Had some kind of remodeling going on at the entrance by bar area... loud.. ...
Over all great place....
The Pecan Grill sits right off the lobby bar of the Overton Hotel. On the night of our visit, we were seated at a table right next to the bar, so the noise level was quite high, and the ambiance was more of a bar atmosphere. The food itself was decent. I ordered the Prime Rib, which was the special that night. It was served with a baked potato and asparagus, but no au jus or horseradish, and was a bit dry (served medium rare). The homemade ice cream was very good, but the waiter forgot one of the deserts at our table. All-in-all, it was a decent restaurant, but nothing to write home about.
It was a slow night and we walked in from the neighborhood to discover we had chosen a hotel resturant so I was initially skeptical. Jake, our waiter, quickly dispelled that with his friendly wit and prompt service. A light round of coctails, a light meal of soup and mac and we were on our way with another example of "despite location" a good exec-chef can do great work adjoined to a hotel.
Food are okay. Friendly server and personnel. Will definitely come back next special occasion.
Lovely venue with linens and fresh flowers. Food nicely presented, generous portions.
We were not greeted to start with. One of the waiters (maybe?!) walked up and grabbed some menus then started walking off like we were to follow. I said, we had a reservation and he was like oh and walked back to check us in. Once seated, we got drinks and ordered fairly quickly but then the waiter disappeared for 25-30 minutes. He finally came back with our appetizers and then we got food quickly after but I probably won’t be back. Food was fine but nothing I crave to have again. I don’t think it was worth the price. My husband said it tasted like cafeteria food. Live music was loud and not expected. I was glad when they took a break but annoyed when they started again. Had to wait again for the check. Overall, an okay but not great experience.
After a long drive and a short walk we enjoyed a lovely dinner.
The steak salad was great and the service was excellent.
We will eat there again and recommend to everyone.
The food was terrible and we were served the wrong entrees but did not complain because we didnt expect any of the other entrees to be of any higher quality. This was a special occasion (wedding night) and we were sad to have this poor experience. This place was highly recommended and it did not meet expectations.
Food was good. Vegetable portions skimpy
The pecan grill is an awesome place to go with family or a date. We went on our wedding night and they treated us like royalty. I could not have picked a better place. Executive chef made us a special dessert for our special day too!
Four steaks and one duck entree. Only one was properly cooked. When the server asked how the steaks were, I showed her my supposedly medium rare steak had no pink at all. She offered to have the chef look at it to see if he thought it was overdone! They didn't charge us for two of the four entrees, so I guess that was their way of meeting us in the middle, although not quite as I sent my back uneaten.
I don't see myself going back again, which is a shame. We've been eating at the Pecan Grill even when we don't stay at the Overton for six years. This was the culmination of a visible decline over the past two.
Our service was horrible. Once we ordered, our waitress was pretty much non-existent. For the most of our time there, we were the only ones dining! Our food was also sub-par. Nothing that knocked our socks off! We have had great experiences here before but it will not be our first choice for our next celebration.
We went during a slow time for the restaurant. Our sever was very attentive and the food was excellent. The selection was limited by shortages on some of the dishes. Overall it was a good experience and we will return.
We were the only people in the restaurant when we arrived, with 5 people in our party. We sat at a nice private booth. It was a nice atmosphere. One person left for a minute and the waiter insisted on telling us the specials but did not take our drink order. A different person brought water but waited maybe 15 minutes to order drinks. We were ready to ordered appetizers then but they left and didn't come back for quite a while longer. After being there over an hour we eventually were brought a salad, two seafood entrees, and three different steak entrees. No one was pleased with the entrees. The three with steak - filet, delmonico, and New York strip - did not even bother to finish the meals. They were done correctly but the taste was mediocre. There was nothing special about the presentation and I would not suggest this place for a special occasion. The pace is extremely slow and there was no one walking around. I never even had my water refilled. Texas has lots of great places to get steak and this is not one of them.
Great ambiance, impeccable service and delicious food! We had an absolutely wonderful experience at this restaurant! Twice! We were in town to celebrate our daughter’s graduation and the manager and waitstaff made our evening so enjoyable, we cancelled our existing reservation for another restaurant the next night, and returned to Pecan Grill. Excellent! We highly recommend this restaurant!
Pecan Grill at the Overton is a lovely dining experience for any special occasion, and it can make any occasion special.
Sunday Brunch should always include eggs Benedict ; What was the dried beef wrap with melted cheese? Yes there was an omelet bar but As a tourist I will find elsewhere for Sunday Brunch.
Wonderful service and great food! High quality in everything, would come back anytime!
We were there Easter Sunday with a 10:00 a.m. reservation. We were seated right away. We sat probably 15 minutes before being greeted by our server and for drink orders to be taken. The service was absolutely awful - it went downhill from there. After waiting around 30 minutes for our food (we ordered off the menu) I asked a manager about it, and our server promptly delivered our meals. It was apparent they had been sitting in the window for some time. The potatoes were cold, my omelet was lukewarm, etc. The food had the potential to be really good. Unfortunately, the poor service affected everything. We will not be back.
Food was good and enjoyed our brunch. However, made the reservation with Open Table only to be told upon our arrival that they do not honor Open Table reservations! Showed them my confirmation email to a shrug. Fortunately, they weren't busy so they were able to seat us. Had they been busy, I would have been fuming! Why on earth are they listed on Open Table if they do not honor the reservations?
