Best food we have ever had! Service was excellent too.
Christmas dinner every year, awesome as always. Only comment is never saw the lead waitress Roxanne but 3 times in 3 hours and her team took great care of us... she got most of the tip I’m sure...
This was a fabulous experience. The food, service and ambiance were top notch!
The service was amazing and the food was bliss. I highly recommend going here.
The chef’s tasting menu paired with wine was incredible, we definitely will be back
It was a very special occasion for my husband and I, and because of that I think it was an exciting, fun thing to do. It's not inexpensive.
It was our first experience and it was amazing! The entire staff was professional, friendly, and gave us the impression that they could not do enough for us. The food was excellent and prepared to perfection. The music provided the perfect complement to our experience. We especially appreciated the fact that we could talk over it easily when we needed/wanted to.
The Penrose Room is lovely but dated. The service was attentive except when we needed it. Two dishes were very disappointing. My Lobster Salad consisted primarily of a small lobster tail. This was very upscale, but it was so tough that I could not cut it with a table knife. I ended up tearing it apart with a combination of my dinner knife and fork. Worse, my date ordered the Dover Sole. Instead of the traditional Dover Sole, the fish was in a tight roll so tough she could not cut it. She was frank when the waiter asked how she liked her meal and asked if they could just serve the sole without the fancy twist. The waiter brought her another Dover Sole Roll which was equally inedible. The cost of that dinner [$90 without tip] was not a good value, although the wine was outstanding (of course not included in the prix fixe) and the desserts were tasty. I don't know how the Penrose keeps its 5 star rating. I was embarrassed as the end of the evening because I had thought it was going to be special.
From greetings to good-byes the Penrose Room is a warm, friendly, and unforgettable experience.
We both went with the chef's selection and every offering was a delight. Plan on a 3 hour pace for the 5 course meal. A wonderful duet played music from the past for the listening and dancing pleasure of the guests. Dress up and make a night of it.
All around excellent experience. They made our 22nd Anniversary extra special. Very attentive, friendly, knowledgeable staff. Will definitely go back.
In the past year I have eaten at The Penrose Room 3 times and each time seems to get better! The service is so thoughtfully planned out and precise. The menu is different every time I visit, and carefully planned and thoughtful behind each item. There seems to never be a lack of creativity or flavor in the dishes. The sommelier is absolutely excellent and has an extensive knowledge of wines. Every single part of the dining experience was incredible!
We love the Penrose Room and make it a point to visit whenever we are in town!
My sister was in town, and she and my wife spent the weekend at the Broadmoor. We decided to make it a special evening by having dinner at the Penrose Room.
We are arrived slightly before opening as we had an early start the next day. We were offered a set in the bar next to the fireplace before being seating in the dining room.
Upon seating, we were told "you have the table for the night" which was a refreshing change to most restaurants. We chose the 3 course option and we all had superb meals - lamb, squab and venison. The sommelier helped us pick out a wonderful bottle of red wine. The pre-dinner cocktails were creative and delicious. We chose the cheese for dessert and we were not disappointed.
A truly special experience and wonderful staff. Thank you Penrose Room!!
Great service and food.
Wonderful service and food accompanied by beautiful views!
Need a better music trio. Not good for dancing at all.
It was an excellent dining experience! Not just a meal.
As usual; the PenRose always surprises me
The Penrose Room at the Broadmoor is a fantastic restaurant for a special occasion. We were celebrating a birthday and the Penrose staff was excellent. They were very attentive to all of us and are the epitome of service in the restaurant business. The food was delicious, exceptionally presented and made from very unique recipes.
For the money paid and the "reputation" purported the value is definitely not there. The food was sub-par, but the Service is Five Star. Unfortunately the service did not make up for the "quality" of the food.
We had another great experience at the Penrose Room. The atmosphere was beautiful. The ambiance was calm, and the jazz trio were soothing.
The sommelier helped us pick some nice bottles for us and for the table of friends near to us.
The food was exceptional in both presentation and flavor.
We’ll definitely return every time we visit Colorado Springs.
