Wonderful dining experience--outstanding food, wine, service and ambiance. Chris, thanks for making our evening memorable. The she crab soup, oysters, scallops and swordfish were perfectly prepared and served. Topped off by a wonderful coconut cake that shouldn't be missed!
Food is stellar--consistently! The service was impeccable (Nabila) and we enjoyed our meal immensely as always.
We returned to the Peninsula Grill to enjoy our 30th anniversary. Last year, we experienced the Peninsula Grill for our 29th and enjoyed it immensely. This year we returned with great anticipation. It would have been nice if the occasion had been recognized by the restaurant in some manner. Unfortunately, it did not.
Perfect spot. Perfect dinner. Perfect restaurant.
Great dining experience at Peninsula Grill. The 3 way lobster appetizer is outstanding.
Great meal. Seafood, beef, sides, desserts, and drinks were all prepared perfectly.
Food was not nearly as good as the last time we dined 3 yrs ago. I did not like my beef tartare at all and my husband’s salmon was very fishy. Also, disappointed in the coconut cake. It was dry
We loved our night here. We requested a seat on the terrace and had a delicious meal. We shared the burrata salad, then I had the duck breast and my husband had the fish special. We were too stuffed for dessert but hope to come back for the coconut cake
The food was very good, but the service was very slow. In these times, I can forgive wait times on kitchen as we all know resources are low these days. However, the wait staff was well equipped for the number of tables they had and we sat with empty water drinks and no check ins for over 15 minutes....the attentiveness of our waiter was not good, but the food was excellent.
Peninsula Grill is a classic and it is beautiful. I was underwhelmed by everything else. We are from out of town and ate in other top restaurants that blew this away. My husband was happy with his scallops. I had salmon that comes with nothing. I ordered a potato side. They were both salty. The service was good if you like the stiff no frills. Go to Halls Chophouse. It blew this place away.
25th wedding anniversary
Food here is good but not great. It doesn’t live up to the hype. Atmosphere is lovely and staff is professional and accommodating.
Expectation was very high as the restaurant was ranked in the top 10 in the US by one organization, essentially putting it the same league as French Laundry and Daniel. With such a high bar I was disappointed with the quality of the food. The ambience and service was top notch. However they sold out of spiny lobster and my Maine lobster was inferior to many lobsters dishes I had elsewhere. The meat was on the tough side and slightly dry. The Colorado lamb chop came with a generous portion of 5 chops. It was cooked pink as we ordered. However the grease was all over the accompanying potatoes and vegetables, adding too strong a flavor to those elements. Nonetheless it is a very good fine dining restaurant, but just not close to the top 10 in my opinion.
Food was amazing and the staff was attentive and knowledgeable.
Exceptional in every way.
The peach burrata was wonderful. The scallops with lobster was also excellent. The cocktail and wine selection was wonderful . The service was good . A very nice restaurant . It would be nice if they had a dress code . A restaurant of this caliber should expect their patrons to not to wear shorts .
The staff was friendly, efficient and professional. The food was excellent and well presented. The menu was creative. However, the “ wine by the glass “ selection could be expanded.
Spectacular, as always!
The Peninsula Grill never fails to deliver. As a local to Charleston, this has been a longtime favorite! Delia, awesome service. Thanks!!
Wonderful dinner in an elegant space. Food was delicious and well-presented. Service was attentive and very professional. Our sommelier Nebilla was knowledgable and engaging and we enjoyed speaking with her. Everyone remembered we were celebrating a birthday and they all helped to make it a special night. Really well done!
Husband and I dined here for our anniversary. Having dined at PG previously, we have come to expect an exceptional overall experience. Food is always amazing, service is consistently excellent, and the ambiance is among the best in Charleston. That said, there was a large party seated next to us, and their conversation was loud and a bit obnoxious. Given the special occasion, we would have preferred to be seated in a more romantic location away from this group.
Excellent experience. Food, service and ambience were all top notch.
Enjoyable evening - the caviar presentation tastes as good as it looks
There is an abundance of ambiance at The Peninsula Grille. Everyone greeted us with a Happy Anniversary, as we were celebrating our 20th. Our server was good, he gave us the time and space to enjoy our meal. He didn’t interact much and didn’t offer recommendations. They have a wonderful, extensive wine list. We were celebrating so we chose a bottle of Veuve Cliqout. I had the scallops and they were delectable. My husband had the center cut filet and mashed potatoes and thought it was excellent. Overall, the food was outstanding! We saved some room for dessert and were not disappointed. The coconut cake was as good as all of the reviews said. We ate almost all of it. It was a wonderful place to have an anniversary dinner. We would definitely return here on our next trip to Charleston.
Excellence in everything. Service and food spectacular.
One of our favorite restaurants with reliably excellent food and quiet atmosphere. Service was excellent until we had to share our server, Delia, with a very large table of more than 12, but that is understandable. Delia provided exceptional knowledge and information ranging from the seasonal migration of pompano to differences in sherry and the art on the walls.
Superb service and food. Perfect spot for us to reunite with friends that we haven’t seen in 25 years.
Simply outstanding and yummy. Erich (GM) may greet you at the front - he follows up to make sure all is going well. Cris our server was very helpful on suggestions - we both had the Burrata special salad - they make the Burrata there - it was incredible. We both had the Ahi Tuna Special entree - melted in your mouth with wonderful flavors. Great wine list and the ambiance is perfect for a fine dining outing - will go back many many times. 😊😊😊.
Great place. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and service.
Fantastic and amazing
Service was super slow. Waitress never came back to ask how our food was or take additional drink orders once we were served. Food was good but not worth it for the money.
Enjoyed dining at this classic Charleston restaurant for my birthday. Service was great and the food was delicious.
We were anticipating an excellent dining experience given the reviews; however, this restaurant provided the worst service in our 50+ years of fine dining. None of the staff wanted to be there and I saw no smiles or cordial behavior. I was scolded by the (I'll use a nice term) unsophisticated server when asking about the fish of the day. This restaurant can use many excuses for their horrible service, e.g., Covid staffing issues and it was a Sunday, but never have I been abused by wait staff, let alone during a $150 mediocre meal. We dine in the best restaurants of New York, London, New Orleans, Tokyo, etc. and know what to expect in highly rated establishments. Avoid this restaurant--we will never go back. Fortunately, our next stop was New Orleans with reservations for Commander's Palace, Galaitoir's, and Arnaud's!
Absolutely a fabulous dining experience! We have visited many restaurants in Charleston, and this is by far, one of our favorites.
It was a great experience to go to this type of restaurant, especially for my son who was with me since he is in college for his Culinary Arts Degree.
PG is always good with incredible food and drinks. Attentive service without being obtrusive. My favorite high end restaurant.
Great food, service and ambience! Great place for a special occasion.
The food, service and atmosphere were outstanding! My wife had the scallops and I had the lamb. Both were absolutely delicious. We shared a piece of the coconut cake to wind down our evening. It was fabulous. Anyone looking for a very special evening should go to the Peninsula Grill in Charleston.
Everything was perfect! We were celebrating our anniversary. The host immediately wishes us a happy anniversary. Our server was excellent. The She crab soup, Scallops and my husband got a Filet. All were perfect. Also, I got the Jalapeño Passion fruit margarita which was wonderful as well. Everything was truly perfect. Thanks for a great evening.
