toasted seeds, puffed wild rice, goat cheese mousse, arugula, caramelized honey vinaigrette
Aged Cheddar Gnocchi
Parisian-style dumplings, saffron cauliflower puree, white wine, garlic, charred tomato, onion, wilted kale, parmesan, brown butter
Portion sizes were strange. Way too much of one thing, not enough of another. Unsettling temperature of meats. The oysters were outstanding but the mignonette has really big uneven chunks of shallot. Would come back for oysters.
The food was absolutely fantastic. Service was fast, presentation and taste was better than we expected!
We had great service ! The food was good , the portion could be bigger ! It was a good experience
birthday dinner for my mother, had a very lovely experience with the food being the absolute beat part of the evening. highly recommend the Arctic Char, it is served on a quinoa and cauliflower cake which is to die for.
I was looking forward to oysters, beef tartare, and duck confit which was not on the menu yet due to COVID but will be back again to try it all.
Our server was lovely, the food was delicious, and we will absolutely be back!
The entire night was wonderful from the service to the food! Highly recommend!!
The charcuterie and cheese board & drinks were excellent. The mains (pickerel & seafood crepes) were only average, which was surprising as I’ve come to expect excellence at my wife’s favourite restaurant!
We’ll be back for Oyster night soon!
We have been several times before and have always had fantastic service and food.
This time service was lacking. Our server didn’t bring out any of our food and never came back to check if we needed anything. We even had to go to the front to get our bill.
The appetizers are always great; the main courses can be hit and miss. Cocktails are fantastic. Service and ambiance are great as well.
Will be going back. Gnocchi was delicious. One had rabbit dish and said it was very good. Want to try more dishes next time.
Excellent food overall. Consistent quality in food. Excellent service, very helpful and friendly.
Never had a bad meal here. Try the rabbit!
Great first experience with my mother. The oysters were amazing!
I would say Peasant Cookery's Beet Salad was the best I've ever had however I was very disappointed at our visit. The beets had no flavor. Spoke to the Manager and Wait Staff and they said they would mention it to the Chef. I doubt that I will order that the next time.
The occasion was a mini friends reunion, we haven't seen each other in 10yrs. so of course we were catching up and not looking at our menus. Our server was very polite and understanding. Gave us all the tine to catch up. Would come around to make sure everything was alright. Once we finally got to the menus, the options were all mouth watering. The food was great, the service exceptional.
I really enjoyed every aspect of the meal from beginning to end! Never disappointed! Loved the cocktails
First time going to Peasant Cookery and it was great. Exceeded our expectations.
First time to this restaurant. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality and value of our food. We had the calamari and carpaccio to start. This was followed by the pork chop, pickerel dinner, rabbit pasta and tourtiere. Excellent dinner and would recommend this restaurant
We have dinner here every time we are in Winnipeg. Food is fantastic. Service is amazing. They are great with kids. They have done a very good job with the new Covid reality.
Food was okay, took a long time to get to our table. Would only go on Wednesdays for $1 oysters good deal.
It wasn’t my first time here and I usually love it. Today I have to admit I was a little underwhelmed with the food. My partner’s first time and he enjoyed his pork chop... I tired it and it was delicious. The charcuterie board was a bit to daring for me this round and I’ve had better tourtiere from you in the past.
Food, wine and service were all very good. It was quiet since the capacity was reduced due to Covid. I will come here again.
Service was excellent. The ambience and decor were quite nice but the bathroom could use some repairs. I think there had been some recent vandalism. I was disappointed they had no cocktail menu despite having a very nice bar. My wife and I were also disappointed in the desserts. Used a strawberry syrup as opposed to rhubarb syrup on the spice cake, and the roasted berries on the crepe were actually fresh berries. We should have been told before we ordered because what we got was not exactly what we ordered. With the struggles around Covid, I can understand these issues. Despite all that, I still give this location 4 stars because the Mains were amazing. My wife and I had the Rabbit Papparelle and the Pickerel. Portion size was quite large on both dishes, and the flavors were a slam dunk. I would recommend and go back again.
Peasant Cookery is one of our favourite spots in the city. The food is always top notch without being pretentious. To start we had the beet salad, which is one of our all time favourites. The whipped goat cheese is perfectly balanced and the toasted wild rice gives the dish amazing texture. We also tried the chicken livers for the first time and they were phenomenal. The dark and stormy is dangerously good. We'll be back!
Didn’t realize that the Oysters weren’t on the Wednesday menu in the evening. Only from 1-5 pm. Kinda the big reason we go. Might not have reserved knowing this in advance.
Delicious food every time we've eaten here. Excellent service as well. I recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Menu was quite different due to restrictions but everything was delicious. We were very cold.
Celebrated our anniversary
Eclectic ambiance and food is lovely in taste, presentation & texture.
First indoor dining in post Covid isolation. Physical distancing, disposable menus and friendly attentive service was in place. Good time.
Nice relaxing atmosphere. Good wine list that changes. Chicken liver appy excellent and recommend. We had the pickerel which was really good. Pork chop was excellent. Very friendly and attentive service.
Great food. Lovely space
Every bite of food was phenomenal.
Our service was a bit disorganized.
That said, we had an amazing experience. I loved it.
Like the last time we dined - the service was excellent. Such a friendly waitress. I wish we got her name so I could personally thank her. She made the experience so enjoyable.
We had my brother and his partner visiting from out of town. The food, service, ambience, etc. we’re absolutely excellent.
Extra care like paper menus and well spaced seating for the virus indicate that they are supporting social distancing and extra care.
We had a lovely time, very tasty Manitoba food and amazing service!
Peasant is one of my personal favourites in Winnipeg! Always a homely feeling and the food is comfort and always delicious. I’d definitely recommend attending on Wednesday for buck a shuck oyster night! Be warned though, there is normally a wait so make a reservation.
This is my favourite restaurant as of Wednesday. I had the charcuterie, my wife had the steak. I got the chef to give me a side of cheese, chefs choice. Fantastic. I will not review the food, you have to go there and eat. You will NOT be disappointed.