Very nice place. The cornbread waffles were very good.
Our server Emanuel was very professional and did an excellent job explaining any menu items we didn't understand. He helped make our evening enjoyable. The food was prepared quickly and tasted really good. My steak was cooked perfectly, and the risotto was amazing. I look forward to going back someday.
Was a awesome experience and service was beyond measure. Would definitely reccomend to any and everyone
Excellent food and worth the price. The service was outstanding and made the dinner very enjoyable.
Very nice meal and service. The dining room was at a noise level that was very comfortable for conversation.
I can't remember the name of anyone on the staff that evening, but they were all absolutely courteous, professional and definitely very accommodating. My daughter has severe nut allergies and also has to be on a strict dairy free, gluten free and nut free diet. The chef not only accommodated her needs, but provided her with a special made to order dessert as well as preparing a wonderful souffle for me that was not even on the menu. The food was absolutely delicious! Service was impeccable.
It was fine, felt like you were in a hotel restaurant, which it is. Food was very good and the server was very good and attentive.
My wife and I were traveling through Lubbock and needed a nice spot for dinner. Our hotel across the street recommended this spot and we’re glad they did. Our waiter, Frank, was great! The food was outstanding, especially the avocado & chicken soup, black eyed peas and lamb chops with tomato grits! Unexpected for west Texas, but very well done! Those dishes could rate 5 stars in any Dallas or Houston restaurants, shame on me for not thinking that you could find as good in Lubbock!
Well worth the time & money (not expensive at all) to find this jewel!
slow service on Christmas Day did not have bannana creme pie stated on holiday menu
Top notch all around. Lovely atmosphere. Good service. Food delicious and presented nicely. Yummy chicken and waffles.
I enjoy dinner it was a pretty setting with low lights, waiter was friendly and helpful. Quality food and the bread assortment was nice. Hotel was very nice also with exceptional christmas decorations as if in a larger city. We agreed it was worth the money we spent but having a complimentary salad or soup would be a good option and a menu stating the prices on desserts. Waiter brought out the desserts due to not knowing the prices on a menu we did not order . Quality of food we would return when in Lubbock and stay the night at the Hotel.
This was our first time to Pecan Grill and we were very pleasantly surprised. We were in Lubbock on business and thrilled to find such a great place! The food was exceptional, since we both had a seafood mean and both types were fresh. Unexpected in such a land-locked area. The food was well prepared and very tasty.
Our server was efficient and business-like -- could have used a little more "friendly Texan" but he got his job done.
Next time we are in Lubbock we will definitely return.
Absolutely perfect! We were celebrating our son’s graduation from Nursing School and it was a perfect choice. The food was outstanding. The soup of the Day (cream of asparagus) was AMAZING!
Service was great. Love the creative menu options that you can't get at a lot of restaurants, especially in Lubbock. I know most people don't care for restaurants in hotels, but this one is worth trying. The bar in front with live music is a great place to meet before dinner.
Relaxed quiet atmosphere after an exciting Tech win! EXCELLENT service. The food was outstanding- from the Gouda Mac & cheese for grandsons to the Shrimp
Scampi and special of
Night Pork Tenderloin. Enthusiastically recommend.
It was amazing
Our food was excellent and the menu offered a nice variety of specialty items.
It was overall a horrible experience. I never post reviews but last night was just awful.
It started with a waitress that was inexperienced and frazzled from the time we sat down (7:00 pm) until we finally left at (9:45).
When asked about a certain bottle of wine in their extensive wine list I was told by our waitress “ I would not know if it is dry or too sweet, I am not 21 years old.” I asked if a manager or bartender could come to the table and she said “gosh everyone is so busy”.
My friend ordered a glass of Cabernet and was served a glass of Chardonnay and the 21 year old waitress wanted to argue that it was a Cabernet.
Then the evening went down hill from there. Cold food, bad service, slow service, horrible plating. At one point the waitress comes to our table and said “ everything is under the heating lamp waiting for the filet to be ready”. Really, cold or lamp heated lamb chops are not too appealing. In addition the presentation of the lamp chops was in a bowl, on top of cheese grits with raspberries surrounding it. The lamb was way over cooked and hard to manage soaked in grits.
Then to top it off after all the kept warm food and the over cooked filet were delivered she said “oh my manager dropped one of the scallops on the floor so we are cooking a new one but we are keeping the others warm under the light. Hmmmm.... scallops cool very fast and when I said I did not want scallops kept under a light to get cool and rubbery that I would like all of them cooked at the same time she looked at me like I had two heads. I eventually got my scallops.... all cold and on a cold bed of rice.
I will say the ONLY highlight of the evening was the wild berry salad.
The waitstaff all seemed to be in the weeds and unorganized. For a dinner that cost $350 for 5 people and the long wait while all the tables around us arrived after us and left before us it was a meal and experience that will not garner another chance from us.
Very poor service in the restaurant. The bar service is very good, but the restaurant was extremely slow and seemed to be under staffed.
Wonderful food, wonderful service. Would highly recommend eating here for anyone wanting to avoid the busy restaurants after football games. Strawberry margaritas were excellent.
