Loved most of the dishes. There were a couple that did not hit home for me but perhaps that's just personal preference.
The "what If Jackson cooked pollock" dish was striking and beautiful, but not packed with as much flavour as the rest. (Maybe by design)
I'm nitpicking here because the whole experience was excellent.
I also thought that the difference in price between the menus and what you get for the more expensive menu felt a bit steep. Saying that, they were really high class dishes so I can understand the price. (I was also aware of what I was walking into when I made the reservation so no complaints there).
I left satisfied and had a really lovely night with great service throughout.
Well done and Thank you!
Amazing food and atmosphere!! The service was great would definitely recommend!!
So glad to have booked this restaurant for our anniversary. Really enjoyed our dining experience from start to end. Wonderful friendly welcome and taken to a great table, although I would have been happy with any of them. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy when we arrived. We decided on the medium tasting menu and it was superb. Was great to have such a knowledgeable team regarding the food and wine. My favourite dish was the chowder. Would definitely recommend. We had such a wonderful afternoon.
Taster menu was excellent. Be careful not to be tempted by the biggest menu as we found the smallest one ample.
Enjoyed a delicious lunch at Peace and Loaf. Outstanding food, a delight for all the senses. Fab service and friendly welcome.
Excellent tasting menu with nice surprises. Presentation great, food was locally produced and delicious. Nice friendly atmosphere. Great Service.
Absolutely excellent! The food was some the best we've ever eaten. Service was professional, friendly and knowledgeable without being stuffy or stilted. Highly recommended. We had the table right next to the door which was the only minor issue, would've much preferred to be further back in the restaurant.
Dinner was fantastic and service was Superb! Such a treat for us dining at this restaurant as we’ve never been able to book a Saturday evening.
An exemplary meal. Creative, witty cooking, prepared with immense care and served with pride. Local ingredients are at the forefront of the kitchen's ethos, with wild and foraged ingredients adding tastes and textures to North-Eastern seafood, game and meat. A solid backbone of classical techniques enlivened with playful, exciting dishes that will live long in the memory. Terrific service, knowledgeable and fun but also extremely professional and attentive. Go for the big menu, and prepare to have your mind blown. A really rather special place.
After hearing such good things from friends and family we were really looking forward to our booking and we were not disappointed.
A last minute issue with trains left us in jeopardy of having to cancel (as we were travelling from around an hour away) however Greg was fantastic and ensured that we were still able to make the most of our booking and make it back to the station in time for the last train home.
We received a lovely warm welcome, all the staff were friendly and attentive. At no point during the evening did we have an empty glass. It can be tricky to balance being attentive whilst not being overbearing but they certainly achieved this.
The food was great! inventive and delicious. I personally don’t have a big appetite so loved being able to try lots of different little dishes. My partner who has a larger appetite was at the same time not left hungry. I also love the fact that the food on the menus is reflective of what seasonal produce is available.
We will 100% be back.
Thank your for a wonderful evening
This is a lovely restaurant with a great atmosphere. It is relaxed and the food is delicious. The staff are all well informed and friendly. All in all a wonderful experience. It would be lovely to see a pescatarian menu, but we will definiteley be back and recommend it to our friends
Lovely experience but I think the right table would enhance it. We were sat right upstairs against the furthest wall where you can’t see anything of the restaurant and the lighting isn’t great for taking photos, or even really seeing the food at its best, especially most things which were served in black or dark bowls. I actually saw my (beautiful!) food better when I later edited my pics!
Service was awesome, and the whole tasting menu was delicious (well except for the bone broth which was tepid and tasted of nothing to me)
I would go back when the tasting menu changes though but probably go for the shorter menu ( we had the middle one and eating for more than two hours was a lot!)
We love the food here, definitely one of our favourite restaurants in the North East. Delicious! The staff are lovely too. Not cheap, but a pleasant experience all round
Fabulous place, food was delicious and the service was outstanding .
Absolute amazing! We went as a special occasion for my partners birthday and it did not disappoint! The food was outstanding and super inventive! Every course was so different with locally sourced ingredients. Superb quality! The atmosphere in the restaurant was so relaxed and it was spotlessly clean. The staff were so kind, helpful and very welcoming. We loved our experience here and will definitely be returning again. We cannot recommend it enough!!
