A perfect night. Informed service, excellent food, and the ambiance is refined yet relaxed. I recommend the tourtiere!
Good food, good service, all-around nice evening!
Excellent service. Always enjoy this restaurant. A Winnipeg favourite.
Always delicious and great service, our favourite restaurant!
It's a great place to take people from out of town. Good opportunity for them to see exchange district with all the old buildings and enjoy a nice meal
Been to Peasant Cookery a handful of times, and without fail they always impress. I came for a business dinner, my peer had the bison meatloaf with a beet salad appetizer, and I had the California cut Sirloin with an onion soup appetizer. All of it was exquisite. Our server Melanie was also incredibly kind and helpful in our selections. Will certainly be going again, and always highly recommend. Keep up the great (and delicious) work!
Predinner drink, wine and food all came at the same time.
Excellent service and ambiance! Except we were promised a free desert for our anniversary and then was charged for it.
Food is nothing special.
Oignon soup missed additional cheese and spice.
The Aged cheddar gnocchi was tasteless and a tiny portion.
The Seafood pasta was good, but nothing exceptional for the price and one again a small portion.
Food was mediocre, I was expecting more based on what I had heard about it. Over priced for the quality and amount of food.
Loved this place. Came highly recommended from friends that live in the area. Will go back. The food and service was outstanding.
Had dinner with family and friends before the Elton John concert! Our waitress was amazing! She was so accommodating and made great menu recommendations.! Drinks, appetizer’s, meals and dessert were all fabulous! Our first time but certainly not our last!
I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone. Unfortunately I found the food was a bit disappointing, maybe because I had higher expectations. My chorizo meatballs were a bit dry, and the presentation was not super amazing.
The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Great, wide selection of wines by price. We were recommended a lovely Portuguese wine in our price range and it did not disappoint.
Special dinner. Great attention to one of our group who is celiac
Service was great!
French Onion soup good, small portion, priced a bit high as was the delicious Butternut Squash soup, bit pricey at $11.
Husbands main plate, spicy seafood pasta, mussels over cooked, they were dry in the shell, the 4 shrimp were dry as well and there was no real sauce. I had the beef brisket that came with 2tablespoons of bacon potato salad, some tasty baked beans and a few cooked green beans and of course the brisket. My plate was ok. We had no alcohol, no appetizers, I had peppermint tea. Our bill was almost $92. We left our server a tip. We felt this was a big price for poor to ok food. Our server was delightful 😊 Second time there and won’t be back
Great food and service. focus on Canadian / French cuisine. Love this place. Always a mainstay.
The food here was amazing! The service staff were very attentive and friendly. I will definitely return
So it was okay, the food for the most part was very good, though our bread pudding desert was almost inedible, it was burnt and dry.
Behind us was a table of Middle Aged people who had been over served. They were actually yelling and carrying to the point that our table couldn’t have a conversation and the waitress couldn’t hear our order, but the issue was never addressed. It was 8pm on a Tuesday, they should have been moved to the lounge. There were also fruit flies all around us. For the price it didn’t come close to meeting our expectation I won’t be back.
Service was pleasant and efficient. She took time to explain the dishes we were not sure of. Nice variety and all dishes chosen were excellent. Nice to see local product featured on the menu.
The overall experience was fair, but not what we had in mind going in. The service was acceptable, but not particularly special. Additionally, the menu is far too pricy for our taste, especially for a plate that could have been prepared with relative ease in our own kitchen. I had the dinner special of flank steak (medium rare), potatoes and vegetables. The steak had a ripe gamey smell, which I found unappetizing. The potatoes and vegetables lacked seasoning and were slightly soggy. My friend had the maple chicken, and found parts of it to be rather dry. This could have been avoided if we had done the necessary research.
1. Very noisy; objectionable. Please amend the choices available for that category in the list above.
2. Too few serving staff on the floor. Customers should not have to try to control their frustration as the waiting staff is overwhelmed by other tables. This is not fun!
Gluten free options explained to us and were delicious :)
I had lunch with friends at Peasant Cookery. Quite good. I had the mussels and the were excellent. Our server was very accommodating with minor menu substitutions. I’ll go again.
Dinner was slightly salty.. But otherwise, it was great
They did a lovely job catering to my gluten allergy. Lovely service and amazing food.
another great dinner at Peasant Cookery! the steak was dine to perfection. will be back again!
A stunning evening! Warm and friendly staff, professional service, expertly crafted cocktails, all around a delicious, fragrant and well seasoned meal.
Great service! Our server was so lovely and very efficient.
I had the Gnocchi and my partner had the steak.
Gnocchi could’ve been more of an appetizer as it was quite small. Nonetheless, it was delicious!
Steak was beautiful and cooked exactly how my partner wanted it.
We had the creme brûlée on the house as it was my birthday. So delicious!
This was my partner and I’s first time there and will definitely be going back to try out the menu some more.
Great food and really nice server — she was excellent !!
I had dinner at Peasant Cookery with my girlfriend and one of my best friends. The food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. What made the experience amazing was definitely our waitress Carly who was not just energetic, very friendly and enthusiastic, but she engaged in conversation whenever she had the chance. She was very attentative to our table and was there very quickly whenever we needed something.
As the night went on, the restaurant did get much busier and it was tougher to have a conversation without slightly raising my voice. Otherwise, great memorable night, and I would go have dinner again at Peasant Cookery in a heartbeat.
Had the salmon which was excellent. Staff was very attentive.
Great service and great location. Hit or miss with the food.
Great food, neat ambiance, good service. The seating is not very comfortable.
We are from Alberta and this is our third visit to Peasant Cookery. This is our favourite Winnipeg restaurant! The food is delicious, service is excellent and the atmosphere is the perfect. It is cozy without being cramped and lively without being loud. This visit we celebrated a family members birthday. We brought in a Cakeology cake ahead of our reservation and they stored it in their fridge for us. After supper, they lit candles on it and brought it out. Of course they also sliced it up and served it. We enjoyed their gnocchi (so good!), salmon, braised beef and pickeral along with a few great bottles of wine. All plates were cleaned of all food, lol. We look forward to our next visit.
Visited this restaurant several times before and it was very good. This time just awful - cod that i had was overcooked and rubbery and my wife’s tourtiere was not as good as previous times - mussel appetizer disappointing. Server was unprofessional not interested at all. For a Friday evening it was half full. Tale telling sign i guess.
Overall a wonderful experience. We were seated quickly as we had a reservation (very recommended). Food was well balanced and portioned. Our server was very present—we never touched our wine bottle to add to our glasses. Highly recommend this establishment
A great place all the way around - as usual. Food for all of us was exceptional as is the location and setting.
Food was delicious as always and our server was excellent- warm, courteous, and very efficient.
Burger week burger was ok. Not great. Needed something a little sweet and or sour to change the flat flavour of the burger. The choice of smoked cheese was a little too strong. Based on the most expensive burger for Winning’s 2019 entry was just ok.
