Almost impossible to find - on the ground level of the International Mall below all the other restaurants, appended to the Rennaissance Hotel. Open Table and Google Maps do not accurately provide the location. Look for the hotel, not the restaurant. Once you find it: a very nice space, caring servers, blissfully quiet, and food better than anything in the other Mall restaurants. We had salads and appetizers. Calimari was superbly done - just cooked, very tender, and artfully presented. Their dolmades were outstanding; vividly-spiced, tender, delicious, and also nicely presented. Their caesar is imaginatively presented as a bundle of dressed romaine leaves tied up in a fried parmesan "ribbon", again very tasty, the dressing a tangy fresh-made true caesar tasting properly of anchovies, cracked pepper, and fresh lemon. We also had a small plate of a fesh pea risotto that was lovely with just enough creamy cheese to smooth everything out without overwhelming the sweet fresh peas. My biggest fripe? The wine list is rudimentary and cries out for an upgrade. Banfi Chianti Classico is just about the most exotic and regionally-appropriate wine on the list. How about more wines from the region (Lebanese, more Italian, Greek) instead of the largely American mainstream Cabs and Merlots listed?
Great! Menu was varied, the venue is in International Plaza offering many other reasons to meet here and the service was quite good and the food even better. The noise level was likely the best in Tampa's Westshore sub market for deal-making.
My wife and I both had a pork chop dish and they were well prepared. Considering Pelagia Trattoria is s hotel restaurant we were impressed with all aspects.
We were visiting Tampa from NY. My Italian husband saw bracciole on the menu - and that clinched our making a reservation. It was just as delicious as he hoped it would be - and we seldom see it on menus even in NY. Our server was charming and friendly - we will be back!
Very overpriced. Ridiculously small portions. Uncomfortable tables
Service was good but slow. 4 of the meals were good. The fifth was a salad with grilled chicken.
Lettuce with very little chicken. Uninspiring!
The restaurant is spacious, but the clientele non-existent. We were one of two tables with patrons. As we were leaving, one other party came in- but they were there alone. The waitress was wonderful, of course, she had nothing else to do. My husband ordered the lasagna, he said it was good. I ordered the Margarita Pizza, which was underdone. Again, there was no rush, they have a gorgeous pizza oven, no other patrons to serve, and managed to give me an underdone bland pizza. The plaza above was hopping, many restaurants and MANY patrons, so it wasn't that it was a slow night. Not sure what advice I can offer except to make sure when serving so few, you do it right?
We enjoyed our dinner to Pelagia Trattoria situated inside the Marriott Renassiance International Plaza Hotel in Tampa.
Felt it was overpriced and small portions.
Super nice like always
Took my wife here for Valentines Day. They had a limited menu special with choice of appetizer or salad, choice of entree and choice of desert for $55 per person. The food was excellent. I got a filet mignon that was cooked perfectly as ordered - medium rare. Not sure how the regular menu is but we enjoyed the valentines special.
I appreciate the free valet, we were quickly seated, the waiter was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The food was served at a good pace and was beautifully presented. We went on Valentine's Day with a generous menu of options that were preselected and built into the $55 per person price of appetizer, entree and dessert.
One menu only for NYE vs a choice
We were so happy to find this gem for the holiday! The service was amazing and the meal was delightful. We expected a limited menu for Christmas, but we were pleasantly surprised at the number of fabulous choices. Everyone tried something different, and it was all great!
Highlights for appetizers was the Smokey Brie, baked in a puff pastry. It was warm, buttery, flavorful velvet, to DIE for!
For the main meal, the scallops were seared to perfection, revealing the delectable sweetness only found in high quality, fresh seafood. Equally stunning was the filet minion, cooked to order by a chef with obvious experience! It was accompanied with caramelized onions and smooth mashed potatoes...real comfort food that even “Mom” would envy!
Finally, desert was equally enjoyed. The creme brûlée had a satisfying crispy crunch of sugar on top of the surprising ginger-bread flavored cream. the peppermint cheesecake was smooth and full of holiday cheer (though it was NOT traditional cheesecake).
