spiciness, I am not a picky eater so I ate it and drank more beer as a result! Very pleasant and delicious dining experience, would go back for certain!
The risotto balls and poutine seemed like they were frozen and heated. I was hoping for more of a homemade taste and texture.
The salmon was good but it was farm raised not wild. I suppose for the price one should expect farm raised. The tips and Newburgh was good. The Newburgh was nice and cheesey but the tips were a little tough.
Really a good local restaurant. I would go back. A good go to place with above average quality food with reasonable portions.
The restaurant was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. The food was very good and presented very nicely. My wife had the gluten free chicken parm with the zucchini pasta and I had the swordfish and crab special. Both were great and we would order again. The gluten free brownie sundae was awesome! even if you don't need to eat gluten free. If we are traveling to the Hanover theater for a show again, we will certainly be having dinner here again.
It is a pub, so for a casual lunch at a reasonable price it is fine. Tables are spaced out and away from others so you can have your own conversation. Evening meals here have a more extensive menu and the quality of the meals seem to be better at a higher price, of course, but well worth it.
We didn't know that Monday Night is Pizza and Appertizers Special Night. The food was excellent but the kitchen messed up my wifes order( Salmon burger). When our waitress saw it, she knew that there was a mistake. She didn't take it from the kitchen. It took too much time for her reorder to be delivered. It was not done correctly but we decided not to send it back. We were then offered a free dessert and chose one but Kristen came back very apoligetic that they were out of our choice. She asked if we wanted something else and we just wanted our check. We will return there.
Made reservations based on reviews from two sources. A few minutes late for reserved time, so when we saw other patrons waiting for tables, we greatly appreciated our table not given away. Overall food was good but service was better. As place got busier, bar service a bit slower. Nothing horrible just noticeable when drink arrives when you're almost done dining. Pork bellies and beef medallions were r outstanding. Even ventured to try Chef's Choice... surprise entrée was also good. It's worth trying and returning.
As usual, Peppercorn's did not disappoint us. The food and service were very good--even on a very busy Friday night (good that we had made a reservation on Open Table!). My husband's burger was cooked perfectly (rare, as he has requested), and seafood risotto had generous portions of shrimp and scallops, although the lobster was less plentiful. Next time we go there we'll probably order our favorite dish, the chicken carbonara, which is always excellent.
Great, fun atmosphere. Made a last minute reservation and had no issues. Showed up a bit early and was shown to the bar. Great local beers on tap. Italian cuisine was delicious. Not super private seating but the food was great, the service was great and the beer was great. Will definitely go back.
Ate at this restaurant for a business luncheon. Menu was varied and interesting. Our waitress was friendly & attentive. One of our attendees had some specific food allergy requests which the restaurant was able to accommodate readily. Drinks and food was served timely. Portions were generous and well prepared.
We go here a lot because the food is very good so we are hoping they just had an off nite. Had reservations but had to wait 20 minutes for a table to clear. No apology or offer to get us drinks while waiting. Finally get seated and waited for 10 minutes before any server appeared. Very disappointed with lack of service; an apology goes a long way.. We will return because as I said menu is great and creative. Let's hope service improves.
