Pelican Nest Seafood Grill
Aruba’s favorite restaurant completely above the water offers many unique attributes; the spectacular view at any time of the day and especially during sunsets, the wide array of fresh seafood, a relaxing atmosphere, exclusive seating for dinner and the option while dining to feed the fish. Our Peruvian chef makes a famous and delicious fish ceviche.
The Caribbean, easy going yet professional atmosphere, the choice of fresh items on the menu, a courteous and friendly staff, the ever lasting sense of well-being and complete relaxation and enjoyment, what more could one require?
Our party was visiting Aruba on vacation; my family’s 8th time to the island, and our friends’ 1st time. The ambiance was great; table located near the edge of the open-air deck overlooking the beautiful water and sunset. Food orders were good, not great. I had the Grouper Savaneta, my wife had the grilled Grouper, as did my daughter. Again, good, not great. Wife felt as though her dinner was bland. I thought mine was fine. Although I have had a lot better on the island.
So, while it wasn’t a disaster, it could’ve been better. Miguel, our server, was very good. He was very attentive and we all thought that he did a great job with our table. Cocktails were good, I had a margarita which was good. Competition is fierce with many great restaurants, so just a little work is needed to get to the next level.
The atmosphere was very nice. The food was awful. Definitely not worth spending the money. Go elsewhere-
Our group of 5 had a table near the water as requested in our reservation which we were pleased. Two of us ordered a glass of Resiling from the menu and they were out so they suggested we buy a bottle of the other Resiling which they did have in stock. We only wanted 1 glass each so that did not appeal to us. Since they were out of what we wanted we suggested they sell us 2 glasses from the Resiling they did have in stock knowing that with the markup that would have probably paid for their cost of the wine and made 2 customers happy. They would not agree to that so we passed on the wine. Between the five of us we had drinks, appetizers and entrees. Our server was very nice and did her best to take care of us. The appetizers of Coconut Shrimp and Shrimp Cocktail were very good, however the crab cake was rather flat not much taste.. The Wahoo was over cooked as was the Mahi-Mahi. I feel it is overpriced for what you get, however a lovely view.
Beautiful spot to have a sunset dinner, however you have to walk down pier through a rowdy bar scene as well as people jumping off pier swimming, also after sunset 3 catamarans full of people arrived back from a sunset cruise. Changing your quiet dinner into a loud distraction of people on both sides of pier. Not enough bathroom facilities on pier to accommodate the amount of people out there. Overall a bit disappointing
Our second time here, and I have to say we were disappointed to hear that they don’t have clams or mussels anymore. Our kids are pretty finicky when it comes to trying new things but the clams and mussels were something that they have been looking forward to since our last visit. Otherwise, the food was very good! Great ambiance and always fun to see the hungry fish gobbling up the bread! Beautiful table, as well, and definitely worth keeping on the list.
We always go there on our 1st nite in Aruba. Service is excellent and attentive. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. Love being out on the water. I had the Wahoo and it was excellent. We were there for 4th of July and had the added bonus of a fantastic fire works display. We stay at the Holiday Inn so we go there at least 2 more times for lunch. Fish Tacos and burgers are great.
For a sunset dinner the view could not have better. The food is “bar type food”. Also, Google maps will not get you to the restaurant. Using google maps will takes you in the completely opposite direction.
Great sunset view. Drinks and food were served in good timing. Waiter was very nice and quick with orders. The only thing is that prices are high but that is a common trait in restaurants in Aruba. Wooo Overall highly recommended.
Beautiful view! The food was delicious. My daughter has multiple food allergies and they handled it Well. Sally the manager came to the table to discuss the allergies and told her what would be safe to eat. She went out of her way to make my daughter feel comforable
Though the atmosphere was great and this restaurant came recommended, we unfortunately had a negative experience. The service was slow (took close to an hour to get our food), bread was hard, pineapples in the salad had a canned metallic flavor (expected fresh), mahi mahi was ok but on the over cooked side and I could not finish the crab cake as it was too “fishy”. We left more on our plates and were underwhelmed and disappointed in comparison to other locations around the island.
Setting is great and service is very responsive. Sadly the food is mediocre at best. All of the fish was hammered - badly overlooked and hard to chew. Fine for a bite at sunset but there are many better fish places on the beach.
The Pelican is a perfect location on the pier we went in the evening and were able to watch the sunset. service was excellent my girl and I split a seafood combo it was more than enough food, we couldn't eat it all. the food was good. I would recommend it ...super laid-back ithgreat ambiance
We’ve been coming here for many years, and this year we were a little disappointed. It was a Tuesday night and they weren’t crowded, but it took a very long time for our fish dinners to come out, one red snapper and three grouper dinners. they were lukewarm in temperate would be about right. I like my food hot! The ambience was great, the only negative was the temperature of the food, and there should have been no reason for our food not to been piping hot. Veggies were cool to the touch. Our waitress Edmeley was fabulous! Her recommendations were spot on.
Fix the problems in the kitchen, and will be back.
