New Years Eve. Yes I know they were very busy but after having a 9:15 reservation we were not seated until 9:45. We received our first appetizer at 10:30 and believe it or not received our dessert at nearly 1am. No effort to make right with a comp of some sort.. not even a drink? Disappointed to say the least..
This was our first time at this restaurant. We love Italian food and wanted to spend our New Years Eve here. However, this restaurant was highly unorganized. They were serving a 5 course meal to everyone. It looked great on paper but the execution was very poor. After 2 hours we had only been served 2 of our courses and one we sent back because it just was not good. We were not the only ones unhappy. We ended up paying and leaving even though we did not get served all of our meal. It was a disappointment and because of this I cannot recommend this restaurant.
We were so disappointed in our NYE experience at Pazzo. We were seated at around 9:30pm, an hour after our reservation. By 11:30 we had only received three of the five courses, and ended up leaving as we did not want to be sitting at our table right off of the kitchen (which was surrounded by waiters in chaos) to ring in the New Year. After we were seated, we ordered a bottle of wine which did not arrive to the table until about 10:00pm and only after the waitress came by and asked us again if we were interested in anything to drink. She apologized for forgetting and said that they were way behind, but that our wine and food should be out shortly. Nothing came out shortly, and she came back by our table twice before we eventually gave up at 11:30 and said that things were a mess and asked us what we wanted to do. All of the employees that we interacted with were very nice, but unfortunately there was some type of huge organizational issue that night that put a damper on NYE for a lot of their customers.
Disappointed. It took 1.5 HOURS to receive bread and water. It took another 40min to receive our first course which as soup. This is complexity unacceptable. I asked to speak with the manager. They said the mgr. would be with us soon but never bothered to come over. They gave us the bread for free and we payed for our drinks a left starving and everywhere else was booked because of NYE. Thank you for ruining our special NYE dinner with friends. Worst service, food (soup), and just awful. These people just don’t care. We feel humiliated. Not sure if it’s because we are an interracial couple, but it is very strange to wait 1.5 hours for bread. Yes, we actually timed it. Very sad.

WE CELEBRATED NEW YEARS EVE BY HAVING THE PREFIX MENU FOR DINNER. IT WAS $65 PER PERSON. PORTION SIZES WERE LARGE. THE FOOD WAS OK BUT I HAVE HAD BETTER. FOR THE PRICE I WOULD NOT DO IT AGAIN.
The service was a little slow, but other than that the total experience was amazing as always!!
Everything was great - location, food/drinks, waiters/waitress, bussers but the hostess we encountered. Absolutely rude. Discrimination.
Server was very attentive, even though she had another very large group. Also, another server pitched in when she was occupied at another table.
Food was great .... other than the winter greens - frisee and Arugula?? Yuk
I am sad to rate with only three stars. We have been going to Pazzo for our family Christmas dinner for years and finally have to admit the steady decline in food and service. Our waitress seem to forget about us and had to be waived down for service. The apps were good (goat cheese yes!, and the butcher board, but the calamari was undercooked). Our two pasta dishes were ok (gnocchi and fusilli) and the two mains were not (boar ragut and skirt steak). I wanted a glass of red but our waitress wasn’t even in waiving distance after the manager served our food.
Loved the food but it took 45 minutes to have the meal served after it was ordered.

We love sitting at the bar seats in front of the chefs. Very busy night so lots of dinners being prepared. Definitely our favorite spot in the restaurant. The service was very good. We ordered papardelle and truffle risotto. The papardelle was excellent but the risotto was bland.
We had a terrific time. Excellent food, great service and reasonable prices.

We’ve been going to Pazzo’s for 10 years, and it’s a go-to favorite every time we’re in Portland. Took a group of 9 business associates recently, and everyone loved it. Great service and even better food. Cozy ambiance. Highly recommend. I understand they’re currently undergoing a full remodel and menu change. We’re looking forward to trying their reinvention this Spring.
The cocktail was good. The service was good. The entree was bad. The calamari had no flavor. The roasted mushroom pasta was slimey and the mushrooms were chewy. I didn’t taste the scallop risotto but my date said it was bad.
You can always count on Pazzo for a nice experience and well prepared food. The staff is knowledgeable and professional.
We made reservations for 8 and were seated quickly. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was delicious.

We loved Pazzo! It was the perfect choice for our small group’s (5 people) dinner. We were looking for a place to spend the evening with our son and a couple friends before our son embarked on a year long out of country adventure. Pazzo fit the bill. We actually arrived a half an hour early for our reservation and they already had our table set and waiting for us. Service was prompt, friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent. We all loved everything we tasted. We never felt rushed and we were able to comfortably linger with our son. Our waitress even treated our table to a complementary serving of gelato to share. We will definitely be returning to Pazzo when we are in Portland.
Old time gem with great food and attentive service.
I hadn’t been here in 3 years, however, my family (who lives in Portland) and I have been coming to Pazzo for over 20 years. This place signified countless birthday dinners, birth announcements, holiday dinners etc. Several years ago they reno-ed the bar—a HORRENDOUS move. It was a great bar and they absolutely ruined it turning it into TGI Friday-esque environment. The restaurant, however, remained untouched with excellent food, a fabulous wine selection and an elevated cozy atmosphere. All that is now gone. This place is a sorry excuse for an Olive Garden. I was beyond appalled and I had brought two very high profile clients. Pazzo used to be pretty flawless for over two decades. We were all mortified—from the service to food EVERYTHING was wretched. I am frankly still still in shock at how horrible this experience was. I haven’t lived in Portland for a long time and now I feel really bad for everyone who does. For the record, I ordered the special which was beet and chevre rissoto. Wholly inedible—not even close to cooked properly and it just could not have been more bland.
Pazzo has been a reliable downtown dinner option for years. We were very lucky to win a gift certificate at a charity event. Our meal this weekend started with very nicely prepared calamari, though the aioli was not spicy as advertised, still fine. Our server made sure we tasted the wines we were considering, which helped assure a pleasureable wine experience.
My pappardelle was overly salty that rendered it virtually inedible. On the other hand, my wife’s wild boar was delicious. All in all, a mixed bag this visit.
My fiance and I came in to celebrate reserving our wedding date, which will be held at the Hotel Vintage Portland and catered by Pazzo.
As always, we had a wonderful meal, excellent service, and even ran into another couple we have not seen in quite a while.
Pazzo is a gem and is one of the first places we ever went together as friends and it has a lot of meaning for us as does the Vintage for me, being my home away from home at the front desk for several years.
If you have not been, you really ought to go!
The food & service was great. The fare is more towards Northern Italian, but you can find a variety of dishes that are as common to what you might like as Italian to as different from the usual.
Food and service both top notch. Everyone in our party had something different, all raved without exception. I had the wild boar cooked with Barolo, simply awesome.Cheers

Good local restaurant in the Portland town center. It is associated with the Kimpton Vintage Hotel. The menu offers a good variety and it offers breakfast, lunch and dinner fares.
Never disappoints! Nice newer menu, good options. The Cozze (razor clams) were wonderful and almost more than one person could eat for an appetizer; we could have shared. Best Caesar salad I have had an ages. Excellent service but that's usual there. In-house made Gelato was ooh...very good.
Excellent meal. The spaghetti with shrimp and spicy tomato anchovy sauce was exquisite, and the calamari were fresh and tasty. Very friendly wait person helped us.
Just what we needed! Our waiter was fantastic - as was all of the staff we encountered. Seated us at a window table and checked in regularly. He even suggested an option for dinner that was perfect and not on the menu. Very accommodating and offered with a smile. The food and wine were excellent. We will be back!
