My wife and I went to Peninsula Grill while we were on vacation in Charleston. We read the reviews and saw that they were ranked in the top 10 fine dining restaurants in the country so we were willing to spend the money. I was quite disappointed. The wine list is outstanding and the service was very good, but the food was nowhere near what I expected. My wife got the crab soup and she enjoyed it but it was very rich. I got the escargot and was not impressed. I have had much better. My wife got the lobster trio appetizer for dinner and it came out cold and the lobster medallion was chewy. Lobster is her favorite and she didn’t even finish it. I got the $65 rack of lamb and I have made better at home on my grill. The feta was a strange choice and there was no sauce or gravy. Personally, I would never go back especially for the $250 bill for what I consider an average meal.

Did not like the new seating arrangements. The former interior was rich and welcoming. The loss of the cozy booths on the left hand side of the dining room is a shame. The wooden, country house style chairs in the dining room are the opposite of chic. Looking around I felt I was more at a Cracker Barrel than a sophisticated, top ranked Charleston restaurant. The service and food quality were there....

I watched this place on several TV shows. To actually go there was so exciting. The service was warm and the staff enchanting. When my food came the plate looked skimpy but before I knew it. I was full.

I took my nine year-old granddaughter on a special date to Peninsula Grill. Robert made her feel very special and grown, she had a special ginger-lime mocktail, a big bowl of she-crab soup, and the salmon entree. Of course we finished with coconut cake. For the life of me I don’t know why I don’t just order the foie gras for each course. The scallops were wonderful also. Thanks for helping me expand a little one’s palate and worldview. She was made to feel welcome and encouraged to behave as an elegant young woman.

Haven’t been to Peninsula Grill in awhile and it didn’t disappoint. Fantastic Rack of Lamb and if you love Foie Gras you have to go.
All around a great experience. The food was exceptional and service great. Indoor dining was appropriately social distanced, clean, and still created a nice experience.

Loved everything! Food, service, atmosphere. Great place.
Not impressed.
We selected Peninsula Grill to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed. Our server, Jessica, was absolutely amazing. From the moment she greeted us, she was fantastic. Her recommendations were spot on and she was very attentive throughout our dinner experience. We both had the she crab soup, which was amazing, and the filets with goat cheese mashed potatoes and the beans. The only downside was the steaks were a little saltier than we liked, but they were cooked perfectly and very tender. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we look forward to returning when we can sit out on the gorgeous patio.

Boring French easy tricks cusine. May impress mainstream people but not good enough for Charleston
Another recommendation for our trip to Charleston was this restaurant. It was a terrific experience. Our server was just wonderful, food exceptionally good and the finale of the the 12 layer coconut cake with a great cup of coffee could not have been better. A must go to place for dining.

This place is the definition of fine dining. Beautiful decor and exceptional service that showcases the delicious food such as seared scallops or rack of lamb. The 12 layer coconut cake is a must have. We will be back!!

Classic high end grill. Menu is high quality and not fussy. Not a trendy place at all. Old school. Coconut cake is overrated, just a tower of sweet frosting.
I have been here several times and it never fails to impress me and my guests.
Our waitress Deilia was fabulous! The scallops were delicious and my husband had the filet. Cooked to perfection! Coconut Cake melted in your mouth! Can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely PERFECT!
This was my first experience at PG and I was not impressed. The service was subpar, we had dirty dishes piling up on the table throughout the meal, ordered a few things that never arrived. The steaks and lobster were delicious, but the whipped potatoes had no salt and were basically inedible. For the price point and reputation of this Charleston mainstay I expected a much better standard of service and cuisine. Will not return.
Our server Joanna was awful. She was rude to us. As long as she works there we will not come back!!!