I finally used a voucher I got for my birthday at Peace and Loaf. Everything about the experience was brilliant. First class food and service. Not cheap but worth every penny.
Everything about this establishment is absolute perfection. The food, the wines, the service and the ambience could not be faulted. This has to be one of the best restaurants in the country. If you get the chance to go there, go!
A fantastic restaurant serving an ever changing, innovative menu with superb service to boot and deserving of a Michelin star.
Fabulous food and service......what a great evening!!
I booked a table for my husband’s 40th birthday and it certainly did not disappoint. We have the large menu with the drinks pairing and it was amazing.
The service was great & all the staff were so knowledgeable about the food, where the ingredients came from and the wine was out of this world.
Can’t recommend highly enough.
Unbelievable food and great service. Highly recommended.
Outstanding as always. Staff are brilliant, so friendly, kind and professional. Food was amazing
Had an absolutely fantastic experience at Peace and Loaf yesterday. We went for the medium tasting menu and every single dish was outstanding. The chowder and Lamb Fender were particular highlights for us. My husband also had the wine pairing which he thoroughly enjoyed. The service was exceptional. We were very well looked after without it being overbearing and the servers were all friendly and extremely knowledgeable. We already can’t wait for our next visit!
Absolutely exquisite food start to finish, with exemplary service throughout
We had the middle taster Menu with wine pairing and it was an absolute delight - my wife called it a take on the North East but with fantastic twist - Loved every dish but also have to mention teh service which was simply outstanding and still love the quirky descriptions of the wine - simply top notch and teh quality of the choice was just spot on - Top Michelin standard but at a price you can afford - Love the night and did mention how perfect the service was !!! on a scale of 1 -10 this was 11
We visited the restaurant for my husband’s birthday. We had a fabulous evening, (although neither of us was keen on the bone broth!) and enjoyed the experience of different and unusual flavours we might otherwise not have tried. The blackberry, cloud catcher and clotted cream dessert was my personal favourite- definitely wow! Service was excellent by the well-informed and polite waiters. Thank you for such a treat.
What a fantastic experience. Amazing food and great staff.
Took my wife for her birthday and we had the 15 course tasting menu, AMAZING! My wife is now wanting to go back again and again...
As always, wonderful food and service and very good value. We come here every time we are in the north east and is probably our favourite restaurant in the country.
Have been a few times during the years all ways is amazing and changes menu frequently
Expected a la carte menu bit didn’t realise it had changed to the tasting menu only. First time of doing the tasting menu and surpassed expectations! Definitely do again for special occasions 😀
This was a wonderful experience from the moment we entered the restaurant. We were very sympathetically looked after, eg I needed the meal to slow down a little, it did, but not to long so thought we had been forgotten. There was a lovely, warm ambience and everyone around us looked very happy.
We always visit peace and loaf for special occasions, always opting for the taster menu with wine pairing.
As always, food was amazing, service is always very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable and the overall experience is worth every penny. You can’t put a price on experiences like this.
Beautifully presented, delicious food. Friendly waiters and a relaxed atmosphere. If you regard yourself as a ‘foodie’, a visit to Peace and Loaf is a must!
I can’t wait to go again!
Fantastic food but one of the 15 courses missed but resolved with a free glass of dessert wine. Everything fantastic but didn’t like the miso fudge
I literally could not fault my experience at peace and loaf, from the amazing and friendly staff to the absolutely outstanding food, it was one of of best experiences I have ever had! Thank you again
We had the £65 menu and it was so very very good. Each course was very different and the taste was delicious. The staff were very knowledgeable and extremely charismatic. Could not have spent a better 2 hours anywhere else. So good we are going back next Saturday.
A really professional and warm welcome into the restaurant followed by amazing food, only 3 dishes I wasn’t personally keen on out of the 17(?). Everything cooked and presented exceptionally. Waiters were lovely.
The food was stand out. Every course was something completely different and the wine pairing were amazing.
We have been a few times before and will definitely be going back.
Went for anniversary dinner.
The staff were exceptional. Speedy and polite service. Very knowledgeable about each dish.
The food was absolutely delicious - there were a few courses (out of 15) that weren’t to our tastes.
The dessert courses were a bit of let down. The strawberry tart with white choc mousse was INCREDIBLE.
The fudge was a reminiscent of a smoked cheddar, but the passion fruit sauce on top was delicious!
