Like all Italian fare, the soul of each dish is derived from the region and embodied by the finest imported and local, natural and organic ingredients and animated with passion in the hands that prepare them. Using minimal and high quality ingredients and showcasing their flavors is one of our philosophies at Pentimento. Our wine program is extensive, yet simple. Every palette is different. Italian food needs to be enjoyed in an atmosphere that beckons family and friends to savor, talk, drink and celebrate. The direction by the general manager Lisa Cusumano results in a very unique guest experience
We are regulars at Pentimento. We return often because we love the drinks, the food and the welcoming servers.
This experience was not the best.
Very good food selection served by courteous and caring waitstaff in a warm Stony Brook ambiance.
Great service, great food and drinks, did not wait long for a table, just wish the dessert menu had more options! Otherwise a great dining experience!!
The food was very good. Everyone liked their selection. Good seafood dishes.
A bit short staffed however it was a Tuesday and was very busy. It was explained that it usually is not as crowed in Tuesdays
As many times as we have eaten here, there has never been a disappointing experience, never, not even one.
So grateful to have this restaurant in our village.
One of my favorite local spots for dining and a great “grown up” bar!
Outstanding food, service & atmosphere
Was overall good. Immediate tables were somewhat noisy.
Great food! Excellent service and so pleasant to dine
Large variety for all dietary considerations.
Overall very good food, good service and nice ambience
Great food and service
We had a 7:45pm reservation for two. We arrived on time and were told that the guests before us at our table were "signing the check now". We were not seated until at least 8:15pm. We were told while we were waiting that our table in the upstairs region. When they finally did seat us they sat us at a humorously small round table in the bar area. It was so loud I could not hear my partner and we had to eat our food in multiple courses because we couldn't fit a single side dish physically on the table along with our mains. Even with only our mains we had to move the water, salt, pepper, and other table items onto a side railing to fit our plates. The staff gave us a free white bean dip as we sat down "for our wait". The pasta was just ok. The Orrechietti advertised having broccoli rabe in it and it didn't. The gnocchi bolognese needed seasoning.
Everything was great as usual!
I've been here many times before but brought our friends here for the first time and they loved it all and look forward to coming back. The new Fall menu is wonderful for all. I as a vegetarian am much happier with this menu than the last one - had the baked polenta and then butternut squash ravioli - excellent. My friend with celiac had many great choices and they were very alert to his celiac. Our server was great and we will all be back again.
Pretty nice place in Stony Brook. The location is good because there's not a ton of other options in the area. Space is good: very comfortable and doesn't feel generic. We shared a cheese board and I had the salmon, which were fine if not super exciting.
Always a good decision. Took mom and wife put for dinner they both loved it.
Great food and great ambiance great service
Excellent as always. Great service and great food. Very nice atmosphere.
Pentimento has been a neighborhood favorite for years, and for good reason. The restaurant constantly challenges itself by creatively changing the menu, offering unusual combinations and ingredients that blend to make fabulous taste treats. The drinks menu is always on trend
and the wine list extensive. A few years ago, Pentimento extended its size and now is a gracious place to enjoy good food and good company!
Outstanding food & service
This is a lovely place for lunch or dinner. Food is always delicious.
Love this restaurant. Will definitely go back again.
We love Pentimento. There aren’t a lot of restaurants in this area with quality food. This is our go to.
Outstanding food & service
Great meal and service! On the louder side of restaurants though
We enjoyed the small back room for our group.
We brought our friends from Bayville for Sunday lunch. They loved everything about Pentimento which made us feel very happy.
The food and service were great. Barely finished 2 small apps and dinner was on the table. We'll be back.
I had a roast turkey sandwich with sliced butternut squash that was fantastic. Lots of fall flavors combined for a great seasonal taste. I paired it with mashed sweet potatoes. Great food. Great service. Reasonable priced. Highly recommended .
Everything was great as always!
Please add cheesecake to the dessert menu!
Loved our waiter , he was so articulate, descriptive, enthusiastic and beyond pleasant!
Service was impeccable!
I have been to Pentimento multiple times before this most recent one. This time another couple joined us who had never been to Pentimento. We all enjoyed the food and service immensely. Everything was prepared perfectly. The service was caring and professional.
Delicious variety of food and great bloody Mary’s!
Pentimento is one of our favorite restaurants! We have never had a bad meal. Love the atmosphere, service and specials! The fettuccine with tuna has always been delicious! We had the spicy broccoli which was prepared to perfection! My husband had the pasta special which he loved! We always love Pentimento, definitely a neighborhood gem!!!!
Courteous staff that will make sure it is your best experience. It was nice to go somewhere that you can wear a tshirt for lunch and dress up for dinner.
Lots of great options for special diets and everything was absolutely delicious!
Very cute place. Appetizers (clams, mussels and octopus) very disappointing. Fortunately the main courses were very good but doubtful we would return.
