Peninsula Grill Ratings and Reviews
Went during restaurant week to check out the Grill. Everything was fabulous. The wait staff, hostess, bartender - everyone was great. We had an early reservation (restaurant week Saturday) but never felt rushed or pushed. Diego our server was attentive but not pushy. We will definately return!
Restaurant week is always a perfect time to dine at one of Charleston's finest places.
We have fond memories of eating here in the past with a dear couple. Since the passing of the husband we try to still go with his wife to places that were special to him. Of course, he always had to order the coconut cake, which we did in his honor and our taste buds. David was our server and was most attentive and accommodating.
My wife and I had a wonderful time here. We came to town for restaurant week and ate at three high end restaurants. This is by far our favorite. Our meals were well prepared, well presented and delicious. I had the flounder which was superb and my wife had an excellently prepared pork tenderloin. The service here is second to none the waitstaff attentive without being annoying. The atmosphere is quiet and romantic. We’ve been to the Peninsula Grill twice and will go again.
We had a great time. We were a party of 6, it was our first time and the food and service was great. I've wanted to visit since I moved to Charleston 12 years ago. We took the opportunity to come because of restaurant week but ended up ordering off the regular menu. We are a group that loves the food and bev world and for some of us we spent years ourselves in the industry. Our server was great! Mark was very nice, personable and even laughed with us. I would love a cook book so we will be back :). The coconut cake was amazing, great wine and the best steak I've had in a while downtown. See you next time !
Food did not meet expectations. I ordered a 2 pound live Maine lobster. It was served, shell removed, broiled and butter soaked. It was not a 2 pound lobster. Prices are very high for the product. My second time dining at the restaurant. Both times were disappointing.
It was a very relaxing evening. The ambiance was delightful and romantic. The wait staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. I tried it for Restaurant Week and the three course meal was a great value. It is definitely one of the most romantic restaurants in Charleston and it was fun to get dressed up for the occasion.
Great food, went for Restaurant Week menu, but have been just for special occasions, many times. Had family members with us, as well. Enjoyed all our meals, but unfortunately, for what should be a "romantic" restaurant, it's way too noisy. Our only complaint about Peninsula Grill.
Had dinner here during restaurant week. Food and service excellent, actually beyond excellent, even though it was extremely busy with restaurant week going on. Baked oysters were amazing as well as the gem salads and entrees, flounder and pork loin. Definitely a great place to go for a special day or night out. Appreciated the help from the sommelier as well with choosing a wine. Top notch all the way, will return!
Im a local. As usual, the food and service were off the chart good. Going during Restaurant Week actual made it a value. Unlike many restaurants in Charleston during RW, the Peninsula Grill has a different menu every time. Great care and planning goes into all the meals. The service is the best I know in Charleston. It’s professional and not like the smarmy service some people like at Hall’s. The night we were there the noise level was higher than normal. I’ve heard unacceptably loud noise from the bar in past visits. But on this night it was coming from other diners. This was the exception, not the rule.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Charleston. The food is always excellent, and the service is exactly right...not overbearing or rushed, but there when you want or need something. Tonight, was no exception. Even though it was Charleston restaurant week, with a special-price menu, there was no compromise on the standards of food or service. A special treat, as always.
We were there New Year’s Eve and I was ill and could not get through the entire multi-hour event. The restaurant was wonderful in that they agreed to let us order one course a la cart on New Year’s Eve. What’s more, they treated us with grace and kindness which I will never forget.
I went here with my wife for my birthday. The meal was everything you would expect from a fine dining restaurant. The meal was incredible. The restaurant itself is very pretty. We were there in the winter, but the courtyard is gorgeous so dining there in the summer would be as nice as any place in Charleston. But it was the service that made the meal. Our server was extremely attentive. He made perfect recommendations for dinner. He even had taken the time to check the open table account to know my birthday was a couple days earlier, so despite the reservation just saying for a birthday, he introduced himself and then called us by name and wished me a happy belated birthday.
Excellent service, wonderful wine list, great food (both menu and specials) - you can't ask for more. We enjoyed three courses (soup/salad as a middle course), and the dinner specials (fish and scallops) - all excellent. The service is super good - friendly and not stuffy. Plan to return.
Dined on a Friday at 5:45 for our anniversary. The table was perfect with plenty of room between tables. The staff was most friendly and courteous and the meal delicious. We were even treated to an anniversary dessert. All in all, a special evening. We dine at this restaurant often as we are "locals" and always visit for special occasions.
