We had a family meal and All was superb. Classic Austrian cuisine. The jaeger schnitzel, Weiner schnitzel and spaetzle cannot be best
The only negative is the hostess and waitresses. They don't make you feel welcome.
We had dinner in the antler room. Food and service are excellent. We go every time we are in Vail.
I Love Pepis.
Never been disappointed!
The atmosphere was really stuffy and uptight. Not at all welcoming.
Always a great place!! Very Friendly!!
We always enjoy our meal.
Pepi's was recommended to us by friends, and I have to admit the bar portions with the live music is a great place to have a drink in Vail, as for the dinning in the dinning room is is fine but nothing to want me make a detour to go back.
Awesome time, very good foods. We met the owners, lovely experience
We have been eating here for 23 years. It is a great Tyrollean experience. Food is fantastic with Weiner Schnitzel and apple strudel the best!!
Un clasico de Vail para el steack tartare y platos locales con toque europeo
Great place. Getting seated needs work. Whatever you do check your coat before seeing hostess...this place doesn't mess around with the coats.
Classic Austrian/Hungarian food. Been the same for 30 years.
Excellent Austrian food and atmosphere. Pepi was there to say hello.
Nice enough, but strudel should NEVER be reheated in a microwave causing soggy pastry and uneven temperature throughout
Great bratwurst ! Loved it !
After 30 years I guess it can't be perfect every time. Late reservation (9:00). Attentions focus was closing restaurant and not customer service.
Food was delicious and service very friendly. We also saw Pepi himself come in and dine, a bonus!!
Excellent house made pasta! Will come back again.
Sadly, not up to the standard we have expected from Pepi’s over the years. May be it was just an off night.
Dinner with family. Very nice time at the restaurant. Very good crab cakes!!!
One and done for this tourist trap:
Our server was nice but the hostesses were rude. Food was not good & it was overpriced. Furthermore, we were seated at a table right next to an over decorated door and the decorations snagged my husband's brand new sweater.
Very disappointed with our meal. We were so stoked for German food but were very disappointed. Not as tasty as we had hoped.
Fun and enjoyable atmosphere. Some outstanding German food and the Caribou chops were outstanding!
Always a great place for authentic comfort Austrian dishes! Friendly and helpful staff. Delicious pilsners!!!
Great as always particularly in the off-season. Good food and exceptional staff.
The best Bloody Mary I’ve had in Vail. The German and Austrian food was amazing. The bartender, Sean, was an exceptional host.
One of our favorites!
I had been at least 15 years since my last visit to Pepi's!
Had lunch with relatives while attending a wedding wekend and could not have been more pleased with the service and atmosphere.
Very authentic as I lived in Germany for seven years.
Returned for dinner and the Wild dish of quail, venison, and elk was special! Highly recommended!
Terrific great food wonderful service and we will be back each time we are in vail
We have enjoyed dining at Pepe's for many years, but this last visit was a true disappointment. The meal was completely under seasoned and bland (and it's not easy to add salt and pepper to a schnitzel after it has been cooked) overcooked and dry. The traditional "parsley potatoes" on the menu were replaced with what can only be described as "home fries". Gulasch soup was tasty, but the rest of the meal was no where near the quality of years past. That just may have been our last dinner at Pepe's. Sad, but far too many places to choose from to return for mediocre food.
Great food as always
The schnitzel was very thin but portion size was generous. Apple strudel was tasty. The traffic in and out of the bar area where live music was playing was distracting.
Food was great. Nice service. Pretty expensive but it’s Vail!
My husband loved the game on your menu-
We will be back
Raw meat! Pepi’s is supposed to specialize in the preparation of game. We ordered the caribou medium and got one raw and one well done chop each. When we brought this to the attention of the waitress, she offered to bring one chop back to have it further cooked. The returned chop looked like it had been microwaved as it was now well done. I brought this situation to the manager who said he would “ see what he could do”. The waitress returned to offer a free dessert. Considering the entrees were $42 each, this was no where near appropriate for dinners we couldn’t eat. When we were given the bill, 15% was deducted from each entree...an insult to say the least. We paid the bill and left without further comment....no point as these people were clueless abour customer service.
I've lived here 8 yrs in the valley and never been to Pepi's for dinner. It was outstanding! Great service and food and ambiance. Super impressive.
We were there for our 27th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time! Our waiter and Chef outdid themselves! We also got to meet Pepi and his beautiful wife-what a treat!
As a second home owner in Vail since 1992 and skiing here long before that, we have been coming to Pepi's for lunch and dinner, winter and summer for over 30 years, but tonight was our last time. My wife's sister was staying with us for two weeks and wanted to take her to one of our old favorites. Had a reservation for 3 at 7 pm on Labor Day. When we arrived the hostess took us to a 4 top in the middle of the covered patio. As we made our way to the table we passed another 4 top on the railing looking outside. I asked if we could be seated there instead. Hostess said no as she needed to keep it open in case a party of 5 came in. OK no problem. We ordered some cocktails, asked about the specials, and started studying the wine list. Soon thereafter another party of 3 seated in the back of the dining room were reseated at the exact same table on the railing we asked about. A few minutes later the hostess came by to light the candle on our table. We pointed out that another party of 3 was reseated at the table we inquired about. She did not apologize and said she does but control what happens in the dining room. Another 4 top was being reset right next to the table in question. We asked if we could be reseated there and was told the same story of needing to keep it open in case a party of 5 came in. After that it was clear we could not have an enjoyable dinner so we left and thanked the hostess on our way out. Given it was Labor Day evening Vail was slow as most of the tourists had already departed for the day. As a result Pepi's lost 3 covers on us which would have included cocktails, apps, entrees, 2 bottles of wine and dessert. Ended up going to Russell's and had a very enjoyable dinner. Passed by Pepi's 90 minutes later and there were several tables open on the railing and one of the 4 tops only had 2 people! Pains me to write this review but it is what it is.
Authentic Austrian food. Friends from Cologne, Germany say it is the best in the U.S.A. I wish I could authenticate their goulash but it is worth driving from Denver to have a bowl.
Best meal we had in Vail. Tried all the best spots. Pepi's was hands down the best.
