We had a great time. We were a party of 6, it was our first time and the food and service was great. I've wanted to visit since I moved to Charleston 12 years ago. We took the opportunity to come because of restaurant week but ended up ordering off the regular menu. We are a group that loves the food and bev world and for some of us we spent years ourselves in the industry. Our server was great! Mark was very nice, personable and even laughed with us. I would love a cook book so we will be back :). The coconut cake was amazing, great wine and the best steak I've had in a while downtown. See you next time !

Food did not meet expectations. I ordered a 2 pound live Maine lobster. It was served, shell removed, broiled and butter soaked. It was not a 2 pound lobster. Prices are very high for the product. My second time dining at the restaurant. Both times were disappointing.

It was a very relaxing evening. The ambiance was delightful and romantic. The wait staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. I tried it for Restaurant Week and the three course meal was a great value. It is definitely one of the most romantic restaurants in Charleston and it was fun to get dressed up for the occasion.

Great food, went for Restaurant Week menu, but have been just for special occasions, many times. Had family members with us, as well. Enjoyed all our meals, but unfortunately, for what should be a "romantic" restaurant, it's way too noisy. Our only complaint about Peninsula Grill.

Had dinner here during restaurant week. Food and service excellent, actually beyond excellent, even though it was extremely busy with restaurant week going on. Baked oysters were amazing as well as the gem salads and entrees, flounder and pork loin. Definitely a great place to go for a special day or night out. Appreciated the help from the sommelier as well with choosing a wine. Top notch all the way, will return!

Im a local. As usual, the food and service were off the chart good. Going during Restaurant Week actual made it a value. Unlike many restaurants in Charleston during RW, the Peninsula Grill has a different menu every time. Great care and planning goes into all the meals. The service is the best I know in Charleston. It’s professional and not like the smarmy service some people like at Hall’s. The night we were there the noise level was higher than normal. I’ve heard unacceptably loud noise from the bar in past visits. But on this night it was coming from other diners. This was the exception, not the rule.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Charleston. The food is always excellent, and the service is exactly right...not overbearing or rushed, but there when you want or need something. Tonight, was no exception. Even though it was Charleston restaurant week, with a special-price menu, there was no compromise on the standards of food or service. A special treat, as always.

Forget the name but I had oysters in a cream and pernod sauce that was outstanding. Also the wedge salad was very good. Lots of bacon bits and stilton. Lovely old world atmosphere.

We were there New Year’s Eve and I was ill and could not get through the entire multi-hour event. The restaurant was wonderful in that they agreed to let us order one course a la cart on New Year’s Eve. What’s more, they treated us with grace and kindness which I will never forget.

I went here with my wife for my birthday. The meal was everything you would expect from a fine dining restaurant. The meal was incredible. The restaurant itself is very pretty. We were there in the winter, but the courtyard is gorgeous so dining there in the summer would be as nice as any place in Charleston. But it was the service that made the meal. Our server was extremely attentive. He made perfect recommendations for dinner. He even had taken the time to check the open table account to know my birthday was a couple days earlier, so despite the reservation just saying for a birthday, he introduced himself and then called us by name and wished me a happy belated birthday.

Excellent service, wonderful wine list, great food (both menu and specials) - you can't ask for more. We enjoyed three courses (soup/salad as a middle course), and the dinner specials (fish and scallops) - all excellent. The service is super good - friendly and not stuffy. Plan to return.

Dined on a Friday at 5:45 for our anniversary. The table was perfect with plenty of room between tables. The staff was most friendly and courteous and the meal delicious. We were even treated to an anniversary dessert. All in all, a special evening. We dine at this restaurant often as we are "locals" and always visit for special occasions.

Such a classy place, very southern, I like that the servers called my husband Mr. Jones instead of asking for a first name like so many retail places do now, so annoying! Impeccable service, my favorite dessert is the "gourmet" banana pudding with a glass of Veuve Clicquot! The food is delicious but not the very best I have had when compared to similar restaurants. But none are as elegantly southern as The Peninsula Grille in my opinion...
Will be back in the future when we visit Charleston again.

This restaurant is just 5 stars all around, but the service is second to none. It seems like everyone knows what everyone needs all the time without being annoying. Our server Cris was great with superior knowledge of the menu items. I had the flounder special which was served over shrimp and veggies, and it was great and served super hot! My husband had one of thebest strips steaks we ever had, (i tasted it too). His cheddar grits and English peas side dishes were equally as tasty. Cris had recommended the coconut cake, however, i had just ordered and received one in NJ for the christmas holiday which we shared at 3 different locations. This cake is just as good when ordered out of state as it was in the restaurant last time i was there. We did share a sundae which was anything but simple. The wine list is extensive and my hubby loves a good manhattan which was also made to his liking. Great place, and we will most definitely return.

Exceptional experience. Disappointed in the attire of some of the diners i.e. jeans, ugly Christmas sweaters, whether intentional or not, ugly is still ugly. When I checked the suggested attire, it stated jacket is preferred. There were few jackets without ties, three of us in jackets and ties, many very casually dressed. This should be a special dining experience with diners dressed appropriately. Otherwise, I have never been disappointed in the overall dining experience.

Average food at too high a price point.
Price does not enter into my opinion......so much as the disappointingly poor execution.
Scallop/shrimp combo was too heavily buttered , even after I requested, "light on the butter."
Butternut squash soup was so thick....it was hard to detect the vegetable element.
The best part of the evening.......Staff and ambience.

This has always been our go to place for a special evening so dinner on Christmas Eve seemed like a no brainer. In our opinion the restaurant has gotten a little to full of them selves, from the service to the food. A $36.00 piece of fish that is served with nothing else seems a bit ridiculous. There are far to many places in Charleston to have an excellent meal than here!

We had a nice dinner out around the holidays with family and friends. I would recommend going to this restaurant when outdoor seating is available. I think our experience would have been a litttle better at a different time of year. The ambience and wine list are far better than the food. The font on the wine list was tiny and made it difficult to read. It was hit or miss on the food. I had scallops that were a blah and did not taste fresh. My husband had the filet and it was fantastic. The sauces were excellent as well. The She Crab soup was okay. For what we paid for our dinner, I expected more from this restaurant.
