The Courtyard was noisy - children running around screaming and diners dressed more like an outing to McDonalds than fine dining. The steak, ordered medium rare, was bloody and cold inside. Not what one would expect from a restaurant of this reputation.

We found the food and the service at Peninsula Grill to be the best in the city! However the ambiance is really flat. I’m not even sure they had background music playing. For the money, it really didn’t feel like anyplace special.

It’s a very nice restaurant for sure. The service was good. I ordered the Prime ribeye 16oz, how could I go wrong with that , right? I ordered it cooked med rare, as did my husband. His was perfect! My steak came out very rare to the point of being uneatable. It was so bad! And this was an $80 steak.
I let our server know and they were very surprised to see how red it was. And took the plate back to show the chef. Then nothing. No one approached us to say how sorry they were ir anything. I did say I did
Not want anything else when the plate was taken. We though it was overlooked because they were busy. But then saw we were, of course, not charged for it. No personal attention to a very big problem. Maybe I expect too much. Just overall not impressed.

The salad itself was nice however the dressing needed seasoning. The scallops were perfectly cooked, but the tiny lobster medallions were swimming in beurre blanc and the dish needed more green (bok choy?) Excessively priced for what was served. Service was superior and ambiance spot on.

Food is good - not great. Portion sizes for entrees are appetizer size and small. They’re very stingy with their drink pours, but charge double anywhere else. The ambience feels like you’re in a hotel restaurant, as you are. The service isn’t overly friendly or that good really. For the money, expected much better. I don’t recommend, and as a local, won’t be back. This is the most overrated restaurant in CHS.

As always, food and service was fabulous. Never felt rushed with just the right amount of attention. Normally it is very quiet however we were seated next to a large party so noise level a little louder than normal. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Such a disappointment! I had high expectations and wanted to love Peninsula Grill. Unfortunately it fell short in all respects. Our waitress was extremely inattentive. It took 30 minutes to get a cocktail. The sommelier offered to help and make wine recommendations, but he didn't check back for 35 minutes- I had to flag him down. Water glasses were not filled without asking. The food was good, but the portions were very small and overpriced.

Our first visit was 4 years ago. We were anxious to dine again after an exceptional first experience. Service was extremely slow and food was just ok this time around. Expensive in comparison to other favorite spots in Charleston. We had scallops (3) with lobster medallions - which seemed undercooked.

Wonderful dining experience--outstanding food, wine, service and ambiance. Chris, thanks for making our evening memorable. The she crab soup, oysters, scallops and swordfish were perfectly prepared and served. Topped off by a wonderful coconut cake that shouldn't be missed!

We returned to the Peninsula Grill to enjoy our 30th anniversary. Last year, we experienced the Peninsula Grill for our 29th and enjoyed it immensely. This year we returned with great anticipation. It would have been nice if the occasion had been recognized by the restaurant in some manner. Unfortunately, it did not.

Food was not nearly as good as the last time we dined 3 yrs ago. I did not like my beef tartare at all and my husband’s salmon was very fishy. Also, disappointed in the coconut cake. It was dry

We loved our night here. We requested a seat on the terrace and had a delicious meal. We shared the burrata salad, then I had the duck breast and my husband had the fish special. We were too stuffed for dessert but hope to come back for the coconut cake

The food was very good, but the service was very slow. In these times, I can forgive wait times on kitchen as we all know resources are low these days. However, the wait staff was well equipped for the number of tables they had and we sat with empty water drinks and no check ins for over 15 minutes....the attentiveness of our waiter was not good, but the food was excellent.

Peninsula Grill is a classic and it is beautiful. I was underwhelmed by everything else. We are from out of town and ate in other top restaurants that blew this away. My husband was happy with his scallops. I had salmon that comes with nothing. I ordered a potato side. They were both salty. The service was good if you like the stiff no frills. Go to Halls Chophouse. It blew this place away.

Expectation was very high as the restaurant was ranked in the top 10 in the US by one organization, essentially putting it the same league as French Laundry and Daniel. With such a high bar I was disappointed with the quality of the food. The ambience and service was top notch. However they sold out of spiny lobster and my Maine lobster was inferior to many lobsters dishes I had elsewhere. The meat was on the tough side and slightly dry. The Colorado lamb chop came with a generous portion of 5 chops. It was cooked pink as we ordered. However the grease was all over the accompanying potatoes and vegetables, adding too strong a flavor to those elements. Nonetheless it is a very good fine dining restaurant, but just not close to the top 10 in my opinion.

The peach burrata was wonderful. The scallops with lobster was also excellent. The cocktail and wine selection was wonderful . The service was good . A very nice restaurant . It would be nice if they had a dress code . A restaurant of this caliber should expect their patrons to not to wear shorts .

Wonderful dinner in an elegant space. Food was delicious and well-presented. Service was attentive and very professional. Our sommelier Nebilla was knowledgable and engaging and we enjoyed speaking with her. Everyone remembered we were celebrating a birthday and they all helped to make it a special night. Husband and I dined here for our anniversary. Having dined at PG previously, we have come to expect an exceptional overall experience. Food is always amazing, service is consistently excellent, and the ambiance is among the best in Charleston. That said, there was a large party seated next to us, and their conversation was loud and a bit obnoxious. Given the special occasion, we would have preferred to be seated in a more romantic location away from this group.
