Penn Taproom offers a simple, affordable menu with approachable food and drinks for locals and visitors alike. Salads, sandwiches, seafood, and Doylestown's best burgers keep people coming back again and again. To compliment your meal, a wide variety of craft beers and our own cocktail creations are available. Both the restaurant and bar offer daily food and drink specials.

The renovated building offers a classic, full bar downstairs and an upstairs dining room, as well as a wrap-around patio* which is open seasonally. Please note that because of the historical nature of our building, our dining room is not handicap accessible.

*Penn Taproom is unable to accept reservations or requests for outdoor dining at any time. Patio seating is first come, first served only.

Although we had used open table to make the reservation, Penn Taproom had no record of it. Apparently online reservations are tracked differently by them and there was an oversight in noting our reservation. We had to wait about an hour for a table to open up. Staff was not very apologetic for the oversight. I think most restaurants would have offered a drink while waiting given that the wait was completely their fault. They initially told us it would be a 15-minute wait so it didn't seem to be a big deal but an hour is excessive. If we go there again, I will call in my reservation.

It was average bar food at best. Service was good. Maybe we were just there on the wrong night. Overall experience was just "ok".

Met there for lunch with 3 friends, the waitress was wonderful and she was very helpful assisting us with our meal selections. The food was fantastic. The only problem came from 2 moms with young children who were allowed to run, yell and sit at or hide behind any table there was & with a mom yelling at them from the other end of the outdoor patio. This was the fault of these 2 women not the restaurant. Being a parent myself this should not have happened. These women wanted to enjoy their lunch out and not care about anyone else. Not the other dinners or the employees that had to keep climbing over these children. Like I said we all had a very nice lunch minus the above mentioned problem.

Great patio area, cool even on Sumner days. Good drink menu and lots of good menu options. Went with the waitresses suggestion and got the Spicy State St burger. Good burger but was not spicy at all. My big negative was the service. I was there eating alone (business travel) amongst other families and couples and apparently that made me invisible. I ordered a beer at the same time of my food. My food came and still didn't have a drink, had to ask another waitress to bring it to me. Never saw my waitress again until she showed to pick up my credit card and check (had to ask someone else for the check itself) a lot could ha w factored into this but would still go back to give them another try.

I met a friend here for dinner on a very hot Tuesday evening. We had a reservation. The outdoor area was surprisingly cool since it is shady. The chairs are quite uncomfortable, leaning back way too far, but it was nice to sit outside. Our server greeted us promptly with ice water and took our drink order. I don't drink beer, but my friend does and was impressed by the long list available. I had a glass of wine that was nice. The menu is typical American pub food and entrees. We each opted for dinner salads. They were fine, nothing fantastic, but nothing to complain about. Definitely overpriced, but that's the area ($20 for a salad with salmon). I would go again for the patio, but having dined inside previously, I wouldn't choose it at other times of the year or in inclement weather. There are many better options in Doylestown for dining, but if you want a beer and a burger, this is a great spot.

Above was extremely slow. My 5 year old word 20 mins for a lemonade, we only received 2 table settings and waited 5 minutes for napkins (well after the food arrived.) We had a veggie burger which was one of the worst I have ever had, fish and chips, worn very heavy breading, not light and fluffy and bland cheese quesadillas. We will not be back.
