About Pennsylvania 6 - NYC
Pennsylvania 6, is a new restaurant that is changing the landscape of the Herald Square neighborhood. Bringing with it the feeling of Old New York and a new taste of classic American dining, Pennsylvania 6 is a 21st Century cross between the Oak Room and the Oyster Bar. (The name is a tribute to Pennsylvania 6-5000, the phone number of the nearby Pennsylvania Hotel, made famous in the song of the same name performed by the Glenn Miller Orchestra.) Born of casual American roots with a sophisticated culinary twist, boasting a raw bar stocked with the finest oysters and shellfish, and an artisanal cocktail bar, a craft beer list, and an eclectic wine list, there could be no better time for its introduction, as the neighborhood continues to evolve and the bordering NoMad neighborhood becomes a burgeoning dining destination with The Breslin, John Dory, the Ace Hotel and NoMad.

Pennsylvania 6 - NYC Ratings and Reviews
If going to Madison Square Garden - a convenient location. Also close to Macy’s, subway and Port Authority.
We have been several times - always good food! This time we shared the grilled octopus as an appetizer- very good. Only thing I don’t recommend- is a Bloody Mary - made from a mix - not special at all.
Will go back when in area!
Chose this restaurant based On other reviews. Bad experience. Made reservation, didn't get seated until 15 minutes later. Other people without reservations got seated before us. Waiter was so busy, never asked how our food was. Drinks took another 15 minutes. It was super noisy too. Prices were fair for NYC. Food was fine and location was 3 minute walk to MSG. But should of went somewhere else. Don't waste your money here.
I liked the restaurant but thought the food was merely good. Not fab, just good. Given that and the small (but adequate) portions I thought it was a bit pricey, but then again this is NYC. I had a lobster roll that was nice but given the price, a little skimpy with the lbest buster I thought. We each had 1 drink, we shared an appetizer, entrees, and a shar d dessert and the bill with tip was $160 for what I’d describe as a casual dinner. Steer clear of the S’mores Sundae. Huge disappointment. A single scoop of ice cream with graham crackers just stuck into it one of which had marshmallow on top. With chocolate sauce. Really unimaginative. Lastly, the waiter hinted more than once that his manager was wanting him to rush us along while we were enjoying our tea. Not in those words, but I had to stop him from grabbing the dessert dish before we were done! I get that they are busy on a Saturday but we had really only been there about an hour and a quarter.
Good food at a fair NYC pricepoint. NOT A FAN OF HOW LOUD IT WAS. Music was not dinner level at dinner time. I could see happy hour or later in the PM for energy, but it was impossible to hear at dinner, voices were shouting in the dining room. That was NOT cool.
Went to Pennsylvania 6 for lunch before the NY Rangers game. Burgers and Wings were great. They do a fantastic job catering to allergies. Someone in our group is allergic to gluten and the server was knowledgeable about what he could and could not eat on the menu. Will definitely return!!
I've been here before and totally enjoyed the food and drink, as well as the ambience. This time, while it was not exceptionally crowded, it was very noisy. I was sitting in a booth with 3 other people, and we couldn't hear each other talk.
The drinks are very good, the food is quite good, although there are not enough "appetizer" options, and it is a bit pricey.
Four of us had the Social special - brunch entree plus unlimited brunch cocktails. Our server, Nick, was really great. The food was good but not knock-your-socks-off great. Gluten free menu was a bonus. Little too loud when it got crowded but overall a really nice experience, and a great deal.
Food-Good, Noise-Very Bad. Seemed to be a good spot to have dinner before the show at Madison Square Garden. Parking was only a few doors away. Food was very good. We shared a Parma flatbread (delicious) and the entrees were the pasta with clams (very good, but spicy) and The Knickerbocker (3 meat sliders) (very good). The reason for the 3 rating is that the noise was beyond loud. This is not the place for a quiet dinner.
Very noisy on the sport side where people were watching TV but quick and professional service. The Fois Gras mouse was to die for.
We had appertizers only. They were all good accept for the octopus and white beans tbis was Not so good, tough and a bit salty. The salmon tartare was delicate and beautiful. Beef carpaccio was also very well presented and also delicate in flavour. The French Chardonnay was a hit, I ordered another 1/2 bottle. Good food but slightly on the expensive side perhaps.
I've been using this place as my go-to dinner before a game or concert. Never really had any issues; the food is good and the service is usually above average. I was there with my family before a show on 9/15 and the noise level was out of hand and it took 45 min + to get a few burgers to the table. I hope it was just an off night but it was kind of ridiculous. The MGR did comp desert but overall it was an unpleasant experience.
I'll give it one more try.
Penn 6 is a fun and convenient place to have dinner when you're heading to Madison Square Garden for an event. I definitely would recommend reservations, especially if Paul McCartney is in town (which is where we were headed). The noise level is extra loud, to be prepared for that. But the good was good (try the burrata appetizer) and the service from out waiter was spot on.
Very overpriced. Doesn't quite get to the kind of place it wants to be. Hostess was also waitress. Dined during happy hour but place was empty. Still needed a reservation. Good place for wealthy sports buffs who don't mind overpriced cocktails, raw bar and entrees.
My daughter and I had reservations for 6:30 pm. We had a concert at MSG at 8 pm. We arrived at 6:25. We were seated. Placed our appetizer and entree order simultaneously. Apoetizer came out 5 minutes later.
I am still waiting for our entrees.
Food was average. I ordered the steak and eggs at brunch. We also got the jalapeno cornbread, a truffle aioli burger, chicken and waffles, and several items from the raw bar. The oyster selection was great and fresh. We ordered 6 (1 of each offering) and also got the shrimp cocktail (overcooked and chewy). Food really was average but I would go there again if friends wanted to.
I still cannot get enough of this place. The brunch menu is fantastic, and our family from out of the country loved it. This time around was much noisier than the first time I was there, but certainly not as loud as it could have been. The food is beyond worth it, and the staff was extraordinary.