Always liked Pelicans Nest for dinner for their grouper. This time it was bland and disappointing. Service was good and the view is always amazing.
We sat outside and enjoyed the Oceanview. Shared a Caeser salad that was very good. Jim had wahoo and I ordered red snapper. They were both great. The cilantro and creamy garlic sauce was very good. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food and service and the view can't be beat. Definitely recommend starting with the ceviche and treat yourself to a frozen mojito.
The view is spectacular. The Caribbean Shrimp was perfectly cooked. Crab cakes were ok, the lobster fritters were rubbery and tasteless. Do not order red wine, it is served in a wet glass and does not taste good, manager happily switched my wine to beer without trouble. Overall we had a nice experience.
Had calamari excellent. Burgers were nice and juicy. Would definately return
Our server was Fabulous Fabio and he gave us some nice suggestions, Calamari was excellent as our starter.
My husband had the House Special Almond Grouper...excellent, large portion.
I had the Grilled Mahi Mahi, with Chimichurri Sauce.. delish!
Nice touch, the manager Sali ,came by to see how we enjoyed our experience , she was wonderful. Oh, and thanks for the best sunset viewing table ever!!!
Pelican Nest Seafood Grill is fantastic! My only request is please, please serve fresh vegetables instead of frozen - all your amazing seafood and side dishes are so great, it is such a shame to get frozen veggies. This one little change is all that is needed to make your entire menu fantastic!!
Loved the beach view at our table and the food but they seemed under staffed.... We had to keep looking for our waiter..... The restrooms are in dire need of updating...Only one for each men and women and the women’s door didn’t shut all the way and was not very clean.....
Had the impression that the server tried to keep the fact from us that the 15% service charge was added in order to collect another big tip. Have been coming here for years so that point was fairly obvious to me but many others didn’t and unknowingly tipped 30 to 35 percent.
Walked by it in the beach. We decided to have a sunset dinner there. ( Reserve on OT before.). The grouper was great. Service was very good. View of sunset absolutely Gorgeous😃.
Can’t beat the view! Service was good. Menu and food was just average compared to other amazing meals we had throughout the week.
Service was fine. Had mussels in white wine - very bland.. filet mignon was fine. The vegetables that come with it were frozen - which is not my complaint.. they were way too oversteamed(?) microwaved(?) when coooked with no taste and barely warm, looked as though they had been sitting on the plate for a while. My husband got Wahoo, that was very chewy with no taste. Really disappointing. I won’t go back or refer anyone to go there.
This place is a gem. Great service and food. Enjoyed every bit of it. Beautiful to eat in the water. Loved it!
We got the best table in the place (made our reservation in advance) to see the sunset. We've been there before and knew the food is ok, so we weren't expecting much. The location is very convenient if you're staying at the Holiday, Hyatt, Barceló or Hilton.
We love Pelicans Nest. Our favorite restaurant in all of Palm Beach Aruba. Atmosphere is amazing. We love the early bird menu, everything delicious and at fantastic prices. Staff so nice !
Beautiful view of the Aruba sunset
Okay food but beautiful spot.
6 people had dinner, no one liked their dinner. The grouper was the thinnest piece of Grouper I have ever had. I had to cut it with a knife. The vegetables were cold and the polenta was over fried. Three of us all complained about the grouper (to each other) The Red Snapper and the other grouper fingers were basically left on the plate. To add insult to injury, the server over charged us with 2 soups, 2 drinks, and an appetizer. Luckily we caught it and the server adjusted the bill. I won't be heading back to the Pelican's Nest any time soon. To make matters worse it took at least 20 minutes to figure out how to evenly divide the final bill between 3 credit cards.
Service very good, food very acceptable and convenience exceptional. Good value for the money.
Lovely waterfront dining.
Joel our server did an excellent job making our Pelican Nest Experience a good one. This team always provides a consistently good experience. As a frequent visitor my only suggestion is to have a little more menue creativity and variety.
Service was poor. Food was ok. The view is beautiful and that it is about it.
Place was a lot better last year.
Great view, great food! The service was good! I would highly recommend if you are near.
The bar and restaurant is on a pier on the ocean. beautiful setting. there is a bar area and a dining area. So this place is good for adults or families. The atmosphere is lively and upbeat. Casual and relaxing. Good place to watch sunset or people watching
Really bad service. They had no clean silverware when our appetizer arrived and we were forced to eat it with our hands and wipe them clean on a tablecloth. Food mixed. I found my fish bland and the veg overcooked. My son enjoyed his filet.
Great as usual
Food was good. Not outstanding. Service was good, not spectacular. My major issue is that at the end of the meal the server pointed out the service charge to us, which was 15%. He let us know that he personally only received 8% of that so if we would like to leave an additional gratuity it would be appreciated. That was clearly stated in the back of the menu. I felt that it was pushy and rude of the server to almost point blank ask for an additional tip.
The location over the water is wonderful! The service is great. The food is good just not outstanding but it is definitely worth the trip.
