We celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary at Peppercorn Grille and we couldn't have chosen a better restaurant. We chose to dine inside and were seated at a center table covered in elegant linens. We started our meal with a delicious fruity wine recommended by our server. For dinner we both chose Filet Mignon and it was so tender. Our side dishes were garlic potatoes(so yummy) and veggies( a variety : excellent). Since it was our anniversary we were pleasantly surprised with lava cake for dessert. It was out of this world and oozing with chocolate sauce. The service we were given from arrival to departure was friendly and professional. I would recommend making a reservation because there were many parties waiting to be seated whereas we were seated immediately with our reservation. Overall we made an excellent choice in dining and will definitely return.
We went to Peppercorn on our anniversary and it was Memorial Day Weekend. The staff had been working non-stop all day and our reservation was at 8:15pm and they still did a phenomenal job of serving all of the guests in the restaurant. The food is amazing (thumbs up to the mushroom and steak chowder!) and the ambiance is the best in Big Bear. You are lucky if you get a reservation to this exquisite dinning establishment.
Very good food, very good service. Would defiitely go back when in the area and would recommend to anyone - probably the best food in Big Bear!
WE visited Peppercorn Grille on Thursday May 26 and the night of our reservation, Friday May 27. WE thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The restaurant has outdoor and indoor dining. We prefer indoor. AS noted in the check boxes above, the restaurant is a neighborhood located in the "Village" area of Big Bear Lake. Great views of the Village and people visiting the village.
Service great and food was prepared to everyone's liking. Wine list is good and we enjoyed our meal.
Peppercorn Grille has been our favorite restaurant to go to for special occasions for a number of years. By far the best steaks I've ever eaten and the garlic mashed potatoes are fantastic. It can be a bit pricey when you get into the finer foods but they do have lower priced items also.
Be sure to get a reservation because it books up just about every night. With a reservation I've never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes after arriving but many times the table was ready. They do have outdoor seating on a first come basis but that gets pretty busy also.
I highly recommend the Peppercorn Grille. It is by far the best place to eat in Big Bear, CA.
Always a favorite spot of ours when we are visiting Big Bear. Good food, good service, good value for the money and the people are always very friendly. Always make a reservations to avoid a wait.
Great food and service but the last several times we have been in, the vegetables have been on the semi-warm side- not hot.
Our waitress was very attentive and friendly, the atmosphere is nice, and the location is prime being right in the center of the village shops. However, we were surprisingly very disappointed. It was a special occasion and we wanted a nice dinner so we chose them because they were rated #1 on Trip Advisor and a friend recommended them. All three of us ordered the rib eye and each of ours was cooked as ordered but were rather thin steaks and very tough to even cut. For $30 each just for the dinner, not including drinks or dessert, we won't go back.
Our experience was wonderful, we plan on returning in the future. The food was EXCELENT! The atmosphere was great!
Filet mignon was very tender, rib eye, not so tender. Didn't care for the sauces, steaks needed flavor, added table salt (yuck), sautéed veggies were yummy.
We had a lovely time. Food was great, service was fitting to the surroundings. No views, located on a street with little lake views.
Great little place! Only flaw - You have to make reservations, you can't just show up...always busy!!
Very nice meal.
If I was given the choice for my last meal it would be the Peppercorn crusted Flat Iron steak. By far the best piece of beef I have ever tasted, period!! Tender, delicious and perfectly cooked every time. I have had steaks costing 2-3 times as much that can't compare. Service has always been fantastic.
If this is the best restaurant in big bear, we're going with fast food on our next visit. My wife's pizza was not what you'd expect for a brick oven pizza (thick, uncooked dough) and my spaghetti bolognese was a pound of spaghetti with chopped canned tomatoes and a ton of garlic - nothing close to a good bolognese.
I have dined at some of the best restaurants in the world. I would say this restaurant is about as close to fine dining as you will get in Big Bear. It wouldn't be notable outside of Big Bear. The steak was flavored well, but not a great quality. The food options are interesting but nothing I haven't seen before. Everyone rants about the crab cakes and they were flavorful and refreshing, but not mind blowing.
Went to celebrate birthday . The food was absolutely delicious!!!!!!
Lovely ambience, location and good food. We had a long wait despite having made reservations a week prior.
