A bit more touristy and a bit more parent-y than we remember, but Peasant still has a few home run dishes worth visiting for.
Service was amazing on a busy busy night! We pleased with our selections a delicious and fresh green salad, TAGLIOLINI CON VITELLO, and lamb chops too. Everything was yum!
Felt rushed at the table. The having to put the whole order in is pushy and creates a bad experience. Tables on either side of us agreed.
Great food and a good atmosphere, great place only issue would be that it was a bit noisy for easy conversation
Our anniversary dinner was great. Out waitress was super friendly and made the experience that much better. Food was amazing!!
Amazing food in a cozy atmosphere. Service very friendly.
Went for a friends relocation going away party and some of our guests hadn’t been to peasant before. They discovered what we’ve been saying all along about Frank, Dulci, the food and the staff, it’s an amazing restaurant that deserves 10 stars! We had an amazing time, and an amazing dinner as always!
Great service and delicious food and drinks. Portions larger than expected.
Amazing wine list and amazing food. Not that expensive either. I love this place!
Willing to reserve for party of 12 for adult birthday.
Despite extensive Italian wine list, unable to find robust red in $60 range.
Very helpful wait staff.
None of appetizers or main courses hit the mark.
It was fantastic the first time we dined there but this night was off. Our gnocchi was almost cold. We had to remind the waiter about one entree or it would never have come. We ordered two of an appetizer and only ever got one. The budino was a bit dry. The waiter was hard to find at times. I love this place (and we were downstairs this time) but I’ll not be back for a bit. The atmosphere was on point as always but overall it wasn’t great for the cost.
It was good but not great.
It was a great experience for my birthday! Thank you! They accommodated our large group with ease!
Love this restaurant, always try to go when we’re in New York.
Excellent food and ambiance. Table was not ready at the sppropriate time but it was ok.
It was the perfect spot to celebrate our friends special birthday!
Food lacked flavor. Dessert selection was not great. Service was good.
Peasant used to be my favorate but it let me down this past Saturday night
Although pretty good I didn't think the food was up to the usual standards
The Cauliflower was with Black Truffles. It was very creamy and good but I couldn't taste the truffles which it appears that I was charged an extra $30 for making the entire dish $48 :-(
The octopus was good enough The pasta with Veal Ragu seemed bland and very short on the veal. It actually resembled a cream pasta or even an alfredo. Ths suckling pig was good as always but it may have had too many potatoes on it Almost $200 for an OK meal. Frankie could and has done better Oh I almost forgot the bread pudding was awesome Too little to late sadly Peasant is in the penalty box for a while.
I’ve always enjoyed the food and service. Last night started out very beautifully. Our table ordered an excellent Brunello. We decided to order a second bottle to continue to drink after the entres. The moment the plates were whisked off the table, and we said no dessert, they brought the bill and multiple people kept poking around us picking up bits and specks from the table and generally “rushing” us off despite still having 4 glasses full of a somewhat costly wine. Sad to say it just was not so spectacular that I would put up with such rude behavior; but we all left with a bad taste in our mouths and I’ve broken my own rule of only posting 5 star reviews or none.
The food was great and not that expensive. Excellent service and good ambiance. Everything was better than expected.
Not overwhelmed by the food. The some of the food was under seasoned. I expected better based on all the reviews. I think they need some background music as the noise of everyone’s chatter sounds like you are in a noisy cafeteria.
Consistently Great food and service. Been here 10-15 times and have never been disappointed.
Really delicious food and friendly and prompt service. A bit noisy as it fills up.
Love this place...Always get a great meal and love the bar. Can get REALLY noisy though
There is a reason Peasant has stood the test of time. The food remains carefully prepared and deeply satisfying in a way that can only happen when a chef is actually in the kitchen and not out building a brand or chasing Michelin stars.
Very impressed with peasant !!! Would definitely go back, everyone was satisfied with Food, drinks and service was great.
Delicious food, great ambiance. The dining room & open kitchen were beautiful. Service was fine, not outstanding but also nothing to complain about. On the expensive side, but for such quality ingredients and a late Valentine's Day dinner, it was worth every penny! Great Soho location, too.
I love this restaurant. My biggest frustration is that unless I plan way ahead, it's difficult or impossible to get reservations for dinner.
The food is delicious and unusual. A great treat.
Good food, good ambience. Would come back for that risotto alone.
Good comfort Italian food. Ordered octopus appetizer which was very rubbery. My Risotto special with Lobster was very salty. I have dined there before and the food was better.
This is an extraordinarily authentic Italian restaurant so it felt a bit like a mini vacation! Food is quite brilliant- flavorful, hearty, yet refined, a sophisticated rendition of classic fare. It is a roaring celebratory space so one cannot have real conversation but most enjoyable
The food was amazing. Suggested wine was also wonderful. Will definitely go back!!
This is a true find in NYC where the chef owner works the line. It is rare to find quality like this at this price point. can't wait to go back and try some other stellar dishes. Squab is superb, tripe is authentic, cuttlefish was cooked perfectly, bread and complimentary fresh ricotta and olive oil hit the mark. Apple tart is lg. enough to share.
Love love loved it.
The atmosphere, the rustic feel, and delicious pizza and truffle gnocchi.
Would recommend it for a date night as well as a place for private small parties.
One of the best dining experiences in New York! The dining room is warm & cozy & the fires from the wood burning ovens add to the ambiance! The food authentic Italian & full of surprises! Outstanding ingredients beautifully prepared! Don’t miss this one!!
Best authentic Italian food in NYC
It was EPIC. We were downstairs and can’t wait to come back. Wait staff were amazing. Food was spectacular. Such a wonderful night.
Everything about this place is excellent!
