A warm and inviting welcome was given on arrival. My friends and I enjoyed a spectacular festive afternoon tea/ birthday celebration in the wonderfully decorated ‘Peacock ‘Alley’ every bite was delicious and beautifully presented by friendly and attentive staff. From the doorman, front of house, kitchen, waiting and bar staff, all were exemplary. Music was a little too low, but it can be a difficult balance to strike and did not detract from our enjoyment. We will be singing your praises to all our friends and family. Thank you WA Edinburgh for a wonderful afternoon.

Very good service afternoon tea was outstanding we were celebrating our anniversary so I had asked if they could do something special to make it a little bit special not knowing what they gave us complementary drinks on arrival and produced a plate with happy anniversary wrote in chocolate and decorated which was a nice gesture

Food and ambience lovely but ……. My friend and I had the festive afternoon tea with a bottle of Prosecco. Despite booking well in advance, our first table was too low down but we were moved without too much hassle. Service was slow however we had lots of catching up to do so this wasn’t a huge problem. However, when I asked for the bill, I also asked for a blue light discount which I have successfully used before, our server said she would ask her supervisor as she wasn’t aware of a discount. She came back and said no discount, I showed her the discount offer on food on my blue light app, she checked with the supervisor again who again said no but grudgingly gave me a discount anyway! This whole process was hugely embarrassing and I was made to feel like a cheap fake!

The Festive Afternoon Tea was an incredible experience! The sandwiches were average but the cakes were on another level and thoroughly enjoyable!! We received two mince pie scones but only one normal scone (we had to share that one) which seemed strange at this price point!

Gorgeous room, Christmas decorations are fabulous, although main lighting could be muted to add to the atmosphere. The floor team were all lovely but the service was haphazard. Constant interruptions were annoying. Food and drinks were great.

We were very cold , sitting with sweaters on . We had to wrap our woollen scarves around ourselves . Did not want to actually put our coats on . There was a mix up with our order and the tea was far too strong . Have been going to Peacock Alley for more than 30 years . This is the first time we have had any issues .

Lovely friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Value for money but it is expensive. However, consider this a meal in itself - we did not need (nor were able to have) another meal later in the evening. I also love that the theme changes every month.

Elegant and refined, this is just the place for a casual chat, with drinks and fine cakes on the menu. Very spacious interior is reminiscent of a railway station, which, of course, used to exist in that location long ago.

We had a lovely afternoon tea, celebrating my Mum’s 86th birthday. The staff were fantastic and a special thank you to Iona, who looked after us and made the day even more special. Iona is real natural in delivering excellent service and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much, can’t wait to visit again!

I’ve been to a few afternoon teas in Edinburgh and this was the best in terms of the savouries and the patisserie. The service was also excellent and they made my friends birthday extra special.

This is a great location for a special occasion. Very nice setting, relaxed atmosphere and excellent service. Staff could not have been more helpful. Food was delicious and plentiful, we couldn't eat it all and took some with us. We will definitely recommend this venue and will return next time we are in Edinburgh.

It was lovely, but for a 5 Star hotel and the cost, I was a bit disappointed with the service and was expecting better becuase if the type of hotel. I think I may as wrll have spent a bit less, as you spend a bit more for a yreat and to maybe get treated better? I felt it was quite hard to get the attention of the waiters/waitresses. Very hard fact.

Afternoon tea was delicious. I am celiac and lactose intolerant and they made a delicious afternoon tea for me which looked and tasted as delicious as my wife's normal one. Beautiful surroundings, v attentive professional service. Caitlin our server was excellent knowledgeable and very helpful. Would definitely recommend for afternoon tea but book at least 48 hours in advance if you have dietary requirements

Auf der Bank wo ich sass, waren ganz viele Krümmel von jemandem, der vor mir da sass. Meine Serviette war dreckig. Eine Teesorte war nicht da (ohne, das die Bedienung das wusste); die Sandwiches etwas Ideenlos, Die süssen speisen ok. ( Ausser das mit dem Schimmelkäse) Kann man machen, muss man nicht. Schon sehr viel bessere Tea times all over the world gehabt.

Loved the overall experience mostly due to the incredible service from Iona and the setting in the Peacock Alley. The food was good but not the best high noon tea we have experienced; the scones were a little too dry for our liking as an example. The tea selection is extraordinary and it covers all palette and preferences. You have the option for different coffees but with that tea selection, we stayed true to the concept. A great one time experience (at least for us).

It was okay. Nowhere near the level of an afternoon tea at a Belmond or Red Carnation Hotel. The staff were lovely, but getting their attention was tough. The sandwich course was not really up to standard but the pastries and cakes course was brilliant. Tea selection was excellent too. But, there is none of the finesse you get at other luxury afternoon teas. The live music was lovely. The staff setting up a stage for the evening entertainment right next to the tables, screeching stools across the floor and lugging heavy equipment around guests for almost an hour was not. The cutlery and crockery was not of a particularly high standard, and we had to clean our own seats because they were still covered in crumbs from a previous guest. We just expected a lot more. For context a Red Carnation Hotel or Belmond Hotel afternoon tea is usually about the same price, but they just do so much more, and put so much more effort into it, so this was quite a let down.

We have been here many times before, but this time made our 49th Anniversary very special. Our waitress Sioban was perfect attentive, but unobtrusive and the food was outstanding. We both agreed that it was our best visit ever. Thank you.
