Excellent cuisine & attentive service, ambiance was on target and pricing reasonable
We will definitely be back! The farm-to-fork recipes were beyond delicious! The brunch menu was sophisticated yet apt to please any guest (even one with a picky palate!). Even the roasted tomato salad dressing was mind-blowing! All of the little extra touches made it that much more special. The brunch is definitely worth the price...so come with an appetite and prepare to be wowed.
Great atmosphere, people and excellent food and service
We went for Brunch after dropping off our son at CNU. Great food and excellent service. Very unique menu but lots of food for the price. Can't wait to stop by again when in town, a must try.
Improvements made to entire restaurant through new ownership. Great staff and decor. Food is excellent and we'll thought out. The dishes look beautiful and they taste even better
The food was superb with excellent presentation. Service was on the mark. Fine surroundings. Possibility of outdoor dining but hot weather didn't permit. For fine French food the bill was as expected, included wine appetizer dessert and coffee. The carrot cake was a highlight.
First visit. Nice setting, imaginative cocktails, excellent service, superb food! Somewhat expensive but worth it.
Staff very pleasant and attentive. Food was delicious. The presentation of our dishes were excellent and the flavor matched. Cherry on top is they use mainly self grown or local ingredients!
Excellent food and service. We would definitely go back there. I was particularly impressed by the organic food and the staff knowledge of the sustainable source.
great experience with awesome food and service. so glad I read the reviews on this place and it's turned out to be a best kept secret. will start passing the word around.
My friend and I met to catch up and visit. We enjoyed the delicious beef tips and pasta. We sat and talked for a couple of hours, uninterrupted! Thanks.
The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. There were 4 of us and we had 3 different meals. Every one of us was more than satisfied with our choice! The scallops were cooked to perfection and the beet risotto was just the right choice. The rockfish was tender and crispy with a fabulous side that had an interesting mixture of veggies. We had churro bites with fruit salsa for dessert and it was light, and fresh and the whipped cream was homemade and yummy. We will definitely be back for another meal!
Really Excellent meal. Leave your past experiences behind! We tried Pearl several years ago and the food was okay. We left hungry because of tiny portions. The New Pearl Bistro is awesome. The service was great- friendly and attentive but not overbearing. The curried mussels were amazing and the french onion soup was out of this world yummy!
I had the filet and it was perfect. My husband had the duck and it was excellent. It was just a really relaxing and delicious evening.
Our server Josh was very knowledgeable and helpful. Food was , perfectly portioned and tasted amazing! Thank you for a great first experience Pearl 703, we will be back soon!
We really enjoyed the Crab cake sandwiches that we had. They were a little small with the portions on the sweet potato fries. (more like a child's portion). The taste of the food was delicious! One of the best Crab-cake sandwiches I have had. It did take quite a while for the food to come out......but there were only 2 other tables with customers, so I am sure nothing was pre-prepared and it was all fresh. Overall, it was tasty, but they could use some appetizers on the lunch menu. Not everyone just wants soup to begin with.
Our first time. Very pleasant, comfy surroundings. My wife and I shared a salad, entrée and dessert and all were top drawer. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable. Located in a nice part of Newport News. Definitely worthy of a return visit.
Diane was a great server. Love the remodeling job!
The ingredients, flavors, and overall execution is the best on the Peninsula. We are *never* disappointed when we come eat here.
Very attentive service friendly staff! The food is all grown and farmed locally. Which was very apparent in the taste and presentation!
We enjoyed one of the best French onion soups, a fresh beet salad with fresh goat cheese and a delicious light dressing along with a scallop entree over risotto. We finished with a homemade dessert 2 words something mess! It was amazing.
The next time we are in Newport News we will definitely stop in to see them!
We took a group of 12 to PB for social-business dinner. Great ambience, the staff was awesome. Loved the organic food choices, great wine selection. We had a great evening and I hope to come back to PB.
Delicious food and wonderful staff.
My wife and I wanted a romantic night out. Pearl 703 is the new name of Pearl Bistro which as we understand it is under new management. The atmosphere is 5 star, the service was better than anything in Hampton roads, and actually more attentive than the Trellis of Williamsburg. The food was the best quality food we have experienced anywhere in Newport News or Hampton. This little gem was fine dining at its best, in a cozy setting. Not one time did we want for anything. They had an extensive wine list, the appetizer was as infused with different flavors as the main course was and the desert which blew our minds. If I did not see, taste and experience the quality enough to say any better I would say it was a bit pricey, but honestly it was worth every single cent and the large tip we happily left our waiter whom we hope to meet again. Overall experience was amazing and we can't wait to return!
