Good all around.
Excellent food and service. View is outstanding. Wonderful ambiance. Wine list is bit pricey.
It’s a beautiful restaurant. Sit outside and enjoy the views of the ocean.
Amazing experience! The Lobster mac brought me closer to Jesus. Service was incredible!
Spectacular sunset views on the veranda
great food. great service. best bang for your buck.
The atmosphere at The Pelican Grill is upscale/casual. We were seated at a quiet window seat, with a view.
Our server, Michael, was wonderful. My husband and I both ordered one of the chef’s specials: Chilean Sea Bass over black rice with a divine coconut/orange sauce. OMG...totally fresh and exciting!
Finished the lunch meal with a latte and a complimentary happy birthday dessert!
Beautiful view, 2nd to none! Sat outside on patio with ceiling heat lamps and glass barrier, very cozy. Butternut squash soup was incredible, crab cake on bed of avocado also delicious. Lobster Mac was tasty too! Steak and Halibut were just OK, but all in all the pelican grill is a solid choice, and I would happily return.
We had a lovely brunch on the patio and everything from the service to the location was fantastic.
My husband had the eggs Benedict and loved it, which is a big deal since he’s particular about the details. Eggs were cooked perfectly over ham and English muffin, all topped with their decadent hollandaise sauce. Rest of the party had smoked salmon, steak and eggs ( steak was cooked to a ‘T’ )and I had the fish and chips. Tartare sauce was a bit runny, but otherwise we all enjoyed our meals.
Michael our server was on the button without being intrusive and made sure everything was to put satisfaction.
Highly recommend the blood orange mimosas too.
Anniversary and the team serving us was great. Filet Mignon tops. All food very nicely and though fully prepared. Kitchen great. Jesse great. Sweet end with a cute complimentary anniversary dessert.
Great view of the sunset from the terrace about 7:00pm.
Usually enjoy this restaurant but my latest visit was a mess. From poor reservation planning to rude service and broken dishes - I’m not sure I’ll return for a while.
Excellent service and tasty food. View was beautiful and very relaxing. Love this place.
We were seated on the patio and had a nice partial view of the ocean. The service is great and the staff is very accommodating. The quality of the food is mediocre and definitely not worth the high prices. I feel as if you are paying more for the view and service than the quality of the food.
Pleasure meeting Chef Erik Sandven at the Pelican Grill. Such a delight returning here and consuming "plenus oculi" views, and savoring world class cuisine (Loved the Le Creuset). Hello to Marc Johnson (California Culinary Academy of San Francisco).
Really great experience at the Pelican Grill. My boyfriend and I bought a travelzoo voucher for $39 and our waiter was so so so amazing he told us we can get anything up to an $80 value and he will just take it off our bill when we order whatever else we want. So to start we got the butternut squash soup and my boyfriend got the chicken tortilla soup. BEST butternut squash soup I’ve ever had. It was so creamy and perfect. For our entrees I got the Chilean Seabass with Black forbidden rice. OMG OMG OMG it was the best meal I’ve had in a long time. My boyfriend got the half chicken and it was so flavorful. When we were done and our waiter brought our meal, he applied his magic to the bill and we only paid $20!! Anthony was the sweetest guy he really cared about out happiness and comfort as guests at the restaurant more than anything else and I loved that. After he generated our bill, we decided we wanted coffee so instead of generating a new bill, he just made our cappuccino’s on the house. Great view, great food, and great coffee. What more could I ever want in Newport!!
Food was delicious, fresh and beautiful! Service is good, view is fantastic! It deserves at least one Michelin Star.
Wonderful Easter brunch. Service was spot on, drinks were great & the mains were flavorful & right sized.
We stayed Pelican Hills resort for wedding anniversary and then visited Pelican Grill for dinner. The atmosphere was very nice although it was a little dark. We enjoyed the excellent dishes.
Sitting on the patio, you have beautiful view of the ocean. There are patio heaters and blankets are offered if chilly.
EXCEPTIONAL food and service were terrific. Chilean sea bass soooooo gooood. The BEST view in So Cal.
Food was delicious. Service was amazing and very friendly. Accommodating for children as well.
Well it was great until I found out that they never put my Lobster in my to go box. They keep it they only put the steak. Not cool when you payed $79.00 for the meal.
Drove to restaurant just fine option to self park was nice. Got seated in right away after checking in. Ambiance was pleasant. It was great to see the kitchen open to the restaurant. It was good. Had the corned beef since it was St Patrick’s Day. The meat was very tender and flavorful. Enjoyed the brussel sprouts.
What a beautiful restaurant! We were greeted by name at the table by our waiter. The table that had an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean. An amazing sunset was the back drop as we dined on a crabcake appetizer and glass of wine. Followed by an awesome dinner, I had the Chilean sea bass and my husband had the salmon. Both delicious ! Followed by a decadent lava cake and coffee with baileys! Yum
Worth the drive and the extra bucks for a romantic dinner with the hubs!
Waited more than 20 minutes for a table with a reservation. Food however, was outstanding. Waitstaff hustled, but bar service was slow.
My waiter was Excellent! The rolls are Amazing & Delicious!
It was very nice, food excellent, service great. The noise level was loud. We moved to The patio where it was much better but cool. We don’t feel comfortable in a loud place. Don’t know if we would return on a week end
Food was excellent.
Service was impeccable
Been there three / four times.
Looking forward to the next visit.
Great dinner, great location!!! Excellent ambiance out on the heated patio!
It was everything I could ever hope for in a restaurant
Very, very enjoyable on all counts. The food flavors were varied and delicious. Service was outstanding
Loved dining here! Excellent service. Anthony was wonderful and so gracious. The food was excellent. The view was a real plus! It was our first time dining there. We sat in the outdoor patio and it was divine.
All of the employees were very nice and very attentive!! Including the valet who welcomed us in an awesome way.
Thanks for making my birthday special!
Thanks again Meko Mcthomas
Service was great. Soup and salads were very good, bread was amazing, sides were very good. The steaks were so-so, a little on the dry side, not very flavorful.
It was great. The serve and food was all phenomenal 👌🏽 Not one bad experience. We were very satisfied with everything. Will definitely be going back
Amazing food and the service is as good as expected. Can't beat the view from Pelican. You won't go wrong with the Sea Bass or crab cakes.
We visited Pelican Grill for dinner on a Thursday to celebrate my Hubby’s Birthday. We made our reservation early at 530 and asked to sit on the patio so we could watch the sunset. The view was breathtaking, the service was impeccable & the food was delicious.
Ted was the best! Thank you for making our evening one to remember!
This restaurant is good for a lunch during day, so can enjoy the ocean view . what is great about this place is how exclusive it is, and quiet. I like that a lot.
The lunch menu is limited, but good. I would not say the food is OH MY GOODNESS, great, but its good. I got the chilean sea bass and it was really good. My dad got the salmon, and it was okay. not amazing.
Service is great, and they acknowledged my dad's bday a few times, so that was a very nice touch.
