Peaks Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We have been visiting Peaks every year now for the last four years for our anniversary. We went the first time just on a whim because we thought it would be fun to take the tram up to the top of the mountain and have dinner but were pleasantly surprised by the excellent quality of food and the service staff that we found at the restaurant. Every year we return on your anniversary now as a tradition and our meal is always memorable and of the best quality possible… Many people think that the restaurant might be more tourist oriented because of its location however that could not be farther from the truth… This is probably one of the nicest dining experiences in the Palm Springs area! And the double cut pork chop is the most amazing that I’ve ever had anywhere! Peaks will satisfy even the most discriminating foodie!
We had such a horrible experience. My skirt steak was like rubber we returned our mandarin salad because it just tasted like watercress bad flavor and our beef tartar appetizer was horrible but our Bloody Mary drink was delicious and our Godiva double chocolate cake was great too. So we ended up paying $156.57 for the horrible meal.
I was not happy with choosing this place for dinner & celebrating my boyfriends birthday. The food was great but I think the staff lacked professionalism nor did they care to have an interest in what brought us into their restaurant. Even though we had a reservation we still had to wait 15 mins to be seated & once we were sitted it still took a long time to place our orders for drinks & food.
We were not expecting much based on the comments so maybe that affected our review. However, the food was surprisingly good and the view was amazing. Based on the waiter’s comments he had not tried any of the menu items, which was disappointing. The appearance of the place reminded me of long-standing, low bidder vendors in national parks. So we were pleasantly surprised when the meal that came out was well-prepared and seasoned. We would go back.
Nice atmosphere and views. Good service. Wine selection was limited and pricey for the quality of wine. We had the fillet minion and it was cooked properly but not seasoned. Their beef is grass fed but we wouldn't have known if we didn't ask the server because its not specified on the menu. We also have gluten and dairy free limitations and it was tough to navigate the ingredients because there is no information on the menu.
At first, my husband and I were skeptical because the appetizer we ordered was not that great, and the prices were pretty high. Then we got a standard Brick Chicken meal and it also was not good. Even the potatoes were poorly cooked. Then on my burger, they put the wrong type of cheese on their (Even though it still tasted pretty good). We eventually realized that the nice couple next to us had ordered before us, but we got our food first. We come to find, after we had already started eating our meals, that they had given us THEIR meal, which is why we got our food first! We had actually ordered the exact same thing!
We were about to give up, so we actually told the waiter that the chicken was not that great and we would like to take It off our bill.
He then offered us a complimentary dessert on the house.
He apologized for the chicken and willingly took the chicken off our bill. When we got our check, we were pleasantly surprised because he had not only taken the chicken off our bill, but he also covered our $8 dessert. Our bill only came out to $37 for two people with an appetizer, and dessert. And the dessert was SOOO GOOD!
Because of their kindness, the whole night turned around for us and we really enjoyed our meal. They were very accommodating when we had an issue. For that reason, I would highly recommend this restaurant. Just don't order the bruschetta appetizer or the brick chicken :-)
Went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Make a reservation, restaurant was busy and without a reservation you would have a wait. Had the tuna poke appetizer and the blue bacon burger with Cream Brule for dessert. All were very good and would go again and order the same. Chris the waiter was very good and attentive.
We had reservations made a month a head of time for 630. We arrived at 615. We were not seated until 710. 2 other tables were seated after us and received water as soon as they sat down. We had to for our waitress and asked twice before we finally got water. For a restaurant with upscale prices our waitress was not even polite. Let alone helpful. They must not depend on return customers due to the location but at least I am able to leave a review
Food needs to get better. Burger was a pre made patty. They serve some of the same food as the buffet at double the price. Hostess was not very inviting. It was our anniversary and they did not mention one thing, I put it in the notes of our reservation. Wait staff was fabulous and view was amazing.
Ordered the Caesar Salad with grilled chicken. Really didn't need to add the chicken, the salad was bountiful with a fair amount of dressing. Our waiter was very attentive and never let our water glass go half empty, or half full. The tram ride up was wonderful with a rotating platform so that you can get views from every angle. Highly recommend this restaurant and trip to San Jacinto Peak from Palm Springs.
Took my wife here for our Anniversary. She had the flatbread pizza, and I had the meatloaf. Food was delicious and delivered to us in a timely manner. Staff was attentive and polite. There was a decent selection of wine and craft beers and a small dessert menu. Moderate to expensive prices, but I felt the food and experience justified the cost.
I had the pork chops with mashed potatoes and gravy with apple sauce and a vegetable. My co hubby ordered the salmon. Both dishes were excellent, for desert we had the creme brulee which was outstanding. Service was excellent. If you go to the top of Mt San Jacinto on the Tram I highly recommend eating here
We were on vacation in Palm Springs, and the aerial tram was not to be missed. Peaks Restaurant was at the top of the tram. We had lunch there. Great views. Great food. The waiter could have been more attentive. After some hiking, a great place to have a meal.
Service was barely average and the server took way too long for everything , like getting our drink refills and did not bring us a to go box so we had to ask another hostess/busser. Also, the server had lower energy and seemed to be off. The park chop was delicious, and the steak was also tasty but everything else was just average. The only reason we would go back is because this is the only fine dining restaurant at the top of the mountain, other than the cafe. If there was another one, we wouldn't go back, especially since it was a little but not terribly overpriced.
Go for the view and maybe for the food and not really for the dining experience. Definitly a tourist place. Its an amazing view with ok food. The salads were really great - meat loaf and steaks... well just ok not super high priced but not great. We went for the last seating at 1900 on a Monday night. It was very quiet and not many people up there so we did not experience the crowds. They definitely pack you into the tram. On the way up we were with maybe 10 people and we were all able to see all the views. On the way down it was packed and a little claustrophobia set in for my wife.
I would do it again but maybe target the place for a larger party type event or appetizers and eat at one of the many great places in Palm Springs.
I received the worst service at this restaurant. My friend I got seated and ordered our food right away. We ordered two burgers. We waited over 40 minutes to get our food. Also people who were seated after us and ordered at least 20 minutes after we did, got there food before we did. One couple got seated after us, ordered after us, received their food before we did, and got there check before our food even got out. Let's not mention they ordered two burgers as well. Scott was a server and he checked on us once letting us know there a mix up in the kitchen, after we already waited 30 minutes. Once we got our food, he never returned to our table. We asked one of the busers for our check since we could not locate him. He checked on another table before getting to us and took his time returning our bill. I understand mistakes happen, but the fact that Scott did not even try to inform us immediately or even pay attention us is just horrible customer service. The ambiance was amazing, but was ruined by the horrible service. Hands down my worst experience ever.
While the view is breathtaking, there is no added value to dining here than the other options - including your own brown bag. The windows were covered with flies and their dead compadres on the windowsills, the bread was beyond stale, meat undercooked, portions embarrassingly small and the service lackluster. Disappointing meal for a birthday occasion.
Atop Mt San Jacinto the view cannot be beat! Food very nicely prepared - the star for me was the ahi poke appetizer with Wakame! WOW! Salmon was OK but not dazzling. Greens and quinoa on side were wonderful. Service was efficient and done very well. Beautiful venue with amazing view!
I know that you're at the top of the mountain so expectations should not be that high. However, the way they describe the restaurant is so much different from the actual product. This is NOT fine fining by any measure. Everything is old and tired and, I hate to say it, a little bit dirty. It's like you're grandma' house now that she's too old to really take of things. Food wasn't bad bit pricey for the experience. Overall, I'd recommend getting food from the cafeteria and finding an outside table - better food, better view and less expensive.
