What a great night with old friends at Peninsula Grill. We went for restaurant week and the menu was excellent. Our waiter Josh took good care of us and helped make the night special.
We ate here tonight and we were not disappointed. We started with the beef tartar (probably the best I’ve ever had) and the the yellow fin tuna. Next we had NY Strip and Ribeye. Both were cooked to perfection and the sides were excellent, goat cheese potatoes and brussel sprouts. For dessert we indulged on Banana panna cotta chocolate pudding and coconut cake. Overall a wonderful meal with excellent service!
I can’t imagine a better place for a Birthday or special occasion. Thank you Peninsula Grill for another special Birthday dinner.
Iconic and high end. Excellent dining experience with well prepared food and good service. She-crab soup was good, but I’ve had it at other places with more crab. The swordfish was spectacular. They’re famous coconut cake is delicious and a must do. Very good place for a special night out.
One of the best meals in Charleston, service was perfect, the food excellent, this is a phenominal restaurant
As always, P. Grill lived up to our high expectations. It’s been 10 or 12 years since our last visit , but this is still our favorite Charleston restaurant for a special occasion.
I do restaurant week with my two good friends every season and this has by far been the best place we’ve been
All personnel were courteous and attentive to ensure our experience was wonderful. The meal was outstanding.
We went during restaurant week. The filet, service and atmosphere were all excellent. The rest of the food was only so/so. The cakes we got were a little dry and the the shrimp tartine didn't have a lot of flavor. The scallops were okay but they were a $15 upcharge and you only got 3 so I wished we had gotten something different.
We liked everything about our visit to Peninsula Grill, our first ever. Our server Robert was excellent without being obsequious; the food was delicious and the ambience peaceful and inviting. We will return soon.
Service was excellent and food was great.
Chris our server was AMAZING!! She taught me about cognac and the interior of the restaurant and listened to me rattle on about personal stories...she was just the best, even though we were there for restaurant week she treated us just like regular customers which made us feel great. The bar was great , the lemon ginger sparkler was to die and the wine list was well deserving of the wine spectator award of excellence with bottles ranging from $40-$1400 able to suit any palate or cuisine. Our ‘96 St.Stephen for $230 was a great value that paired well with the wedge, the tartine, the filet , and the ossso bucco. Also, the velvet walls of the the restaurant are the most luxurious and beautiful I have ever seen... Amelia Handegan out did her self. Everything I thought Peninsula Grill would be ... it was!!!!!
Always a delight. Food, service and ambiance spot on.
Peninsula Grill has never failed us. This was Restaurant Week, but it's our "go to" restaurant for special occasions or whenever we want to treat ourselves.
Best restaurant week menu by far. Delicious from beginning to end. Impeccable service, fantastic food, beautiful dining room. Will definitely have to come back for our anniversary dinner. Thank you to our waitress Delia and her coworkers who made our Sunday dinner and restaurant week experience one to remember!
This is a very upscale restaurant attached to the Planters Inn in downtown Charleston. We went there for SC Restaurant Week, as they were participating. A great value during restaurant week but a bit pricey if not.
The food was excellent, the service by Johnathan was superb!! Great server. He was friendly, informative and we never felt rushed. My shrimp tartine app was excellent as was my pork osso bucco main course. I had the chocolate Guinness cake for dessert, but found that to be dry. The filet mignon's were described as excellent, as well as the flounder.
Odd dressing on the wedge salad, but my wife finished it with no problem. The Butterbean soup was also described as excellent.
We would recommend this place during restaurant week. Couldn't afford it otherwise.
Jonathan, our server, was outstanding. Great recommendations, excellent timing and a wonderful sense of humor. This restaurant is special.
We jumped into getting a reservation during Charleston restaurant week. The menu was great and gave each of us something else to try. The Flounder was fresh, light and perfectly cooked. The soup and shrimp tartine was excellent. Our server was informative and had great recommendations. All in all a great evening.
Elizabeth was the greatest yet! She took such good care of us. Food outstanding as always.
Everything was perfect!
We love Peninsula Grill and choose it for special occasions. Always exceptional dining in a cozy atmosphere. The service is excellent as well. Highly recommended.
One of best restaurNts in the country and restaurant week special was a bonus
A wonderful place to create memories and share a great experience. Food was delicious and the staff very attentive.
This is one our favorite restaurants out many. The staff are wonderful people.
The wedge salad and desserts were excellent! Our service was top notch.
Outstanding selection for Restaurant Week. Ample portions.
This was our first visit. The food was outstanding and the service was exceptional. We picked this restaurant based on their participation in Restaurant Week in Charleston. Based on our visit, we will certainly plan to return! The entire staff really made us feel special; this is a well run restaurant!
Another wonderful evening at the Peninsula Grill! Fabulous food, fabulous environment and fabulous people! Hard to achieve in the hospitality area these days!
Outstanding dinner .... again ... excellent service and excellent food ! Beautiful surroundings ! Will return again next year for our anniversary ! We come every year !
This is a restaurant we have frequented recently and often. We have always found the food and service to be impeccable. In our last visit, our wait person could not answer our questions regarding the wines and said he would ask the right person to attend to us. He came back to say she was currently with another table, but would soon make it to us. When she arrived, she immediately apologized for our wait. To my mind, this is just another indication of the gracious service the Peninsula Grill provides. One expects that with such quality of food/preparation and service, prices would be higher than others of lesser standing; hence, if you define "value" as getting what you paid for, then the value is good.
Asked for a window table versus middle of room table and the Hostesses immediately accommodated our request.
Service is equally matched by the food and wine.
The seating was fast, the vibe was perfect,
The waiter was attentive, and the food was excellent. I would highly recommend and will continue to frequent this restaurant in the future!!
Fantastic food and wine and the service was perfect. Rick our server was amazing as was Mark the sommelier.

Here is an example of a helpful review:
I love the refined feel of this place – elegant and understated. I definitely would return again to try more dishes. The she-crab soup was amazing and the best I’ve ever had. The sirloin strip and filets were both cooked to perfection and we enjoyed the goat cheese potato and butter bean sides. If you like coconut cake then you will fall in love with theirs! Service Staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and made us feel special. We celebrated two birthdays in our party of six and we all agreed we will return next year for our celebratory dinner! Well worth the price for a wonderful dining experience.
The Peninsula Grill is one of the finest restaurants in Charleston. I enjoyed taking a friend and her son there. She had not been in years, and it was his first time. The service was five star quality. The food was delicious. I had the duck breast, she had the scallops and he had a huge rib eye. The lobster three way appetizer melted in our mouths. The wine selection is superb. I highly recommend it.
Food was average for the price, nicely presented and very fresh etc but flavors underwhelming. I enjoyed the bread the most. We enjoyed the cocktails but the wine list, whilst relatively good, contains overpriced wines. It has a 5 star feel but the taste of the food doesn’t support it.
The hostess was young and inexperienced but the server and the rest of the team was phenomenal! The coconut cake to end the evening was everything we hoped for, and it was a lovely experience overall!!
Perfect execution of service, delightful food.