Five star dining.
Setting is great and the service is spectacular, but the food was pretty disappointing. Fun to have gone, but will look at other options for next time around.
Very good venue. However, In my opinion it is not at par with Other Forbes 5 star restaurants. Wine pairing selections with the chef’s menu was very average.
Excellent service. Food was superb. Environment was perfect.
Amazing food that was overshadowed by the exceptional service!!
Every detail was impeccable. Truly a treat for the senses!
Wonderfully elegant dining room and experience. Service was fabulous with a braid and varied wine list. Expensive but worthwhile on those special occasions.
WONDERFUL! LOVED IT AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE
It was the dining experience expected from a 5-star restaurant. Fabulous on all counts! Thank you 😄
Waited forever for food, it came out stone cold, we sent it back, waited another 30 minutes it came back the same. We both had fish, my husband ordered the cod and I had grouper that was supposed to be cooked in banana leaf. If it was, the leaf was left out of presentation. Fish was not only cold but had texture that suggested it had been frozen a long time or thawed incorrectly. We sent it back again and ate cheese from dessert selection for dinner. They were very polite and apologetic but it didn’t make for a nice evening. Very expensive restaurant for this type of thing to happen.
We had friends at another table that had ordered the same and their experience was the same. They didn’t send it back or say anything as they were in a business dinner.
The staff was outstanding and the food was as well! What a wonderful evening it was and what an incredible restaurant. Highly recommend if you’re in the area you should at least try this once!
Service a bit slow between courses. Otherwise it was a very pleasant evening.
At $90 per person for a 3 course meal, at least one beverage per person should be included. We had to pay $8 for a 8 oz beer and $5 for a 5 oz cup of really bad coffee (it was so strong, I thought it was going to walk off the table!) We didn't opt for the wine option (5 tiny course servings with no choice of what is served and a couple of ounces of wine per course for $240 a person because neither of us likes the headaches wine gives us. Don't forget that they automatically add a 20% gratuity to your order! The service was impeccable (until it was time for the check, when we were ignored by all for about 30 minutes) and worth some of the costs. The service IS worth a good tip, but to automatically charge it? It should be added in to the cost of the meal since it's added anyway!
They were all excited to bring us a 1 ounce serving of chicken broth with a 1/8" cube of potato & a 1/8" cube of carrot in it. It may not have even been 1 ounce as it was in a glass about the size of a shot glass. The breads (a small baguette and a Kalamata Olive Ciabatta) and butter with sea salt sprinkles were very fresh and delicious. My husband's scallop appetizer was wonderful & my lobster salad appetizer was interesting (whole lettuce leaves --that were hard to cut with the butter knife-- that caused the dressing to drip on my dress), but delicious. His entree of crab legs was spot on with interesting small servings of side dishes (a rice dish that looked like mashed potatoes, but didn't taste like rice or potatoes). I had the Waygu beef rib cap that was done to perfection and extremely tender with a delicious stacked potato side dish. Desserts were fantastic even though the pistachio cake tasted more like the berries than the nuts and my smores dessert didn't taste like smores, but it was good. We didn't leave hungry, though as these portions were the right size for a dinner.
All in all, it WAS a nice night. But was it worth $280 for 2? No. But it was on his bucket list.
Elegant dining at it's best! Levi and his team deliver exceptional service. Broadmoor quality throughout the evening, including the live music! Great team!
Refined dining and impeccable service. Live music to dance to between courses.
Best restaurant I've ever dined at. My wife and I still talk about it with our friends a month after we went. The most professional staff, exquisite food/drink and the atmosphere/mountain views are amazing.
Great Prix Fix menu. Outstanding service. Not many of these grand hotels left anymore.
Excellent bar, food, and service. Very nice jazz combo added to the experience. The main part of the room has about 30 tables. We were the first to arrive at 6pm and were seated in the most remote area near the door from the kitchen and a poor view of the combo. When we left at 8:30pm, there were only three tables serving customers. That was the most at anytime that evening. Don’t know why we were seating in such a poor location.
