Pepper Tree Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I've been waiting to dine at PepperTree for years. I was so pleased we were able to make a reservation for our Silver Anniversary. It was as good as I had hoped for, if not better! The service was excellent, the view was beautiful and the food was spectacular! I would definitely recommend eating here for any special occasion or for a great night out!
Service was a bit spotty at first but improved quickly. We try to avoid Saturday evenings. To quote a restaurateur that we knew "Saturday's are for emergencies". This being my wife's birthday (actually the next day - Sunday - but they are closed on Sunday's), this was an emergency. The food and preparation were excellent. The "house special" is their Pepper Steak which is the best steak my wife has ever had. It is prepared table-side which makes the meal special. One of the more expensive restaurants in town but well worth price. And don't miss the Cherries Jubilee, also prepared table-side.
My partner and I loved the food and the service at Pepper Tree. It was my partner’s birthday and it was the perfect time to try out this new, high-end restaurant. In many ways, they really did not disappoint. The value, though, is really the only reason I would not recommend Pepper Tree to my friends as a restaurant they could enjoy going regularly. On the other hand if one can afford over $250 meals for two and can justify spending that amount regularly; I would say go for it. Pepper Tree experience may become one of the staples in your life that will make this kind of value justification possible.
Outstanding fine dining and service! It made our 50th anniversary memorable and very rewarding. The ambiance was a nice touch and made our two friends, my wife and me very relaxed, and we all had an outstanding experience. We were also amazed by the professionalism and technical knowledge from the staff, from menu items, drink selections, and recommendations for that evening, and especially the friendliness from everyone.
From the first moment we walk through the door. The service was spot-on. Hanging our coats, pulling out the chairs, recommending favorite drinks and dishes. The food was flavorful and serve hot. We had Caesar salad and Bananas Foster made tableside. Thanks for the show and the great service.
Our first disappointing meal at Peppertree. The wait staff had more than one challenge getting our order correct including two (out of six) improperly prepared entrees. Also, for the first time our filets were not tender requiring significant sawing through sinew in all of our meat. More than one of us wanted to request a steak knife. The "standard" table knife just didn't "cut it." In the past the service has been spot on and the fillets have been fork tender. Not this time. Very disappointed for the money paid.
First of all, we usually love this place. I say usually because on this visit things weren’t up to their normal standards.
The French Onion soup was luke warm at best! We had a bottle of champagne with dinner and had about a half bottle left so we asked a waiter to re-cork it for us like we have on many other occasions. He said , “we can’t re-cork champagne”, and walked away. We asked another waiter and he very kindly re-corked it for us.
Additionally, it was my wife’s birthday. They normally recognize that with some small token of acknowledgement. This time nothing!
Not their best showing.
Memorable meal. Everything was top -notch. So was the price. Would really like to see a renovation, inside and out, especially out, for what we paid. Underwhelming as we approached the building. Sea of asphalt, then your teenage friend's 1980s house. Bathroom has never been updated, it seems. Tables and service were appropriate for the price range though. So overall it was worth it for a special occasion. One to remember!
The meal was once again exceptional. I have been dining at the Pepper Tree for over 20 years and I have never gotten anything but an exceptional meal. The staff is very customer friendly and most accommodating. They do an outstanding job of explaining every detail of the meal
and are extremely polite and professional.
I highly recommend the Pepper Tree for any occasion. They will make it "special."
Food was good, not outstanding. Service was good, but too many interruptions. Was noisy! Prices mich too high for value of the experience. Spent years checking out places
form Boston to New York City. Pepper tree is a wanna be.
The waiters and chefs at the Pepper Tree have table side prep down to a science. My pepper stake with chutney was perfectly prepared. Timing of each course was also perfect. The matre-d was very cordial. The quality of the food was excellent. Don't let the parking lot scare you away. It would be nice if they put some trees or scrubs out there and made the building a little more appealing. But I didn't go there to look at the building, I came for great food and service and they certainly delivered on those.
This was the first time we tried this restaurant from recommendations from friends. We loved everything about it. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the staff made it very special. The food was delicious, view was great, the service was fabulous - all worth the price. We will definitely come again.
Great food and a great atmosphere. The wines are all well selected, I have never had a bad glass. The Pepper Steak is terrific and cooked tableside which is unique. The staff is very attentive and accomidating, especially if you want a window view of the city which is amazing!
We went to the Peppertree for a birthday celebration. The service was excellent, the view overlooks downtown and the ambience is in keeping with a fine dining atmosphere. It's a good restaurant for special occasions and most dress accordingly although some wore jeans which seemed a bit casual. The vodka and gin martinis were perfect. The salad was fresh and the bread tasty. The Steak Diane and pepper steak were both prepared tableside, which makes the occasion even more special, and cooked to our request of medium and medium rare. I thought the Steak Diane sauce was a little too creamy but very good. We split a piece of chocolate cake for dessert. There were several interesting items on the menu that we will try on a return visit.
Have been here many times on our anniversary. Food was great except for the fact of no substitutions. My husband is diabetic and wanted to substitute the rice, potato, or pasta option for a vegetable but to no avail. They offered an additional price to bring him a vegetable. Thought for the price you pay, a couple pieces of broccoli wouldn't be too much to ask.