All in all, it was a terrific experience that we would certainly consider repeating in years to come. Though we did find the lack of holiday music a bit sad, still, we were able to enjoy lively, uninterrupted conversation. The staff was attentive, warm and polite, and there was no rush towards the end. We were able to savor the moment and appreciate everything and everyone!
I visted Pelagio Trattoria for Lunch. When we arrived we were greeted and got to choose where we wanted to sit. Restaurant decor is Italian modern. Great view of outside garden. Pizza margarita was great! Pasta dish, so-so. When we announced it was my
birthday, the waiter gave me a fresh berry desert. We got very special attention and left
feeling like we made a terrific choice. Starbucks coffee in the lobby, beautiful Christmas
decorations everywhere. Go sit in the outside garden... you will want to move in. Located
in the Rennissance Marriott in Tampa. Jim Walter Boulevard. Great fun.
great time and great food. It was just a bit noisy because of a Tampa Bay Bucs game and the opposing team was there in force but it was all in good fun and didn't distract from the professional staff and fantastic food.
Our meal was amazing. Try the octopus salad. Cindy the bartender and waitress is fantastic
For the price of the meal, it was way too noisy; however, excellent food and great service.
Surprisingly good for a hotel restaurant. Very nice Italian menu with a couple of middle eastern apps thrown in because why? That having been said, the room is attractive, the service excellent and the food much better than you'd expect. Apps sampled were bruschetta, eggplant rolatini and octopus, all delicious. A kale and butternut squash salad was excellent and entrees of grouper and veal saltimbocca were solid. Desserts were very good and the wine list, while short on length and depth was serviceable. Overall, a very nice dining experience and a good value.
The restaurant has an upscale beautiful look. Leo, our server, was exceptional and helpful with choices. The braised lamb shank with saffron risotto was delicious. The frutti di mare risotto had good flavor, but was spicy, which wasn't noted in the description, and had so much cheese that it was very thick, not the usual creaminess expected. I selected a bottle of wine, but they were out of it and promptly offered an alternative at the same price and quite good. We will definitely come back!
Another wonderful meal. The chef continues to innovate and the menu changes often.
The Burrata Caprese was wonderful, as was the Bolognese, although the addition of grape tomato halves made it a bit too sweet. The update Caesar salad was a wonderful presentation, but I miss the Grilled, deconstructed Caesar. The special of the day, salmon and sea scallops over herb Alfredo was excellent. The scallops in particular were seared perfectly.
Convenient location with a great menu with reasonable prices.
Service was good at first but a big table arrived just after we received our food. My daughter had a problem with her order and no one came around to check on us until everyone else at the table was finished. Even then, it wasn't our server but just someone clearing plates. No one came to check if our meals were ok or replenish our drinks. If you go for brunch, I don't suggest the Krispy Kreme donut French toast. It is very mushy in the centre. The consistency tastes like it is under cooked. When we mentioned that to the waitress she responded saying that a lot of people complained about the texture. That would have been nice to know when we ordered. I paid $18 for a meal she took one bite of.
Our waiter accurately described the ingredients of each dish, how it was cooked, in a friendly and non aggressive way. We had a delightful time. As long as you realize that this is an expensive dinner, you will have a wonderful time.
Our Easter dinner was very good. My husband enjoyed his brunch selection, but would have preferred the former holiday buffet. Our server was professional and made the event special. Thank you.
Terrible. The food was dry. The server was unfriendly and inattentive. And the cost was so high. I went to work and told all of my coworkers to not go there ever.
Had breakfast here, it was lovely. Service was very good. Helpful and cheery staff. Buffet breakfast where you can order hot food. Very good.
Absolutely lovely restaurant and the slowest service...we had a two course dinner, two people and it took 1!hour and forty minutes.
brunch was good. the service could use some improvement.
Very good. Limited wine list but a few good wines. Good location for business meetings/dinners.
