    Normally we have a great experience here, we had a 8:45 reservation which was obviously too late for the restaurant, by that time they were way behind, it just made a a fine dining experience not so fine….think twice about going so late it did not live up to our previous experiences there……

    Very nice restaurant with great old Charleston ambience. Service was excellent and very professional. Sport coats en vogue here. Don’t have to have them, but it’s that kind of place for sure. All the foods were unique, delicious, and well presented. Our table had the salmon, swordfish, New York strip, and whole snapper. Coconut cake for dessert and it definitely lived up to the billing!

    From great service at the hostess stand all the way through dessert, everything was beyond outstanding. Corey provided Great service and many kudos to the chefs as well.

    The website requested business casual; jackets preferred. Sorry but I'm old fashion in that you should dress appropriately for a night out. Saw a number of men enter in jeans and sneakers. I understand people don't get dressed up today, but if I am eating in what is considered a fine restaurant, I don't need to see a patron in a t-shirt.

    Still one of the top 2 restaurants in downtown Charleston. Exceptional service, wine list, menu and of course, coconut cake!! Best grouper I can remember eating. Perfect! Our server was warm, engaging and attentive. It is always a special occasion at Peninsula Grill.

    My waitress was superb. I arrived at the restaurant too early and I thought the hostess would let me in and sit at the table which I planned to order a drink, however, she didn’t. But the other hostess was nicer with sincere attitude.

    We had been looking forward to this night for a long time as we had all been there before the pandemic. We were greatly disappointed with the service. We were quickly seated and the hostess was very friendly. Then the “ wait” began. When we began to order wine we felt dismissed by the sommelier because we wanted a wine by the glass. After a while our server took our wine order and tried to oversell us into ordering bottles which we finally did. This was a mistake as after the first glass of champagne and red wine no one ever came to our table to pour more wine. Our champagne was taken away from the table and put on ice and we had to request it two more times and we got it after our meal was completely finished. Upon ordering food, the server seemed disappointed that only one of us wanted a first course.  We should not have been made to feel this way. After we ordered, we never saw our server again for the entire meal until after we were completely finished. The best part of the evening was the food. The steaks were some of the best I have ever eaten. We were there over 2 1/2 hours which we spent waiting on service. This is not Relais and Chateaux service. Overall a disappointing experience.

    My husband had the scallops and I had the fillet with Yukon gold mashed potatoes. We finished the meal with the delicious coconut cake. All of the food was delicious and the staff was great.

    Enjoyed a wonderful dinner celebrating our 35 th wedding anniversary, the food was wonderful and our waitress Stephanie was attentive and pleasant! I would recommend this restaurant if you want a special dinner while in Charleston!

    Service staff very friendly. Food was OK. The halibut was dry. The mashed potatoes were satisfactory. The steak was very good. The bread was very good. Ate on the patio, there was a dog that customers had brought who barked intermittently. As far as value for the money… probably would not eat here again.

    Extremely disappointed with our server at Peninsula Grill. To me the service at a Four Star restaurant is as important as the food and ambiance. It took 2o minutes from being seated to take our drink order, and then at least 10 additional minutes for her to bring them from the bar. Considering it was a Sunday night, and the restaurant was maybe at 80% capacity with numerous wait staff around, it was in our mind unacceptable. I was a bartender and a waitress and feel like I give grace when due. We were not asked if we wanted to order appetizers when she delivered our drinks,so the next time she came by I said we were ready to order both appetizers and entrees. Three wait staff delivered appetizers and we ordered a round of drinks with our server when she came to confirm our appetizers were to our liking. Sadly, our wonderful meal came, and we never saw our server or our drinks. Once we had finished we told another waitress to please cancel our drink order and just bring the check. It was our daughter’s birthday but at this point we had been there 2 hours and I was less than pleased. Obviously she told our server who came and apologized and blamed the bar for the lack of drinks (there were 4 people at the bar when we left). She did kindly bring our daughter a birthday dessert and a piece of coconut cake to go when bringing our check. Most definitely not the service we have had there before! We will not be rushing to go back. There are too many amazing restaurants in Charleston to not at least get better than average service.

    Service was great! The squash and quinoa salad was delicious. The swordfish I had was the best I’ve ever eaten, great asparagus and whipped potatoes. The best was the lovely presentation of the coconut layer cake decorated with Happy Birthday written in dark chocolate, raspberry sauce and strawberries. The dessert was magnificent. I loved how it was presented with a lit candle. What a wonderful evening!

    very very very disappointed. so experience and such small portions. we got lamb chops and the size portion was ridiculous for $65. the waiter was fair. when I asked about the specials he said he didn’t know. when he came back to the table he told us of one halibut special and neglected to tell us the other ones. We were looking forward to the coconut cake and it was delicious. they cut way down in the size for the same price. Dinner with tip $100. We weee starving!!! that is with no liquor. What a rip off!!!

    Food was very good. Nice wine selection. Perfect table and ambiance for an anniversary, The only problem was that the waiter kept forgetting about my wheat and cow milk allergy. Good thing I checked each course when they came to the table. For the $$, the wait staff needs to be better.

    Very easy to secure a reservation online at this dining venue. The food presentation and the waitstaff were outstanding.

    Noise level in main dining room was high, took 90 minutes for dinners to arrive. Steak was wonderful, rack of lamb was very good but you get one chop and two small pieces for $65. Wine list is impressive, but expensive. Coconut cake is a must!

    For starters, it took 2 1/2 hours from beginning to end for our experience. Our waiter was rather slow leading us to believe he had too many tables??? Asked if we could do substitutions and he said he would check, 15 minutes later he came back and never asked then said it wasn’t allowed. That was inacceptable. The staff were not very friendly or very attentive.
