Excellent all around. Some of the chickens have gone missing, could use a few more to add to the ambiance! Loved it.
Service was great, food wasn’t. Too pricey as well.
Pleasant atmosphere. The food was quick and the service friendly. We would go there again.
My wife and I shared the table with two close friends to celebrate my birthday.
We had wonderful food and great service by our special waitress Natalien.
It never fails and it is very popular on any given day
Great room, excellent service, and food always delicious!!!
The food was excellent, with great service and fair value for the quantity. Our only comment was it could be a little cleaner. The ledges were quite dusty and the floors and bathroom could of been tidier and we were early in the evening. That being said I’d pick this restaurant any time to go back and dine. Loved our ding experience.
Really nice visit. We could have been sat right away but they held us at the door for under five minutes in order for them to accommodate the special request I had made - I was more than happy to wait! We enjoyed a little extra indulging oyster-wise with the feature they had, our mains and dessert were great. The cocktails were outstanding!!
Freshest oysters on for a dollar each on Wednesday!!! Yummy spicy seafood pasta and cedar planked salmon and the friendly welcoming staff as always!
The food was excellent with quick service. A large selection of options, although the fare is quite heavy and rich.
Food was just ok. Service was almost non existent. 14 dollar glass of wine was definitely not worth the money.
Always an enjoyable evening at Peasant Cookery. Staff are top notch and knowledgeable about the menu. We love coming here, they are so accommodating in dealing with our dietary issues and we never feel we are missing out! Will be back soon!!
Our server, Melanie, was friendly, and very helpful. The sample of a wine I had never tried before was appreciated and a treat. My partner’s meal was a nice mix but, he left feeling hungry as the portion was smaller, unfortunately. I loved my seafood pasta. I would very much appreciate more vegetarian or seafood options. Peasant Cookery is a favourite and we go there frequently before an event. Perfect location, and always a welcoming staff.
Food is always great. Our server ,Melanie, was fabulous.
Only criticism would be the chairs. Not comfortable.
Arrived early and could not help but notice how dirty the entrance hallway was. Light fixtures, air duct entrances, surfaces that should be regularly dusted were filthy with dirt and dead insects. Similarly, the sealers filled with canned goods have been sitting in the sun on window sills for many years. The contents look bleached and unhealthy. They do not inspire an appetite for you menu items.
Our waiter was attentive and made sure all of our needs were well cared for. Our dinner dishes were fabulous. Our only menu desire is for you to go back to your original bread pudding recipe. We really do not care for the chocolate in the current recipe. The chocolate results in a loss of warmth created by original recipe warm spices.
We appreciated receiving a $20 with our Rainbow Stage season tickets last season.
A friend and myself were connecting after a long winter of not seeing each other. We were going to a musical in the neighbourhood, and opted for a nice dinner close by before the event. It was a perfect choice, and an excellent evening. The staff was extremely thoughtful and accommodating.
Waitress was exceptional. Very attentive and helpful concerning my wife’s allergies.
As always, a delicious meal. I'm slowly working my way through the menu and every meal so far has been excellent. The service is also first class. The noise level can be a little annoying especially when seated near a group. The more wine, the louder the noise. Some sound blocks on the walls or suspended from the ceiling could add "perfect" to the excellent revue.
I ordered a Caesar and it was terrible. Tried getting it “doctored” up but this one couldn’t be saved. I regret not sending it back as the clam juice must have been bad.
I had the spicy pasta. Pasta room temp and the clams and muscles (cold) had been sitting for some time. Very small pasta portion. It was also undercooked. A la Dante shouldn’t crunch. Was too much in a rush to complain. 5/10 is generous. My wife loved her chicken livers and beet salad. Our server was great. I love your restaurant but this day wasn’t your best for me.
The food was amazing! The menu seemed to be different since the last time we’ve been, and it was great!
A pleasant place to go with interesting but good quality food for after the theatre! And you can visit with your partner, as it is not too noisy. Just be sure to make a reservation, as other people realize this as well!
We were a party of four -- two had the Spicy Seafood pasta, one had the Chirozo meatballs, and I had the Bison Meatloaf. Personally, I was disappointed by the lack of accompanying vegetables (the red cabbage in my dish was almost invisible) and the bison meatloaf, though tasty, was very heavy. I would have preferred less meat and more red cabbage. The others seemed pleased with their meals, though again, they were heavy on meat and starch. Overall, the menu was not "my cup of tea" but I would still recommend it to others with a caution about the style of the food.
Great food and wonderful service!
I will absolutely go back again!
As good as I had hoped it would be. The gift certificate I received for Christmas was well worth using it at peasant cookery. I will definitely be back! Keep up the good work
Excellent waitstaff at the restaurant. Very professional. We love the buck a shuck special on Wednesdays. French onion soup was tres salty but still delish.
Great food and great service, a little loud but it didn’t distract to much.
Portions were also up to par. Brisket was bang on as was the Bizon, I’ll recommend to anyone looking for that special place, even if it was downtown...
Unhappy with the service on Saturday nite for my son’s 20th birthday... our waiter did not seem very happy or interested in serving us. I had to ask for drinks, then ask about ordering...which took an hour. Place is small and was busy and I have frequented it many times and was very unhappy. The food was great, when it came but wasn’t asked for refills etc...will not be going again.
We had a really nice dinner on Saturday. Our table was the corner window table which was great for people watching! I had the Spicy Seafood Pasta, my husband and our friend had the Pork chop it looked impressive! I was jealous of my friend’s husband’s tourtiere, I think I’ll have that the next time we go! Our server was very personable, made sure we were served quickly, and out in time for the Colin James concert.
One of our party had a very long hair in his salad. While the salad was taken away and replaced, there was no offer to provide a different option, no manager came by, Waitress had difficulty explaining the ‘on tap’ options.
Wednesday nights are great for "buck a shuck" Great oysters to start and then you can follow with anything on the menu! Highlights include the house made sausage on the meat board, dry ribs that are heavenly and the list goes on! You can set up a full Tapas meal for your table or order individual entrees.
Staff and drinks were great too!
Only complaint was$14 for 6 ounce glass of house wine was excessive. However it wasn’t enough to deter from the great food that was served.
Service and food was excellent. The Manager snd server were very attentive and knew exact the moments to ask questions and take our order. We never felt rushed. We could relax and discuss business at just the right pace. Thanks Dylan Keats! We will be back.
There are few vegetarian and only one vegan dinner choice. Our server was lovely!
LOVE peasant. My daughter and I go for mussels when we can!
Absolutely fantastic. Food was excellent. Our party of four really enjoyed every dish and were very impressed with the service. We will be back.
Wonderful food, wonderful ambiance. A great place to spend the evening.
One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had in Winnipeg. All our starters were amazing. The bison meatloaf was exceptional. And our server was helpful, knowledgeable and very courteous. The atmosphere was so classic and elegant. This will now be our favourite restaurant.
Food was great as was the service!
Atmosphere always nice!
This is one of my favourite restaurants. I love the location, the ambience and, of course, the food! Tortiere and beet salad - a winning combination.
We made an online reservation and upon arrival we were seated at a table for two by a window. We found the atmosphere to be casual and relaxing. Our server was Melanie, who was upbeat, friendly and helpful in explaining some of the menu items. We were asked if we had theatre tickets so she could expedite our order. We did not and service was excellent as were the brisket and chicken dishes we ordered. We had not been there in the past, but now consider Peasant Cookery to be one of our favourite restaurants.
