I enjoyed my meal. It was a cod fish dish. I did find the menu a bit limited. We found it hard to hear each other as the noise level where we sat was high. Past experiences with seating were better. I’d insist on a different seating area next time.
Peasant Cookery has been our go-to restaurant for special occasions for years. It's French distro ambience and menu always please us. We took our son and his girlfriend for our son's 22nd birthday dinner. My wife and I shared two appetizer salads for variety. The best and go at cheese salad was fantastic. The house salad was a little too acidic. I ordered the chicken livers as my main. They were fantastic. Hadn't had them in years. My wife and our 2 guests all ordered mussels. Between two orders there were at least 9 dead mussels. We brought this to our waiter's attention. He handled it so professionally and brought us another if order. The goat cheese cake was to die for. Yay for lactose-low goat cheese. The bread pudding was small but satisfying. All in All, a great meal.
Food was excellent. Portion choices are an excellent idea. Our server was a gem!
Four friends had dinner before theatre. These are my thoughts. Beet salad was very good. Tourtiere had a very strong taste. I would have preferred a lighter touch on the spices but others may like it just fine. Desserts were great. Creme Brulee was among the best I've had. Decor was nice, but the noise level got very high as the place filled up. Service was prompt and friendly. Prices were beyond what peasants could afford but fair for the quality. I would definitely recommend Peasant Cookery to others and hope to return some day.
Unique dishes. Amazing flavors. I recommend sharing dishes in order to try more.
It was great to have our appetizer choices of soup and salad divided so that both of us could enjoy tasting each. Our server suggested it and was very attentive throughout the meal. That was a highlight.
Was there with my wife and two daughters for a family get together.
Food ,atmosphere and service was outstanding. We will be back for sure.
Food was unique and well-prepared... the striploin steak was a bit over-seasoned for my taste but my wife thought it was perfect. Service was fantastic, and our server was friendly without being artificial, knowledgeable, and the only real complaint we had was that it was cold. Maybe par for the course when in Winnipeg in January... total bill was a bit over $100 for two (shared charcuterie platter, one pasta main and one steak main, as well as a couple of drinks), so reasonably priced for a nice evening out. We’d go back!
While we had a nice lunch friends from Portland the accoustics are very bad. There was a large table across from us who were very very loud. Very distracting and annoying
Excellent! Nice food, nice wine card. Bilingual staff. Very friendly personnel. Typical French Canadian food: tourtiere! Nice ambience!
