CHRISTMAS EVE AT THE PEERLESS IS AN ASHLAND TRADITION!

Food was wonderful, but the service was terrible. We started with one waitress whom we never saw again. We ordered drinks and dinner which were served timely and the food was excellent. Service dropped to zero after that. We would've ordered another round of drinks but no one came to check on us. Finally our water glasses were refilled but no one removed our plates for another 20 minutes. It was my husband's birthday so we wanted dessert and finally asked the young man filling our water if we could get a waitress. New waitress came with dessert menus and disappeared. Another 20 minutes went by, so we gave up on the dessert idea and asked a third waitress walking by for our tab instead. Approx. 15 minutes later we received it. I left a 10% tip which was far too low, but the lack of service did not warrant anything higher. Overall it was a disappointing evening and we aren't likely to return anytime soon.
Amazing food. Will stop in Ashland again just for the food & wine. Extensive wine list.
Food was very good but service was spotty. And a big change is that Peerless now only allows 1 bottle of 750ml wine maximum for corkage at $30....an unpleasant surprise given that our group of 6 brought 3 bottles of wine and last year we brought several bottles and all was fine... So we only opened 1 bottle and had to cart 2 bottles back.
Peerless did not disappoint. It came highly recommended from a friend and we were impressed. The food was so beautiful I did a rare thing and took a photo of my entree. Service was excellent and the food was special.
Thank you...we are honored that your meal was photo-worthy!
The Peerless is an exceptional restaurant with lovely menu offerings and beautiful decor. The outdoor area is lovely as well. It's a place for special celebrations!
thank you for the lovely review!
We had a great dining experience! Great food! Great service!
This is our 2nd trip to Peerless. we ended up ordering several small plates rather than an entree and was completely satisfied.
We look forward to your 3rd trip! THANK YOU!
We liked everything about Peerless—the food, the setting, the service—excellent.
Food and service were excellent. The halibut was a little on the dry side. Salad was delicious.
Thank you for the 5-Stars, We're sorry the Halibut was not completely to your liking.
We had a wonderful
Dinner for our anniversary! Crab cake and steak were off the charts. Great cocktail options and wine list.
Thank you for joining us!
The food, cocktails and service were outstanding. The bill was close to $200 for 3 of us, but it was a special occasion. We had special cocktails, 1 glass of wine, shared a appetizer, a salad, bread, 3 entrees and 2 desserts. The restaurant provided a delicious gourmet dinner for my vegan daughter. Everything was special and very delicious
THANK YOU FOR THE 5-STARS!
The pricing is just not consummate with the food amount and by extension the quality/value of the entire experience. A dinner for 2 was in excess of $160 without tip. This is Southern Oregon, not SF or even Portland. It's ridiculous, as someone who knows the wholesale food structure/costs here and seeing this kind mark-up, the value for this experience is just not reflective of the quality of experience. My take away is most folk will walk away feeling less for the experience and thus, in my experience, leaves me not wanting to return.
Superb food and service. The T lamb was outstanding! Thank you!!
What a great find! This was our first visit to Peerless. We were greeted warmly, seated at a beautiful spot in the garden and whisked away on a journey of good food and good company. The waiter was terrific, making recommendations that were spot on. The cold tomato soup from local tomatoes was superb. And the salmon was cooked to perfection. Desert -- a homemade ice cream sandwich with mango ice cream -- was fabulous. We'll definitely be back. And we might even stay at the Peerless Hotel where the restaurant is located.
Thank you and we'd love to welcome you into our Hotel too!
Attentive, friendly staff in a lovely, warm room. The crab cakes and French onion soup were just right as appetizers at our table, and the King salmon was perfectly done.
Thank you for the 5-stars!
Lovely food in a lovely setting. We were seated at a table overlooking the garden courtyard. All of the food was fresh and delicious and the service was attentive without being cloying. Service was also timely and efficient without ever feeling the slightest bit rushed (we were going to the Shakespeare play and need to be done by 7:30). Thoroughly enjoyed all of the food as well as the total dining experience. Highly recommended.
Thank you for the wonderful review!
Returning for a special dinner, we were so pleased that even in the height of the tourist season, we had a most pleasant meal. We are locals and have eaten here many times over the past 8 years. A very special restaurant in the Rogue Valley! Colin was a great server. Attentive, but not overbearing, explaining the drinks and dishes where we had questions
Jim, thank you for the wonderful review!
Everything we tasted was wonderful. service was attentive and informational. Highly recommend.
Our first visit...not knowing what to expect...excellent food in terms of taste, presentation, and freshness. We'll come back for special occasions...although a tad noisy on a Friday night. Apparently, Peerless was the place to be in Ashland that evening!
Usual great meal st Peerless, with exceptional service. My wife had the lobster stuffed potato skins, while I sampled the Rose flight. Awesome!
Thank you for the lovely review!
Food is amazing. Ate their 3 nights in a row. Would do it again. It's that good.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
We had dinner outside on their patio. Lovely plantings and low noise level.
