Pepi's Restaurant & Bar
All Special events and Large Groups must be made with the restaurant.
This is a nice little gem of a restaurant. The food is Austrian, the drinks are priced fairly, waitstaff was great. The ambiance was comfortable and attractive. We enjoyed a nice meal for a fair price during restaurant week 2018. All the complaints about waitstaff I read online seem to have been addressed.
Had lunch, eating schnitzel with German potatoes salad and red cabbage. I am of German heritage, and this was the best I have had in Colorado. Went for restaurant week, with special of entree and salad for $20.18. Excellent deal.
Always a treat. Good Austrian food. Better prices than others in town. Great deal during restaurant week.
They were understaffed but the hostess and our server did a fantastic job! Food was excellent and you can’t beat the patio on a sunny Saturday in September! Plus we got to meet Pepi!
We always end our yearly Vail vacation with dinner at Pepi's. It’s always good and love the German tastes. Service is personable and the semi outdoor seating is casual and comfortable. Always a favorite.
Amazing place! The service is a little slow but the NY Strip is worth every second of it!
My wife and I had a very good meal that our attentive and well-informed waiter recommended for each of us. Though the front deck was crowded we were served in a timely and well-timed fashion. We enjoy Pepi’s Every time!
Food was not as good as I expected.
Veal was dry and I thought sides were of small portions.
Had been there before and had been better on other visits.
Pepi's is a staple German restaurant in Vail. Great menu selection, excellent quality food and desserts, and a wonderful wine list. Their service is next to none as well, as, even when busy, their servers do a great job attending to guests needs. The ambience of the restaurant is also charming and quaint, reminiscent of old world german cottage-inns. While it is pricey, it is definitely worth splurging on if you're looking for one fancy meal in fail.
We had a perfect evening and meal. Great Food!!! Date night for me and the Mrs... Pepis is authentic in a BEAUTIFUL setting.
Living on their reputation for too long... We have been coming to Pepi's for 20 yrs, used to be an authentic experience it is definitely lost its ambiance, attention to details (bread came after entrees were served), and quality of food (thick breading coating paper thin veal is NOT German cuisine). Will try another venue next time in Vail.
Excellent waitress and delicious food! Loved the strudel
We had a memorable dinner. The food was excellent. Service was spot on. We love the European ambiance.
We have ate here so many times. Was one of our favorite restaurants. Today we sat for 25 minuets before we had a server come greet us. We asked at that point if we could order drinks as we were thirsty. He then tried to go but we said hey before you go let’s just give you our full order as we have sat here for 25 mins. Gave our order and some how he came back giving us someone else’s order. When we got our main course mine was warm and not hot. The quality has went down hill! My husband and I walked away saying it’s a lot of money for food that wasn’t tasty. I don’t think we will be back for a while and plan to try the other German restaurant in vail. Seems to have better reviews. So sad all these years we have loved it but tonight may have been our last night.
I tell anyone going to Vail to be sure to eat at this restaurant. I really enjoy dinner there only wish I lived there so I could eat there more often!
We have been going to Pepi's for MANY years. This time we were there for our 20th anniversary. Unfortunately, we feel that it's just not the same anymore. Prices are exorbitant and the food just isn't what it used to be. We know Pepi and we hate to give this review, but need to be honest. No longer our favorite Vail restaurant.
Service was quick and waiter spent time to go over the menu. Food was excellent.
Due to its' ranking, we chose this restaurant. I had not been to a German restaurant in awhile. The weiner schnitzel was very tasty but pounded a little too thin for my tastes, giving it more breading than anything.
Comida alemana de buen gusto en una de mas mejores esquinas de Vail.
The summer menu is smaller than the winter one. The restaurant did not seem to be happy to have a child.
This is the BEST German food in Vail, in my opinion!
Always an excellent meal in a beautiful place with outstanding service.
We love eating at this restaurant! The view and food are amazing!
One of our favorites
From the superb onion soup to the outstanding strudel
Cannot miss this charming spot
Went there 2-3 times a week for happy hour. Brian Spotts acoustics is the best- good times, casual, great way to start the night. I wish they offered more food options and be able to listen to him play. Dined there once so we could keep listening. Food was ok for the cuisine, but nothing that stands out as memorable- other than the giant soft pretzel soaked in butter- yum!
Food came out way too quickly for an enjoyable event. It was obviously prepared and only luke warm. Jaeger schnitzel was covered in a thick, too-gooey sauce.
There are 2 sections here. One is bright and airy with live music and one is dark and gloomy like an old German woman’s home. We entered in the dark section. Asked the bar tender if we could sit in the bright section hey said to wait for the hostess. We waited standing awkwardly for 10 minutes while the bar tender just watched. Finally the bar tender said “ oh I’m sorry you’ll have to go outside to talk to the hostess.”
Waiter was good. Live music was fun. Goulash soup was excellent with good bite. Wiener schnitzel was good but not as good as Russell’s across the street. Good wine list.
Overall good spot just the one negative experience related to customer service in the beginning.
The older hostess that greeted us needs to retire. She acts like you’re doing her a favor to eat there. Our waitress was brusk and not friendly. Our main course came in 5 minutes. We were there at 5pm so it was obviously precooked. How do you cook trout and serve in 5 minutes. They obviously wanted to move the table even though it was half full. This restaurant is a legend because of the owner. They need to change!
Everything was very nice till I found a black hair in my food. I said accidents happen and was nice..... but I was saddened when they brought the check and had me pay for it. My husband and I will not go back....
Sad... as I said I tried to be very nice....mistakes are made, but my dish should have been comped....
The tables are not dressed up, now you feel in a cafeteria with high prices.
Excellent restaurant with great staff.
We have been going to Peppi’s for over 40 years. Still great food, ambiance and service. Thank you!
Upon arrival, They said we didn’t have a reservation! We did. They sat us in an area that was not to our liking, even though there were several tables open outside.
When other guests after us complained of the same seating situation, they were granted the privilege of being seated outdoors, as we sat inside!
When we explained again, to another employee how we had also requested outdoor seating, but were denied, they apologized, and said the person who seated us was a new employee. Very unfortunate. We were not happy. No offers of compensation.
Always enjoy Pepi's patio and German/Austrian entrees. But when we got the bill with a $16 mixed drink charge, we decided "no more Pepi's." Could have at least offered a small cookie for our anniversary dinner.
Food fantastic and ambiance was great. Never had caribou before. It was super
Classic Vail restaurant and bar that is still as great as ever. If you like Austrian food or aren't even sure, give it a try. They have the best Jaeger Schnitzel that I've ever had outside of Austria. Lots of amazing choices and all incredibly high quality delicious food. Service is professional and efficient and friendly. Owners Pepi and Sheika Grammshammer are still there making sure that it's up to par at all times. Lively bar scene with live music during high season.
We had a delicious and lovely meal on the patio in warm weather while watching the street scene in Vail. Highly recommend
As good as always.
Very nice on the patio. Limited menu because of the season, but a very nice experience nonetheless!
Different menu than advertised. Possibly microwaved food. Not worth the price tag.
Excellent service, warm and friendly waitstaff, incredible cuisine, and romantic ambiance. Great place to celebrate in Vail. We dined as a family in the Antler room, and they were just as professional with our kids as the other patrons.
