Perfect. Keeps us coming back!!
We had a delightful brunch there on the back patio.
My Wife and I like to eat there before attending performances at the Trinity Street Theatre.
Food & Margaritas were great! The service was very SLOW. Had to ask multiple times for chips, water and check. I would come again, but don’t set your expectations high on the service side of things. We were there at 5pm with less than 1/3 of tables filled.
Good experience. Has a very casual vibe. Food was good, was a great place for group of coworkers to have a nice evening.
The service was absolutely terrible and the food was cold when we got it. We were one of 4 tables seated, there was no reason for anything we experienced.
Absolutely terrific. Keeps us coming back to this Red River sweet spot!
First time here after living and dining out in Austin for 20 years. We LOVED it! Took family to Pelon's for Easter lunch. Salsa, quac and queso all were fantastic and loved by whole family. I ordered basic beef enchiladas and they were simply the best I've ever had. Teen sons ordered the Ranch Hand Quesidillas and were happy as clams (no veggies!). Wife enjoyed the fish tacos. Mexican martini was perfect. And our server, Karen, did a superb job. Was friendly and efficient. Finally, it was my birthday and they comp'ed us a Tres Leches dessert. The whole family enjoyed sharing one generous slice. We will be back!
Absolutely fantastic. The food. The service. The ambience. We’ll be back!
Great outdoor seating with great food.
We had a great experience! The food the margaritas and service were exceptional!
We went there before a concert at Stubb’s. The cheese enchiladas were amazing and the margaritas were too. A great way to get ready for some fun!
Food seemed like it came from a cab. Unacceptable!!
Unfortunately we were not greeted warmly by the hostess and I question the food portions as I ordered the fajitas for two to share and another friend ordered for one and they were identically portioned.
The food is mediocre, as in salty enchiladas and bland tacos. Guacamole with too much jalepeño, replacing flavor with heat. I did enjoy the salsa, but I feel like I've had it before.
The cocktails are absolutely terrible. The house margarita very clearly uses a mix; I guess it's too hard to use fresh ingredients. The other two cocktails we tried were not well made (and one was almost certainly just wrong, but the server was sure we were).
We skipped dessert.
This restaurant is quaint but good Tex-Mex. I’m only a Tex-Mex fan and this hit the spot. The salsa had the right amount of spice and chicken fajitas were bomb!
Food was good. Service was very slow. It took more than 30 minutes to get our food and drinks. I think this can be improved. We enjoyed ourselves and the food. It just took too long.
Good TexMex but not top 5. Great service. Convenient location.
Great place. Can’t believe it took me so long to get there but will be back soon.
Great food from a cute cozy atmosphere. Margarita was amazing
This was our first time here. Food was good, service was excellent. Overall a good experience. Thanks!
Celebrate my daughter’s 21st bday. Our waiter was freaking amazing! Wish I could remember his name but he was truly amazing. Music needs to be changed for a Tex mex place there was no Tex mex music
Just visiting Austin but this was an amazing find. Get the queso. It’s amazing. The food was great! The service was even better. Thanks Nick, you are totally awesome. We’ll be back next time we’re in Austin
We loved it! ❤️
Overall food and drinks were good and reasonably priced. Server was nice but was taking care of more tables than capable which lead to long gaps between drink order, food order, check backs, and to receive bill. Many other employees seen walking about but did not appear to help each other out or use teamwork.
Absolutely great service, delicious food and drinks! Super cool outside area
We made a reservation for indoors, but they graciously allowed us to do an impromptu switch to the patio. Service was excellent, everything we ordered was exactly right, and seriously, the patio was so relaxing and fun...can't wait to go back.
Great choice for us, visiting Austin from out of state, having wonderful food, ambiance and service. Our waiter was terrific (young man from Philadelphia). We could walk to Esther's Follies after dinner, a short two block walk, and take in some of Sixth Street, too. Location and great dining; a combination worth returning to.
We had Teddy as our waiter and he was very attentive and took great care of us. Great food and great margaritas!
Tres leche cake was worth the trip!!,,,,,,,,,,,''👍👍😀😀😀👍😀😀👍😀👍🤐👍🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮
Great food and atmosphere. Jessica waited on me and she was fabulous.
I happened upon Pelon’s, next door to my hotel, on the first day of a business trip. I waited 30 min for a seat at the bar and it was worth every minute. I brought 4 colleagues back a few days later and they loved it too. Recommend reservations.
Oof. Really bad food and even worse house margs. Shocked they are still in business.
Great food with amazing customer service
Very nice Tex-Mex with very nice service. Need to reserve. They turned away about 20 people while we were there. They ran out of tres leches cake so we had sopapillas with tres leches sauce; that was the waiter’s creatve solution. Portions are generous
The manager is a liar and a thief. He tried to charge us for 8 shots when we only ordered 6. He thought that we wouldn’t notice, but we did and he finally admitted what he did. This place is unethical and the management should be fired for their behavior. Will never come back here.
Fabulous ambiance and world class tacos!
First I want to say, that our server (sorry I forget his name) was FANTASTIC! He was polite, engaging, gave good suggestions, responsive and very nice. The food was good, not amazing but good-very good. The first two rounds of margaritas were very good - the third round (yes, a third round, ha!) was really bad. Our server immediately replaced them with good ones and without hassle or hesitation. I would like to say that I think all of my scores would have been higher if not for the room we were seated in. The decor was plain, and not at all as described in the Yelp app and (to me) there was an overwhelming scent that I could not get past. My clients thought it might have been some sort of incense - but to me it was much worse than that. I think I'm neutral on the recommendation question - I probably would, depending on who was going. I don't think I would bring client's there again.
We were looking for a place for a late lunch before the Texas/USC game & saw the great reviews others had written on open table. It was walking distance from our hotel so I booked it! So glad we tried it! The food was excellent & service was over the top!! So friendly!
We were in town for a girls trip, and this was our SECOND time going to Pelons in 2 days! The food is absolutely amazing, very fresh tasting, flavorful, authentic Tex-Mex. The only reason for a lower overall score is the service was exceedingly poor. We had actually dined here on Friday night, and the service was very efficient - which is one of the reasons we came back. On Sunday night though, our waitress was definitely not on her game. She didn't bring us silverware or napkins for our appetizer (queso dip), which was very messy. Two out of three of our cocktails were made completely incorrectly. She left water at our table but never came back to refill the jug, or even check if we wanted another cocktail. Finally, our order of tacos and quesadillas took an exceedingly long amount of time to make (at least 30 minutes!) and she did not come to our table once to check on us and ask if we needed anything while we waited, or to tell us the kitchen was backed up, or offer any sort of explanation. Finally, when it came time to pay our tab, we had to hunt down another waitress to ask her to get our waitress so we could pay. Honestly, if the food wasn't so good, I wouldn't ever go back. If I'd been asked to do a review for Friday night, our first dining experience, I would have had only compliments for the place. Lastly, the bathroom smells like kitty litter, do not use it unless completely necessary.
