Pearl Raw Bar
Located on Main St, in the Fan District, Pearl offers a variety of seafood specialties including local oysters, shrimp and crab legs. The decor has a classic oyster bar feel. The front room is more casual with a marble bar, reclaimed wood tables and televisions. The back sun room is a quieter dining room with sky lights and garage doors that open to the outside in nice weather.
Saturday & Sunday: 10:30am - 2:00am
It was quite hot so we ate inside, right next to a very active bar scene. WE couldn't talk much because of the noise level, but I thought it would probably be noisy. Ididn't realize how busy a neighborhood restaurant was on Monday night --oyster night.
The oysters were great, the rice not so great. I ordered a NA beer, Beck's, and was quite surprised that it cost $6.00
The server was attentive and freindly.
Went there for the oysters and they were outstanding, as were the other dishes we ordered. Lobster roll is a standout. Casual atmosphere and excellent service.
Phenomenal crab legs! Best in Richmond!
Great place to grab some seafood in the Fan. The back room is really awesome--much more spacious than the front room. The Happy House specials are the best! Enjoy!
Very bad gnats problem. There was hair in my food, but once server & manager was notified, they gladly reduced the bill & to bring out a fresh order.
Great neighborhood venue for casual dining. Despite its Fan location, I've never had trouble parking. Smallish, yet varied menu. Reasonably-priced. Courteous, efficient, and unobtrusive service. Arugula cranberry pecan salad with goat cheese is wonderful. Best sweet potato fries I've had anywhere. How do they get them so crispy?
Great atmosphere and Tuesday night crab leg special is awesome!
Waited 15 minutes before waitress even came to the table. Had to go ask hostess what was going on. Never refilled water glasses. Did not get half of my order and when asked about it, waitress apologized but it took another 15 min to get the additional item and then it was charred - 4 small shrimp for $7! I will say - the raw oysters were great.
Great place! Loved the back room. Service was awesome and the food was fresh.
Great. Good food and wine selection.
Food was good—BUT how can you be a place that serves crab and not have picks to get the crab out? Perhaps that’s why I had to send two forks back due to bent tines.
Also, there was a real fly problem. Recent article about what do the best chefs look out for when they eat out highlighted flies as a symptom of poor sanitation.
Our family loves going to Pearl on Monday Night which is "oyster night." We always start off with two dozen Chesapeake raw oysters. They are delicious and a great value at $10.99 a dozen. Other Monday oyster specials are also very good, especially the oyster stew. Besides oysters, there are many other excellent seafood options. The crab and corn chowder is great and makes for a nice meal with an arugula salad. Happy hour offers reduced pricing on draft and bottled beer. House wines are also reduced. There are two seating areas at Pearl. The bar area has wooden booths and bar seating. The rear seating offers more space and works best for larger parties.
We usually love Pearl’s but there were serious problems this time. We were seated in the back next to the garage doors. The garage doors were filthy and flies were everywhere. I killed 13+ flies myself and that didn’t make a difference. The server said they had the doors open at lunch. It was disgusting.
The oysters were okay. The rest of the food was so disappointing. The calamari was greasy - the breading was soaked with oil. Every component of my tacos looked as if it was prepared days before. The kids grilled cheese was solidified by the time served. Every thing served was lukewarm to cold (all the fries were cold).
Our server (Jessica) was friendly and attentive. She was the best part of the experience.
I am not sure we will return.
My wife and I visited Pearl for our 2nd anniversary, and we were thrilled with our choice! We had oysters, the tuna tower, the blackened tuna steak and the crab cakes, and it was all spectacular! Maegan was wonderful and a great help at choosing which oysters to order. We were also very pleased with drinks. We will definitely be back!
Great neighborhood spot for brunch!
Love the seafood sampler a little of everything, clams, mussels, shrimp, oysters, and crabs... delicious. Crab dip has alot of crab! Blackened tuna was cooked just right. Drinks were great. Server was very attentive and timed meal perfectly. Oh walnut and cranberry salad with champagne vinaigrette was huge and delicious. Will definitely go back.
Food was good! Oysters especially! Restaurant was not busy but server did not spend any time going over options. She also dropped off pitcher of mimosa and didn’t pour. She promptly dropped appetizers off without passing plates, oysters were not labeled on sampler so we had no idea which we were eating.
My daughter lives in RVA. Took her, her roommate and my son to Pearl to celebrate her birthday. The kids (20-somethings) were skeptical. Said it was only a bar. They were very pleased at the marvelous oysters, shrimp, and entrees. They were very pleasantly surprised. We had raw and steamed oysters and steamed shrimp for appetizers with a variety of cocktails. Followed by grilled lobster, Mahi-Mahi Tacos, baked Rockfish and a cheeseburger. We were very please with all the food. It is loud venue but tolerable.
My parents were in town for their anniversary and they love seafood so I suggested Pearls. It was delicious as always, the service good, and the drinks fun. In the steamed platter, the shrimp were a little over cooked but the crab legs were the best thing all day.
Great environment. I loved the old music they played, the service was great, and it's a great local spot. However, the crab cakes were stateless and had too much breading. The calamari was great. I would stick to appetizers if i go again.
Food and drinks were amazing. One of my favorite places to eat. Everything I have tried has tasted wonderful.
The food and service were awesome! Not great for kids, no kids menu
Truly a wonderful dining experience! The brussel sprout appetizer was truly the best we have ever had!!!!
I was super excited about the crab leg special but unfortunately the crab legs were so scrawny and dried out, tasted like they had been frozen. Pretty disappointed. Our waitress was great though.
Everything was great! The crab dip and calamari was really good.
Good happy hour specials, delicious food at value prices. Staff eager to please
The food was very good! The service could have been better and it is very cold in there!
First time at Pearl Raw Bar and won’t be our last! Very good food, great service, and very enjoyable environment! Great menu... something for everyone. Will be back for sure!
Took my parents here when they visited and they loved it!!! Everything is great, great happy hour too!
Very fresh seafood. Outstanding bar and service was excellent.
Genuine Richmond dining experience. Fun place with above average food. A great day menu with options for both brunch and lunch on the weekend. Met here with a group of friends and they were all pleased.
Great first experience celebrating my birthday. Will definitely go back!!
Great weekend brunch find! Fluffy pancakes. Great French toast. Something for Everyone...
Great variety on the menu. Loved the corn and crab chowder and fish tacos.
Oysters, snow crab, shrimp, Bloody Mary, everything was awesome!
First time we have been here. Will definitely be back.
Excellent oysters, cocktails, and carrot cake dessert. The entrees were good but not g
Nice experience, it was my first visit and I will return. I counted on my server for menu advice and was not disappointed. I will say my visit was early, 5:30 pm Saturday. It will be a good idea for reservations and awareness that the later hours they are busy!
Very nice. Food was good and service great. Waitress was very patient and accommodating. Definitely go again.
Loved the drinks, loved the look of the restaurant, but the food was very under seasoned. Crab soup was bland, but luckily old bay was at the table. the main part of every dish was ok, but sides were so bland that they just were left on the plate.
