Peninsular Grill is a beautiful place for dinner. We chose this Charleston landmark for my 60th birthday celebration with Friends. Almost Everyone completely enjoyed their meal. I had the evening special, Flounder served with grits and greens. The flounder was disappointing. It was over cooked and dry. The rest of the meal was excellent.
Peninsula Grill is my favorite Charleston Restaurant. The scallops were amazing. My friend had the lamb chops and he said they were excellent. Clam appetizer was also very good. The service is always outstanding. The entire atmosphere is superb. And then there is THAT cake.
We celebrated another anniversary at PG and, once again, the experience was amazing. The only thing we would have changed is not forgetting to bring home the champagne cork ;)

Amazing experience, as always! Rack of lamb was perfect, as were my scallops. The lobster three-way appetizer was amazing!
Romantic place at the bar. Nice ambience at the bar. Did not like very much how the main dinning room is set up.
Girls trip
Like The Holy City herself, PG never disappoints! The champagne was perfectly chilled, the oysters were sweet, the entrees superb, and the coconut cake lives up to the hype.
Nearly outshining the meal was the service offered by Justin. He was humble and solicitous yet confident and knowledgeable. His recommendations were on point and his subtle charm is perfectly suited for a special occasion dinner in Charleston.
We look forward to our next visit.
Fantastic all the way around! Great experience.
One of the two most exquisite venues in Charleston. Not to be missed.
Great atmosphere and excellent service! Our experience was incredible as was the food! The coconut cake is a must!
Magnificent service and cuisine
The ultimate dining experience! Dave was a phenomenal guide for us and his recommendations were spot on. The she crab soup, the ribeye and the goat cheese smashed potatoes were perfect. The coconut cake is world class and can’t be missed!
Great service excellent food. Worth a visit!
Fabulous. A wonderful evening. Genuine staff and excellent food made for a memorable evening.
Wonderful restaurant and right across the street from Belmond Charleston Place where we were staying. Beautiful setting. We stayed for dessert and drinks only. I think it’s strange though that the restaurant wants to know if we plan to have dessert only and seems to not have the ability to have flexibility if we want to have appetizers or other things on the menu. Dinner was still ongoing at the time we went. Most restaurants of this caliber don’t have such restrictions.
Amazing place and staff. Highly recommended. The filet was the best I have eaten in Charleston.
We were celebrating a birthday, and Peninsula Grill was the request of our friend who was celebrating. Our evening was perfect, from beginning to end! The food was delicious, and the level of service made the occasion so special. Our waitress was friendly and informative, loved her! Our vegetarian friend had a meal made for her that she loved. We all enjoyed the evening immensely, and look forward to returning!
exceptional service. food, wine, ambience and location
Everything was wonderful!!! Our server Jonathan was so attentive and the food was amazing.
Everything was fantastic! Food was superb. I had a flounder special— flounder served atop grits so creamy I almost thought they were mashed potatoes! Hubby had a steak that was perfection!! Lobster app was yummy as was the coconut cake. Our server, Josh was outstanding!! He was so passionate about the foods, down to the salt served with the bread and butter!
The food was fantastic and service was, for the most part, also fantastic. It seemed at times a bit slow. But, overall, the experience was outstanding!
Delicious food, excellent service and a very nice atmosphere. Enjoyed the Thanksgiving menu very much possibly with the exception of the squash course which none of us completed. The turkey was succulent however and they made my son happy by providing extra mashed potatoes. Very nice meal.
Disappointed after all the hype around this restaurant. Be prepared to overpay for entrees. $42 for 3 Scallops and $44 for moderate size Flounder special. Small plate portions at large plate prices. Overall food was good but not great, especially considering value. Our waitress recommended we order 2 glasses of Sinskey Pinot Noir at $27 a glass. The most I've ever paid for a single glass of wine by the glass. Our thinking was if it was that pricey it had to be at least good if not great. WRONG! A lot of bite that over powered any wine flavor. Tasted like it needed to be decanted and breathe for a day or more. Tasted like a $10 bottle of Pinot Noir from Harris Teeter. The restaurant setting and interiors were very upscale Charleston. The wait staff was pleasant and attentive. Dessert was the best course. High prices mean higher expections, plus the harshness of the Sinskey Pinot Noir@ $27 was a disappointment.
We were looking for a special place for dinner for our first trip to Charleston and boy oh boy, this delivered on all levels. From the greeting at the door, to the service, and on to the meal, it could not have been any better! Everyone was most attentive and yet, found the balance to not make you feel rushed in any way. Our experience was absolutely terrific and not only would I recommend Peninsula Grill to others, will make a point to return on our next visit. This is truly and exceptional dining experience that should not be missed!!
The endive salad had too much onions, service was rushed.
Enjoyed all aspects of the evening. Wine was excellent, rack of lamb was superb, filet was very good. Cocoanut cake was great. Wait staff was attentive.
It was wonderful from the drinks to the Apps to the meal. A FINE dining experience.
Does not get any better than that
Excellent food and service.
Beautiful, classic venue. Excellent service. Delicious food. A bit more expensive than I would have liked, but I get that it's an experience.
Great service and food as always!
Good but A bit pricey for what we had. Lots of choices for bottles of wine, but not much choice by the glass. We have been here many times, unfortunately, our favorite coconut cake did not seem up to par.
My very favorite Charleston restaurant. I make an effort to dine at the Peninsula Grill whenever visiting. On this last visit I had the thickest lamb that was cooked perfectly. My husband had the scallops and loved them. We indulged in dessert as well. While the coconut cake is a great choice, I wanted to try something different on this visit and was not disappointed.
Although it has limited seating, I also recommend the bar for a perfect drink, champagne or glass of wine. The bartenders are excellent.
If you want a special treat in a lovely setting, You won’t go wrong in choosing this restaurant.
Great meal. My wife and I were celebrating her 60th birthday and both felt it was a tremendous experience. Great food and service made for a wonderful evening.
From start to finish, an incredible experience. Ambiance is warm and classy. Service was very professional and good. Food was simply outstanding.
Service was fantastic but the steak was not what you would expect from a dinner at this price point.
Great food and excellent service. Everyone treats you like family
We had a wonderful dining experience at Peninsula Grill. The service is the best in Charleston, so attentive and warm. The entrees of Halibut and Chicken were delicious. Wished we had saved room for renowned Coconut Cake!