Esmeralda, our server didn't bother with refills. After serving our plates, she didn't bother looking over our table. I sat for about 15 minutes without a tea until another lady asked if I needed a refill. After my refill was served by someone else, Esmeralda asked if we wanted to see a dessert menu. All the while, the table behind us, with a larger group had a server go over every 5-10 minutes to check on them.
We had our 4 year anniversary here I had flowers delivered and the staff had it at our table my wife was so happy. The crew there is great. The food outstanding. The tables are great roomy.
We were a tad disappointed after hearing good things about the food & service. It was Valentine's weekend & don't know if that might have had something to do with it.
Good food, on the pricey side. Waiter could've been a bit more attentive for the price of the meal.
delicious food lasagna and ravioli
Very good food, and service.
Peppercorn Grille is always a "must" when I go to Big Bear. It is a special treat. The service is always excellent. The wine selection is reasonable. The food is amazing. The peppercorn encrusted steak is pretty spicy but delicious.
When doing to Big Bear it's mostly about the ski resort. Most people would just for simple / cheap food. Peppercorn is a bit up-scale and more expensive, but you do get better food and service. We had the special peppercorn pork chop and the nut crusted halibut. Both on the overcooked side but the sauce was good. Of course their clam chowder is something to die for, it's just very good. Again given the location, I think this is a great place to go.
I came in with my partner for a romantic dinner at our reservation time 5:30 pm. We were then seated at 6 pm. Our server did not come to us to ask us for drinks or anything for about 10 minutes. About 30 minutes after taking our order, we finally got our salads. On the menu it clearly states that we get French bread, we never did. I personally asked my server three times for this bread while we waited for our entrees to come out. After about an hour after we ordered, we finally got our meal, which was just okay. Nothing to rave home about. I honestly believe that because of our age, our server did not take us seriously. I will never come back again.
Service was great ( Mike) good was excellent! 10 time to eat here, an it's still the best restaurant in Big Bear!!! Next trip go on line and make your reservation, you'll be glade you did! User friendly!
Pefect night to be out, cold, two feet of snow on the ground, great food, great service. We had a very nice dinner. ☺
Overall, this is a strong 3 out of 5 stars. Reservations recommended during peak hours/weekends. It's crowded seating. The servers have to dodge each other constantly. Our waitress seemed tired. Lobster Ravioli and clam chowder was great. Capellini Pormodoro and Macadamia Nut Coated Halibut was average. We would definitely go back to give it a second try on a "not-so-busy" weekend. Maybe then we'd give it a definite 4 out of 5 stars.
We enjoy coming to the Peppercorn Grille when we are in Big Bear and the convenience of making reservations on line. The good food and service make it a very enjoyable experience, and we always look forward to a special dinner at Peppercorn Grille.
Great food, and the service is always great!
This is an excellent restaurant. Each dish was superb, and some were surprisingly excellent. The artichoke hearts appetizer and the crusted salmon entry were both an experience. Highly recommend.
We serious ply live Perrecorn Grill in Big Bear, CA. The entrees and specials are delicious and the quality of ingredients and recipes is very high. We plan to go Peppercorn as often as possible! You will not be disappointed!
We had to wait for our table even though we made a reservation as people were staying longer. But it was not problem as the staff was very polite and went ahead and opened our bottle of wine that we brought and we were able to sit at the small table in entrance and enjoy our wine while we waited. The service and food was excellent, as always. It was noisier than usual because there were several large groups being a Friday night.
I've been willing to try there and finally got a reservation at the right time. Make sure you got the reservation to avoid a long wait, even on a weekday evening near its closing time. I like the food for their taste and portion. The service was nice. I'd visit again on my next trip up there.
My boyfriend and I came here while we were up in Big Bear celebrating our three year dating anniversary. It was small and and cozy. Which was perfect because it was snowing outside. The food was really good, the drinks were tasty and different than you'd find anywhere else. They had a great wine list although I did not partake. The service was very friendly and very professional. My only tip is: If you're making a reservation ask for a booth. We did and we had a nice cozy booth, but the tables looked like they wouldn't have been as comfortable.
Even though it was Thanksgiving the service was excellent, prompt and courteous. The food was delicious. We had a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and everything was hot, cooked just right and delicious!
We go to the Peppercorn Grille for all of our special occasions. The staff are very professional and friendly. The food is delicious, and the drinks are yummy! The atmosphere is fantastic! It is in the Big Bear Village, so for any visitors, it is close to shopping, very convenient.
