Service was impeccable. The food was excellent, the portions being typical for this type of restaurant. When the question of which glad of wine to have with the main course, they brought both bottles for a taste. Great place for those special occasions.

The Penrose Room is a very special place, fairly expensive but worth the expense once in a while. They now have a three course and five course menu. Each permit a fairly wide range of selections. The service is absolutely first rate. Most people dress very nicely, men have jackets on and no jeans. They had a small combo and singer entertaining during the meal which is very nice. Sure to create a favorable impression on almost anyone.
A great place to introduce an older child, 12 and up, to a fine dining experience. Would not recommend for younger children.

It was an amazing meal and experience. The only downside (not the restaurant’s fault) was an infant that another family brought with them, that cried sporadically through the meal. Not the type of place for a baby.

I hope Penrose asks parents to leave the young ones at home or with a sitter in the future.

Other than that, it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had.

Overall the experience was quite nice The service was outstanding. The menu for the chef’s tasting was eclectic but there were too many grilled or roasted strong vegetables ie cabbage, turnip and cauliflower. The elk dish was chewy and frankly not edible NO attempt was made to accommodate this flaw however. The wine pairings were just okay. The dessert pairing was the best but it was a cocktail not a wine. I did not feel the value was there. Outstanding were the onion custard and the black truffle polenta!

From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed and appreciated as customers. The food was wonderful, the service spot on without being overbearing. The trio who played and sang were terrific. My only gripe is the room is severely in need of a decorating update. I felt like I needed to be wearing padded shoulders and a perm from the 80s.

We had the 3 course tasting menu. Delicious - especially the turnip tofu salad and the tuna. The agnolotti were very good as were the veal cheeks. Dessert was good as well. We had the creme brûlée and the il flotante.

Excellent all the way around

Service was excellent. Food creative and tasty. I really enjoyed the elk. Very nice live quiet jazz band with vocalist played while we were there for my sister's birthday. Beautiful view of downtown Colorado Springs evening lights from one side. The lake on the other side.

This was our first visit to the Penrose Room and it was a delightful experience. We were celebrating a birthday and took advantage of their Winter Special that included a 3-course meal with wine parings. The view is fantastic and the warm, comfortable atmosphere along with the dinner music provided a wonderful ambience. The entire staff was outstanding. Each person was welcoming and friendly. Any questions about the menu selections were explained and some recommendations were made. Each item was described as it was served and the sommelier explained the wine choice and how it enhanced the meal. We both enjoyed the Caramelized Onion Bouillon as an appetizer, chose Ahi Tuna and Tiger Prawns for the main course, and had Le Forêt Noire chocolate dessert to finish the meal. All courses were perfectly prepared and wonderfully presented. The wine parings were a fun way to experience different wines. We would highly recommend the Broadmoor's Penrose Room for your next special occasion or fine dining experience.

We did the tast long menu and it was not cheap but was well worth the high price. The food and service was amazing. Chef Maxwell came out and showered our plates with truffles during one course. The view is stunning and the live music was pleasant. I hope that Michilen comes to Colorado to visit this restaurant.

The atmosphere was elegant with an amazing view of the city. We all really enjoyed our cocktails in the private sitting area by the fireplace before being seated at our table (reminiscent of trips to Italy, France and Scotland) Food was expertly prepared and beautifully presented. Vegetarian menu options were limited for my two companions, but the chef created individual courses for them based on their preferences which were excellent. Service was excellent as well. Wonderful live music ensemble and dancing topped off a memorable anniversary celebration.

We were celebrating an anniversary. When we first walked in we were not asked if we wanted our coats checked. The staff seemed very young and inexperienced. Our waiter never even came back to check on us after the food was delivered. We had a drink in the bar and ordered a second of the same in the restaurant. They were different.
We were not happy about our experience.

The service was impeccable and I am also guessing that since Tuesday was probably one of their slowest nights we had more servers than normal. This was definitely fine dining and the dinner prices reflect this statement. Men are required to wear a dinner jacket and no denim. You can expect to pay $150 to $200 per plate. They had a special 3-course and 5-course option and I definitely would not choose the 5-course dinner. If you pick the latter, you must like several of the items the Chef has selected and at that price, I think I would want to pick my own selections. We chose the 3-course option that allowed one to pick your own selections. Overall a very pleasant experience and what made it even more enjoyable and spectacular was sharing the evening with the one you love and enjoy.

The Penrose Room is a throwback to old-school elegance but with updated cuisine.

There are amuse-bouches and craft cocktails along with an extensive wine it's that would make most sommeliers envious.

We had the halibut and the bacon wrapped lobster, both of which were superb.

The sorbets were the best we've ever had -- so creamy and flavorful it was hard to remember that it wasn't ice cream.

Our chef's tasting meal was incredible. My wife's aversion to seafood and mushrooms was recognized, wine pairings that didn't match our taste were swapped, and Crystal the sommelier was excellent (as was the entire staff). It was a delightful evening for us (though it is fully priced!).

We had never done a 5 star restaurant before and although the bill was more than I budgeted for it was absolutely an amazing evening. The professionalism, customer service and the way everyone made us feel was exceptional. The food was absolutely delicious and meticulously prepared. We were stuffed for sure. A 5 star restaurant should be on us common folks bucket list for sure and The Penrose Room should be the place to enjoy it. Get dressed up and surprise your loved one or celebrate something special.

In case you were not aware the valet parking is complimentary too. It was just an experience my wife and I won't ever forget and keep in mind that the dinner is about a 3-4 hour experience with live soft music in the background and people even dancing.

My wife and I have annually had dinner at the Penrose Room to celebrate her birthday for decades and have historically raved about the ambience, service and food. It is a pricey experience but well worth it - until this year. Resort-wide, the Broadmoor has gone to an automatic 20% tip on all checks, no matter the number of people at the table. I am an habitual 20% tipper, so on the surface that would seem like no big deal, but we saw a noticeable difference in the service at each restaurant venue we visited on the property this past weekend. The service attention was not the same because, in my view, they get their 20% no matter what and I'm willing to bet the server doesn't get that tip anyway now, where they used to get all or some of it. Another change for the Penrose Room is the menu. An obvious focus on presentation has overtaken the quality and sensibility of the food selection. The menu is very fancy now and even the traditional dessert has been changed. We ordered the carrot cake and it turned out to be a gelatin dish with carrot shavings on top - seriously?! The two of us had a friendly drink in the bar before dinner, a wonderful Caesar Salad made table side then things went downhill with the entrees and dessert. We also had two glasses of wine with dinner and the tab came to over $300 - whoa! I've paid that much in the past with no regrets because the Penrose overall experience has always been so great. Not many place with a band and dance floor, either, which adds to the overall experience we've loved. We hate the changes made there as it has been our favorite restaurant, and I even feel bad giving them such a bad review, but only hope their management reads this and does something about it. We won't be going back there if they don't.

My husband and I were given this as a gift from our son and daughter in law. The food was fantastic, the taste of each food was wonderful. The service was very warm and friendly, we enjoyed the conversation with our servers and they gave us time to visit and experience and taste each course. The Penrose room is defiantly something I would recommend to anyone looking for a dinning experience to go beyond expectations.
