Pazzo Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
We were staying in the Hotel Monaco and Pazzo Ristorante is just one block away - an easy walk to even in not-so-friendly weather. The gentleman that helped us was very helpful in our selection as we were traveling out of town and looking for something different. Also, the gentleman, so as all others that we ran into in Oregon, had a very relaxed and laid-back demeanor. We've enjoyed the food and the service.
We chose Pazzo's to celebrate a 50th Anniversary in the family. Booking a table for 12 was easy through OpenTable and, upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to be seated in the private "wine room".
Our waiter Alex was very attentive, gave us enough time to get settled, answered questions and provided excellent service for the remainder of the evening.
The food was outstanding - starting from a very nice caprese salad (in mid October), to the pastas and other entrees. The portions were larger than expected and the flavor was perfect.
The next time we need a large table for an extended gathering - we will definitely consider Pazzo's.
I was traveling to Portland for the weekend and decided to see what Open Table had to offer for the 1000 point tables. My husband and I opted to try Pazzo. We were not disappointed. We ordered: beet salad (with horseradish mascarpone), prosciutto, linguine with clams, and the seasonal risotto. It was all better than expected. I think everyone needs to try the beet salad at the very least. I wish we had room for dessert as I'm sure it would have been just as delectable. It's too bad we don't live in Oregon to get back to this restaurant sooner.
great vibe and great service. Very pretty place. The menu looked good but the food was only so-so. The fish was much better than the steak. Maybe the pasta dishes are better than the meat entrees? I might try them again for lunch but if I want to drop $100 on dinner there are much better options in town.
Never been there before and was definitely worth a try. Bar was very busy, restaurant was very nice, food was good -- was seated at a very nice window table. Food server was friendly and prompt, although she forgot one of our appetizers. Maybe I'm just used to Americanized-Italian restaurants but the menu didn't scream Italian food... We had a great dinner but I will go elsewhere the next time I'm craving Italian food.
The food and drinks were good, service was good, but it was odd that people were bringing their young children and babies to a fine-dining restaurant and forgetting that maybe others around them were trying to have a special dinner. The clanking of the spoon on a plate over and over and over was about ready to send me over my edge of sanity. We ate quickly and left as soon as possible.
The server was very knowledgable about gluten-free restrictions and was able to offer minor modifications to their dishes to accommodate our needs. The restaurant keeps GF pasta on hand that was quite good! The wine list was great and the server was able to recommend a wine that matched our food and was even willing to bring a taste over before we ordered a full bottle.
I would highly recommend Pazzo. If you're GF, just mention it in your reservation and they'll be ready for you!
Took my daughter for her 35th birthday along with her husband, brother and my wife. Service was fast and friendly, the food was lovingly prepared, the wine list was one of the largest I've ever seen, and the baked-onsite bread was so good we bought three loaves to take home. It's been several years since we visited since we live 90 miles away, but we won't wait nearly so long next time. We had a delightful evening.
Always a great experience. Service from the time you walk in the door to when you leave was spot on. Server made appropriate and thoughtful suggestions on the food and drink. When my drink was not to my liking they took it away and gave me another one. I had a shrimp risotto which was perfectly al dente, succulent shrimp not overcooked to rubber, and sweet corn which tasted like it had just been picked. My friend had ravioli which again was perfectly al dente and very flavorful. Both of us ended up having lemon drop cocktails which were perfectly made. I have had many wonderful glasses of wine here in the past with great recommendations from the wait staff. I don't think I have every had bad food here either. Loved it as usual!
We had group of 8, all out of towners in Portand for hiking and shopping. The restaurant was busy but despite that the service was excellent! They were even able to accommodate our need for separate checks. However, the BEST part was the food! We all something different and the entire table of 8 talkative people was silent as we devoured everything from ravioli to short ribs. One person exclaimed that these were the best short ribs she had ever eaten. Salads were crisp, varied and lightly dressed. Bread was warm, fragrant and GONE quickly, with more baskets served as we emptied them. We left feeling this was a restaurant we will return to again.
We had a 6 pm reservation but asked if we could have a drink in the bar first- no problem. We stayed in the bar area until 6:30 and that was not an issue, seated without a problem. Our server Michelle was energetic and very helpful. The food is good solid Italian fare. I would like more choice of salads. Overall,it was a very pleasant evening and we will return next time in Portland.
Upon arriving they sat us at a small table against the wall in a busy isle I'm big at not being seated in a traffic area so we immediately asked to be moved to a booth since there were open booths. Without hesitation they moved us with a smile. We sat down happy to be in a booth and quickly noticed the infant cry and the two year old whining from across the way. We looked at each other as we do in these situations and without hesitation got up and began to leave. To our surprize the waitress stopped us on the way to the door and asked If she could assist. They happily seated us in a quiet location, the food was amazing and the staff treated us wonderfully. Not always the case when your the boomer couple sharing entries! Great time.
Have been dining at Pazzo's when in Portland over the course of many years. Always love it. Have many happy memories of good times and good food/wine at Pazzo's. Convenient downtown location. Good place to bring guests or for special occasions. Have had a few memorable parties there.
I had eaten at Pazzo a couple of years ago and very much liked the food. I was unpleasantly surprised at how bad the quality of cooking had become. The bruschetta was mediocre at best. The cioppino was terribly bland, tasting of plain canned tomato sauce, and no amount of salt and pepper could make it palatable. One of my guests and I hardly took more than a few bites and left it.
I am incredibly disappointed and embarrassed to have taken my out of town guests here.
(Dinner reservation at 6pm Friday August 3 for 3 persons)
We visited from Ottawa, Canada for two nights and picked this place based on hotel distance, OT suggestion and reviews. We were not disappointed and thoroughly enjoyed the cheese plate appetizer, lamb gnocchi and papparadelle with meat sauce. Reasonable prices for a most delicious meal and great service. A must try!
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Downtown Portland! The food is always excellent and the service is superb. I had my college graduation dinner here back in 2005 and everything was great then as well. I will definitely continue to return to Pazzo Ristorante for a great Italian meal whenever I'm in Portland!
Love, Love, Love Pazzo!! :-)
