We had a delicious meal! The appetizer, humus and flat bread was a treat, my salmon was delicious and the chocolate pudding for desert was perfect. We had such a nice evening!
Second time here and food is amazing. Both times, ordered at least one small plate from the specials list. Drinks are a bit pricey although they have a very skilled bartender that offers some good twists on some classic cocktails. Service wasn't great. It was a Friday both times so busy. Servers were distracted. First time, getting the server to pay attention to us for drinks or a dessert order was lacking. Food was also just dropped without any comment and we had another request. Second time, we got small plates twice as 2 courses. We had to ask both times for individual plates. Beyond this, the guy filling my water and clearing the table was spot on. My glass was always full and a dirty dish was never on table long.
Menu had excellent and different italian specialities. All the food tried was excellent. Desserts were different from the norm but were delicious. Wait staff was attentive and service was excellent. Definitely a return visit is warranted next time I am in the area.
Becoming a favorite. Great food, good service. Ate alone there and was not uncomfortable.
Katerina was wonderful and accommodating to the group of women.
I commend Dennis & Lisa on creating specials and a wonderful menu to explore and enjoy. I always enjoy the food and the staff. Thank-you Pentimento.
First time dining at this restaurant and we totally enjoyed ourselves. Great food, polite staff, fast service. Will be going back.
This was a return visit after several years absence. First visit so so, this was spectacular. Many options on the menu, which made choosing difficult but provided a reason to want to return. We ordered 4 small plates/appetizers for two to share. It was the perfect amount. The cauliflower and the beets were exquisite.
Very good food and some nice wine choices.
Excellent service from Taylor
We have gone to this restaurant twice for Easter. My daughter attends Stony Brook University and this restaurant is very close to her school.
They have an eclectic menu, with a combination of tapas and traditional plates. They were able to augment a pasta dish to make it vegan for me but they also have a few vegan tapas plates.
The sevice is always top notch, food is always superb and the price is reasonable.
I don't want to bash this restaurant, but this was the worst dining experience we've had in memory. We have eaten here before and were satisfied, but after leaving there this time, we went to the diner. I ordered the Grilled Chicken, it was basically a butterflied Chicken breast on the bone with the skin on. It just was not good, taste or texture, it came with a side of a mushy sort of quinoa and no vegetable. My girlfriend ordered the Eggplant Rollatini, she did not like her dish, the eggplant fell apart, the sauce was overly salted and tangy, again not good. We found the prices to be more than our mainstay restaurants. The service and staff were friendly. Last time we ate there we had panini's which were good. I don't like to leave unfavorable reviews, but I'm just being honest.
Food was excellent
Never disappointed in a fine meal with great service!
This time we ordered 4 small plates to share instead of the usual 2 entrees. They were all flavorful. We will continue to dine at this wonderful restaurant.
Our table was ready on time and our server was very personable and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our meal immensely and didn’t feel rushed to leave.. it’s a pleasant experience every time! See you soon!
Very nice place. Very attentive service and very respectful, friendly. Food is very good, however I have to knock it on the likely SUGAR content. I used to think having a racing heart after a dinner out was due to too much sodium but have since learned that rather it must be due to sugar/carbs overload. My heart was racing heavily during the night after dinner. Stupid me forgot to ask whether they could avoid adding any sugar if at all possible. I had the chicken under a brick, also had cauliflower au gratin; not sure where the hidden sugar was?
Not traditional food and Never disappoints. Windows make daytime dinning nice.
We enjoyed our dinner. We had dinner here a number of years ago and it is clear this restaurant has become very popular. It is easy to see why. Good food and warm service are plentiful.
We were able tailor our meal so that it met our standards for good health. There was a nice selection of healthier menu options and sides to choose from. Our server was responsive to our special requests regarding sauces.
I would suggest that the bread be served warm to "freshen" it up. I would also suggest that the support staff be better trained so that service does not feel to be intrusive to the dining experience.
I will look forward to returning in the future and suggest that others look forward to a nice dinner sometime soon.
THE SERVER WAS EXCELLENT, VERY HAPPY WITH HIS ATTENTION TO DETAIL.
Excellent food. Had the Frisee salad, chicken under a brick and the biscotti for dessert. Delicious. All that was missing was a vegetable. Been there multiple times. Will definitely continue going.
Delicious food good service
Pentimento is an excellent restaurant, great food, very friendly service. Overall a great experience and I absolutely recommend it!
Very good food. I bit pricey. The portions are small. fresh pasta.
Have been here many times as it is so easy to come back to for the food, service and ambiance. Being vegetarian there are many creative dishes to choose from and all our friends love whatever they get. Will be back soon again (and I don't live nearby but it is so worth the drive and it is a pretty area).
Always excellent..this time no different..quiet Sunday evening,,superb service and preparations..
Sorry I forgot my po8nts card and wish there were some wa6 to get those points we missed..
Great find everything was spot on
Good food, great time with friends! Worth the trip!
The service was great, Paris did a great job taking care of us. The food was very good. There was a Chamber of Commerce Event in the bar area, so it was a bit loud, but staff was overly apologetic about the volume. It did not bother us.
Great first time, looking forward to visiting soon again!
First time visiting Pentimento Restaurant, went based on recommendations from a few co-workers. I was very pleased. Very friendly staff, good selection of cocktails and craft beer, and amazing food (homemade meatballs are delicious!). Maybe one negative is I felt the dessert menu was slightly limited and leaned more towards ice cream/gelato/pudding type desserts. I am not a big dessert person, so this is just an observation. Looking forward to going back!
Pentimento has declined markedly since our last visit...very poor service with inexperienced staff and average food does not make the grade as a fine dining restaurant.
Excellent dinner with friends. Food was great, location was great, service was fine. Just felt a little rushed to get out after only being there for over an hour. Though there were only two couples waiting to eat, we should have been able to relax and enjoy my tea instead of being asked to pay my check.
The restaurant has a cozy feel to it. The bar area was also inviting with a friendly bartender and good happy hour choices. I enjoyed the food but was a little disappointed with the small amount of muscles for the price. The tiramisu had too much orange zest it overpowered the coffee flavor. The service was ok no one came to pour the wine when our glasses were empty.
Pentimento never fails on service and food quality, we all love this restaurant each time we go. I being a vegetarian am so pleased with so many creative options. Our server Rob was wonderful. Everyone I take here just loves it. Will be back again and again
My steak was slightly over-cooked to my liking and what I asked for, but it was delicious. The orange polenta cake was delicate and a perfect end to this meal. The hazelnut gelato was amazing. We had great service and left very satisfied. We have returned to this restaurant many times and will continue to do so.
Awesome happy hour...apps are fantastic. The food is delicious and the service is superior. The house made gnocchi is by far one of the best that I've tasted....great job to the chef!!
I just had the most interesting and delicious meal! The chefs love to be creative with flavors and they were right-on again. I love this place because of the people, the staff, the bar, the ambience and the food. I'll be back again and again!
The quality of the ingredients of all dishes stand out to me. Quite a homemade feel.
The food was delicious. Lots to choose from. We had a great evening. Thanks!