A real letdown as it was supposed to be a special night out with my wife for Valentine's Day dinner.
Started off badly and went further downhill from there. We arrived for our 7:45 reservation to find no one staffing the welcome area. After 10 minutes of waiting and other couples lining up behind us, a Hostess emerges and states even though we have a reservation, it would be a 20 minute wait to be seated. I wasn't very happy with the lack of attention already and to hear this wasn't exactly improving my mood. I asked for a Manager and upon her greeting, she stated the wait would be more along the lines of 10 minutes. The other couples were turned away also with the 20 minute wait time greeting. (What's the point of accepting reservations then?)
8:15 we're finally seated. Drinks and appetizers were ordered and came out slow, but acceptable amount of time. However, the main course plates didn't hit our table for another hour! After soups/appetizers were finished, we waited 45 minutes for the next plates. The place had empty tables, which left my wife and I puzzled as to why the slow/inattentive service. The food was not worth the egregious wait either. Average at best.
Overall, worst Valentine's Day dinner we've had in our 18 years together.
Our party of 5 arrived on time for our reservation. Hostess was scrambling around. We were told that they could not seat us for at least 20 minutes despite having empty tables. It appeared that they were under-staffed. This was Valentines dinner...how could they be under-staffed?! Had they not planned appropriately? Evidently not. We waited awhile, then left to get a table at a nearby restaurant.
Good appitizers, terrible service and rude staff. We went for valentines day. The service was sooo slow, hostess rude and room was so noisy. We wanted a well made meal. We truly enjoyed the Brussel sprout appitizer and the beet salad. The restaurant is Italian cuisine, so we thought the veal would be really good. Wrong it was covered in a thick brown sauce with too strong a beef flavor, tough meat, mushy breading, it was terrible.
WAY too slow of service for Valentines Day. We complained of the slow service time and were told "yea we weren't expecting this." And yet, not being able to handle the customers they already had, they kept seating people. We waited 15 mins after we had to ask for bread. We also waited about 25 mins before we had to call someone over after we finished our food for the check.
On a side note, this used to be a more dressy spot and more formal for dinner but that has gone by the wayside and although the food is still amazing, the ambiance is not what it once was for a romantic, dressy evening.
In short, this wasn't the romantic Valentine's Day night out I had planned. More of an aggravation and upsetting.
They seemed entirely unprepared for Valentine's Day and didn't even appear to be unusually crowded. We waited 20 mins to place a drink order. The waiter ran around in a panic all night as he threw our meals on the table and ran off not to return for at least 30 minutes.
Valentines Day and Anniversary.
Awful experience.
Had a lovely meal catching up with a long time friend. Our waiter, Leo, made our visit very special. He was warm, kind and wonderfully efficient.
Reservation at 10am for brunch. Order taken at 10:15. Meal arrives one-by-one 60 minutes later.
Fabulous as always! We love this place and drive from Palm Harbor. We are so perplexed that it is never that crowded! A real find for a special occasion place.
I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH A POOR FINE DINING EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE
Well now that I've got that out of my way, let me tell you why.
I booked a reservation for Christmas dinner (2016) at 7:00 pm through open table for myself an my young child a week in advance. I decided on Pelagia Trattoria because I was spending the holiday in Tampa and the restaurant had wonderful reviews and what sounded like a great Christmas Dinner Menu.
The hostess was beyond rude and had extensive difficulties locating my reservation; even though the dining room was half empty and reservation was clearly not needed.
The server was horrendous. He was pleasant enough but was a TERRIBLE server. We were there for almost a half hour before we even put in our order.
My main dish was clearly prepared ahead of time and reheated - it was so tough I could barely cut it with a knife.
I got my dessert to go (Creme Brulee) and when I went to eat it, I realized it had never been torched! How can the dish be creme brulee without the brulee?
I was extremely disappointed by both the service I received and the food that I had. I will never be going back here and I would advise others to do the same. Find a better quality restaurant for the money; I'm sure they're out there.