Dinner was excellent with substantial portions. We really enjoyed the cold golden beet soup and skirt steak with pommes frites. Duck confit and onion soup were also winners,
They kindly allowed our small dog to be with us and even brought him a porcelain water bowl. He was very impressed 🐾❤️
We are so happy that ALL of you enjoyed your time with us!
Been there many times over the years. Always had an outstanding experience. Food is very creative, fresh, beautifully presented and tasty. Service is properly attentive. The wine list, mostly local, is very well curated. The bar chef is excellent. Had a cocktail with roasted peach puree, blanco tequila, lime juice and Champagne. Wonderful on a hot day. Eating outside in the garden is a delight. They also have a wonderful small hotel on the property. A great place to stay. Michael has been cooking first class breakfasts there for years. It is one of our favorite places to dine anywhere.
Thank you for the lovely restaurant review and for the Hotel comments too!
Can't say enough good things about the Peerless Restaurant. The host is awesome. When our reserved table was unavailable due to lingering guests he quickly set up an alternative location for us that was absolutely lovely. The food was exquisite. I had the flat iron steak and it was prepared perfectly, my husband had the lamb and it was to die for. We were so impressed that we've changed our plans for our 20th anniversary dinner and are going to go back to this jewell of a restaurant to celebrate.
Thank you so much...we will make sure Glenn sees your lovely review!
Excellent service, great food, very nice atmosphere, fine location, easy distance from theater.
THANK YOU FOR WONDERFUL REVIEW!
Colin, our waiter, was fabulous! We really enjoyed our dinner.
THANK YOU, WE LOVE COLIN TOO!
Great overall experience. Only ding was not preparing the lamb to the proper temperature ordered.
Thank you for joining us. we are sorry that the lamb was not cooked to your desired temperature. We hopefully were able to re-make for you exactly to your liking.
Food was wonderful, ambience and staff were great! Glen, the host is a gem and was just very welcoming and anticipated our arrival! I He didn't ask the dreaded "do you have a reservation" he greetedus and bu conversation deduced that we did and which party we were!
WE LOVE GLEN! THANK YOU FOR DINING WITH US!
Wonderful service. Great food. We will return on our next visit to Ashland.
THANK YOU FOR DINING WITH US!
Peerless is lovely and our meal was good but I feel their prices are too high for what you get. Other than that, it was fun to splurge on ourselves a bit; a wonderful pre-theatre indulgence!
THANK YOU FOR DINING WITH US!
As always, Peerless remains the best restaurant in the Valley. We’ve been coming here for 14 years, and never been disappointed. Food was excellent as was our waiter, Colin. Thanks for a wonderful birthday.
Always delicious food, excellent service, and enjoyable atmosphere.
Wonderful food plus helpful, courteous employees! A pleasant experience for sure.
The menu felt quite limited in options. A lot of items had cilantro, including what I ordered without cilantro added. This greatly limited my choices as other things could not eliminate the cilantro which I can't tolerate. There was only one way to have fish, chicken, beef duck, etc. Prices were extremely high. Cocktail order was not followed although a correction was immediately made. Staff were very helpful. Usually restaurants do something special when they ask if this is a special occasion and you tell them it is. They did nothing beyond wish my husband a Happy Birthday.
I'm glad we were able to eat outside as inside was extremely noisy. When no entree suits, I think you should be offered the opportunity to increase the size of the small plate. I was told that there would be only two small crab cakes for my entree but not offered more to make a fuller meal (ie 3)
Peerless is an upscale bistro in Ashland that is a half mile walk from OSF. The restaurant is designed with openness and good natural light. Atmosphere is informal and relaxed. Our service was just okay. While our server was knowledgeable, she forgot to serve the wine I ordered and I had to ask a second time for it. Likewise, empty water glasses were not noticed and we had to ask for more water. While service was challenging, the food was excellent. The Grilled Maitake Mushroom Steam Bun appetizer was both tasty and unique. My wife loved her grilled lamb T-bone and I enjoyed the Green Curry Roasted Vegetables.
We are happy that you enjoyed the food and we appreciate the feedback.
Nice menu, good service and atmosphere. Convenient to theatre.
Loved it there :) from the moment we walked up to the restaurant, to walking in and being seated. The inside is beautiful as well as the outside. Once outside on the patio it was so peaceful and the ambiance was amazing. The sunshades, lights. Tables and the fountain <3
Beautiful outdoor tables, great food and excellent service. Everything was perfect.
Peerless is our favorite Ashland restaurant among a host of good restaurants in Ashland. It is always consistently excellent. The outdoor garden seating on a warm summer evening is a treat.
Thank you for the 5-Stars!
We tried Peerless some years ago and did not care for it. Three years ago, hearing that they had a new chef, we decided to try it again. We have been back every year since on our annual trips to Ashland. The food is balanced and imaginative. I and a dining companion has the swordfish and agreed that it was some of the freshest and best we had ever had. The tomato and buratta salad was amazing. Highly recommend.
Thank you so much!