Our first time there was on Valentine's Day. We just loved it, so we soon brought family members back to eat there again with us. We love that the food is locally sourced too.
Was able to get in on a Friday night right after opening. Sold out for dinner so we had a couple cocktails and a recommended scallop app. Spectacular flavor and textures. Bartender was great. Cocktail pour was mediocre at best.
I've worked in restaurants and food for the last 14 years. I've learned how to spot quality and notice when corners are cut. Pearl is a gem, particularly given the area. There are VERY few classy restaurants in Newport News, and Pearl is a great destination for local couples. Ingredients, service, ambiance and execution are all on point. Bravo.
Great, innovative food, fantastic service and creative cocktails! We really enjoyed the special Valentine's Day menu and we are looking forward to trying the regular menu soon.
The food was delicious. They get all their food locally and you can taste the freshness. The service was wonderful. They are very accommodating. I would definitely go back and would suggest others to try it. They will not be disappointed.
I have been to this venue a couple of times, each time the restaurant was on the cold side-not good for ladies. Portions are on the small side, but presented well. Service is above average, but not spectacular. I would go back during the warmer weather.
We were celebrating my wife's birthday so we wanted a special dinner. Pearl is definitely a gourmet restaurant. The food was all very good. The waitress was very able and attentive. I had some Mahi Mahi. My son had the rabbit. My wife had the onion soup and the crab cake. Both were excellent. The highlight of my meal was the baked squash and cheese. It s gourmet comfort food. We were there on a cold rainy night so it wasn't very crowded. This probably meant that it was quieter and the service was quicker than typical.
The food was very good. The wine list needs a few more choices $70-$125 range. The wine we got was nice though. Can't wait to try it in the spring on the nice outdoor patio.
I have passed Pearl before, but noticed lately a new sign and lights, etc. We decided to splurge and try it out this past weekend and it was awesome. The staff was extremely friendly and our server was knowledgeable about almost everything on the menu and provided great recommendations. I had the rabbit curry which was delicious. For an appetizer I had the andouille sausage/alligator potstickers and the flavors were amazing. They could have been a meal in themselves. The specialty cocktails were a bit pricey, but the wine was quite reasonable - great selections though for both. My fiance had french onion soup and the scallops which he said were great, but he liked my selections better! I highly recommend for a night out, we'll definitely be back.
The owner sent an email: come to have dinner and then see the Holly Dazzle Fireworks Show. The restaurant is a short walk from the display, dinner will be delicious, and parking for the show would be convenient. Worked out great!
Food was perfect, really great new menu items. Local sourced ingredients were the stars of the dishes. Great all around
I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion. Over all the food was really good to excellent, the service was great. The crab cakes were excellent, my daughter had a salmon dish which was really good. My wife had a daily special which was good. Although the desert selection was limited, I had a lemon desert which was good. I was hoping for a better selection of deserts, they ran out of key lime pie for which I wanted. But overall , our dining experience was well worth the visit. I've read about the chef in the local newspaper and it lived up to what I read and the expectations.
The al gratin potatoes were great but the rest was bland. Server seemed inexperienced.
Wow! So impressed with Pearl 703. Greeted at the door, and welcomed into a new updated dining room. This restaurant has a lot of potential to be a better dining spot than it ever has been. New owners, new menu, new wait staff and with the recent write-up in the Good Life section of the Daily Press this place is now again one of my favorite go to restaurants. Can't wait to try the lunch menu. We had a wonderful dinner on a very busy Saturday night, dining room was almost full plus a party in the party room. Scallop appetizer was amazing and even with the place full the food was cooked to perfection. My dinner entrée was the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and a mixed vegetable of butternut squash and swiss chard, it was really good. My husband had the Scallop entrée, he loved it. Crème brulee and key lime pie were both freshly made. Happy to say, we will be back.
If you want a quiet location for a business meeting, Pearl Bistro is ideal. The menu is great and interesting and the wine list is diverse and affordable.
Not sure if they changed chef's or management, but this is not the same restaurant as when it opened.
The food was good, but not fantastic. It's definitely not French. The wine list was mediocre with no vintage listed next to the selections.
Not a bad experience, just not memorable. Too bad, this used to be a gem.
On a good note, the service was superb.
Great restaurant, superb presentations ten out of ten rating.
Went for my birthday with husband and parents. Decor is underwhelming and furniture is not what is expected for fine dining. But the food! And the drinks! Service also excellent. Don't be put off by the decor, after an amazing cocktail or 90 point glass of wine you will soon feel you're in a fancy restaraunt
