Very good as usual. We have been here 1/2 a dozen times and the food is always top notch.
A quiet, beautiful, comforting, inviting space to enjoy upscale (but approachable) food at very reasonable prices. Good wine, beers, huge flavours in the food, portions that are just right for rich and lucious food, but won't leave you trying to stretch out your waistband. :-) Just a really great place, with super nice people. Great for business, dates, special occasions, or just treating yourself and a friend or four to something special.
We came to Winnipeg for an extended long weekend. Peasant Cookery was near our hotel and recommended by our son. Food was delicious, staff was friendly and the 1/2 price charcuterie was a delicious bonus! We plan on returning on our next visit! Thanks!
Fabulous night out for our 2nd anniversary. Delicious meals all around. Can't wait to go back
Very good restaurant in the exchange district, handy for pre theatre/concert dinner, excellent food.
The very best charcuterie in Winnipeg or anywhere else!
Great atmosphere in the heart of the Exchange District; authentic, local menu; fine wine selection, local beer on tap, helpful, attentive and professional server - it doesn't get better than that!
The service was great and three out of the four meals were great. My fish was under seasoned which was the only complaint I had.
Took my grown kids there for dinner. There was something for everyone!
Our return with friends was as we remembered. A menu to cover most palettes, with excellent service. Each of the four of us had different dishes and we were all well pleased with our choices.
Always good - Friendly reception, great food, pleasant service.
We love it here. You will always find something amazingly delicious, many things to satisfy different moods and tastes, decently priced wines with a great selection of them to choose from. Beautiful, fresh ingredients made into something special. Of note to me on last visit, beet salad was so delicious and the bison meat loaf was amazing! So complex and flavourful. So many reasons this restaurant is probably in my top 5 choices in Winnipeg to dine.
Very nice staff, beautiful vibe, interesting sounding menu however food was just so-so, but pricey. Found a hair in my food, which doesn't really bother me as long as I hadn't eaten it, so that wasn't the end of the world. Atmosphere was great. If the food was better/more consistent I'd definitely come back.
The staff was friendly! Our server was polite and made us feel relaxed. Drinks were amazing and so was the food! Definitely try their salmon tartar and mussels and fries.
Chicken livers and French onion soup were great. The tourtiere was tasty, but the pastry was burnt. Steak was So So too seasoned to actually taste the meat. Service was excellent.
Wonderful gnocchi and excellent meat pie. And on Wednesday, it's buck a shuck oysters ($1 per oyster!) Servers
were outstanding as well. Highly recommend.
Very good dining experience. Quiet, spacious resturant. Dinner was not rushed. The waitress was great. The oysters were fresh and fantastic. We had duck bruchetta not bad. My freind had a well done steak unfortunately it had to be touched up on the grill. No fault to the chef just a person that dosent understand steak. Lol. I tried the cut, not great, go to La Grotta, buy an angus ribeye and diy. Much better value. For dinner i just wanted something different so i had the lamb pie. It was supposed to be a curry dish. Bla, boring. It was nice but almost no flavour. Comfort food yes if your in a culinary coma. Still i give this place credit for being a nice place.
The staff was friendly & helpful, e.g. recommended half portions so that we would not miss out on delicious appetizers. Cocktails were fine. The gnocchi dish was fine. The fish & chips dish was lack-lustre, however. Was as expected overall, but not outstanding.
The restaurant environment is very good , hope to have more main course.
Always good food and attentive and friendly service.
Have two friends visiting from England and we went to the restaurant for dinner. I have always found it excellent, but my guests were absolutely delighted. Mussels, calamari and chicken livers for starters were so delicious they were shared. We all had the pork which was superb. One slight criticism, some mashed potatoes with the pork would have made it spectacular. A lovely evening, good wine, excellent service. Thank you.
We started with the Duck Bruschetta and all 3 of us were able to sample each other's mains. My Salmon was delicious but I was surprised to find the squash mixed in with my forbidden rice. Still very tasty. My daughter's Brisket was very good and tender. My brother had the Skrei Cod and he seemed to enjoy it but it wasn't very visually appealing.
First two things me and my boyfriend ordered where very good, we got the charcherie board and the duck bruschetta. After that we got the calamari which was so salty our mouths burned. It was awful. Then followed with the meatballs, they tasted undercooked and overly chewy. I told the waiter we where unhappy and he left the food on the table and didn't offer or suggest another option. Although we where extremely happy with the first two selections and the atmosphere we left very disappointed with a high bill. We will not be going back.
My husband and I just dined at the Peasant Cookery on our anniversary. They gave us a lovely table and served a delicious meal. Service was excellent. The ambiance and quality of the food has consistently been exceptional over the years.
Have had several dinners at this restaurant. When booking on Open Table it always show full but many tables open for almost 3 hours when we have been there. Had the cod several times and this time it was VERY over done. Mentioned it to waitress and "sorry" was the response. At those prices "sorry" is not then only thing expected.
Add on cheese was the equivalent to a teaspoon of blue cheese.
Fantastic gem in Winnipeg. Must haves include the Pork, charcuretie board and the Beet salad (unreal). Service was amazing! Favourite spot in Winnipeg.
My brother was in from out of town and asked that we reserve here as we had gone a year earlier. The food and service were top notch. We were allowed to sit Andrew talk after dinner without feeling rushed. I liked the lamb pie with curry. The salmon was excellent as well according to all reports. The half chicken was great as well according to my wife.
This was not our first visit and as always we were very satisfied. We always seem to come back to this place for special occasions. Highly recommended for all around value. Not too loud. The decor is simple but interesting with all the jars of canned goods. Reminds us of the 'good old days.
Like the restaurant. Staff very friendly as well . The gnocchi was lovely
Absolutely amazing food. Everything tasted delicious, was well done and the ambiance is so nice and romantic. The staff are attentive and friendly. Very good at recommending wines you might like!
We didn't do the place justice. After our mussels and fries appetizer and beat salads we hit the wall. Next time we'll do a main dish. service and food were both excellent. Loved the atmosphere.
One of our favourite restaurants. Nice ambiance and good food. Service was prompt and attentive. Lovely waitress!
We had the tourtiere and shepards pie. Loved the twists they put on classic dishes. The portions were really generous too!
I had the half chicken as my entree. It was more like a quarter chicken and not very flavourful. The chicken piece sat on a bed of something unidentifiable. The leek bread pudding was the only really tasty part.
went out for a delayed Valentines day date! got a lovely seat at the window and had just a terrific time! service was impeccible and very helpful in deciding our entries. the salmon was one of the best I have ever had! my husband had the tourtierre that was recommended by the waiter. it was about 3" high and he loved it! great wine options as well. we will be back again!!
Our server was amazing. Very much there but discreet. Meatballs were recommended but seemed too spicy for our guys. She tried to help and then asked the kitchen to refund. Excellent.
Will definitely be back.
Great place. The maple chicken was amazing! Very romantic vibe.
Beet salad was excellent! Bacon gravy poutine was good not great. Salmon was overcooked and pickerel was okay.
Service was very good, ambiance was ok.
I had the cedar plank salmon and it was delicious. Everything it was served with was also wonderful! My husband had the bison meat loaf which was also excellent
Amazing food! Fantastic service! We have already recommended to friends and will be back.
