Pazzo! Italian Cafe Ratings and Reviews
First time at Pazzo and very pleased. We were able to partake in Restaurant week, which added to value of our meal. But food was delicious-- i had the vegetable lasagna-- all layers of vegetables, no noodles. Delicious. Other guests had pork chop ( very large portion and tasty) and vodka rigatoni with chicken. We had great service and lovely presentation of food. I think during season would be very noisy, but mid week December it was very quiet and relaxing.
When we arrived at 5:30, there were only a few tables filled but we sat in a cramped corner but luckily our 4th person did not show and we were able to fit without bumping into the individual sitting at the table next to us. When I asked about the Wine and Dine menu (2 entrees and a bottle of wine for $14.90 until 6pm) listed on their MENU on OpenTable, it was unavailable due to it ends at 5:30pm and orders must be in by 5:15pm (they should stop advertising it until 6pm on the MENU, although it is listed in two areas on the OpenTable app with two different times when it is available, we did not notice the earlier ending time of 5:30pm). Instead we opted for the 3 course meal and selected an entree that had a side dish change however, the menu was not updated. Although there are no substitutions, the server requested to the chef to prepare as written and they agreed. Also, there are two desserts to select from and only one was available when we ordered due to the other was sold out. Ugh, no chocolate options...it was 6:30pm and selections were already unavailable when it was early in the evening and the busy dinner crowd had not arrived yet. We did not complain, 2 of us enjoyed the dessert available. Overall, our server was perfect, everyone was polite and welcoming, the food was good, and we had theater tickets...no need to ruin the night over dinner expectations that were not available.
Visiting family in Naples, we decided to try Pazzo! for Naples restaurant week. The food was okay; the pasta was over cooked and the presentation was poor. They were out of an appetizer, and, by the time was got to dessert, almost everything on the menu (we arrived at 6:45). It was a long wait between courses. After changing our choices 3x to accommodate their lack of planning, a piece of tiramisu and a piece of white cake were thrown into boxes and onto our table, with a promise that the chef was scraping together some gelato with what was left. The waitress, toughing through unhappy customers all around us, said she had finally convinced the chef to allow substitutions as a consolation. At that point we just got the check. It would've been nice to see some discount after the long wait, lack of options, and gruff service. If we had known the menu was so limited, we would have gone somewhere else. I don't think we'll be back.
This is like the 3rd time we have given this place a try the dishes are loaded with overwhelming amounts of garlic .
Being Italian we like garlic but at reasonable amounts . Knowing our past experiences We asked for light garlic and are told no worries and all 3 times we leave reeking with garlic and having to taste our dinner 3 days later because of this disgusting amount of garlic .
After 3 tries we will not be back because wait staff ignores requests and the kitchen can’t control amounts of garlic .
Pazzo's used to be one of our favorites....BUT in the last few years it has been such a disappointment! On a Sunday evening we decided to try again...the restaurant was about a third full...But they had us and all other tables right on top of each other...seemed very odd! We also couldn't help watch the LOUD waitress yell orders to the cooking staff. The restaurant has a musty smell, the decor is worn and tired...There are so many other wonderful Italian restaurants in Naples...try one of them
My wife had 6 friends visiting from Canada and we had enjoyed a nice dinner there a few weeks ago so we booked another visit. The waiter was horrible and rude. Never mentioned his name. Can't remember the last time we didn't tip but this time he definitely did not deserve one. Too bad that a good restaurant has the experience soured by a bad waiter.
We've eaten here many times, this time for the Restaurant Week menu. The portions were plentiful, with a sizeable appetizer, entre, and dessert. We took enough of the entre home for at least one more meal each. Service was friendly, but slightly inattentive to refilling water, but not enough to be bothered by it.
The 2 for $22 was worth it as was the wine. We have been going there for 15 years. It is always
fun. However, while 3 out of the 4 meals were good, mine was lame. It was not bad, but the bolognese sauce was not up to their standard sauce. It was watery. I have ordered that dish for
years so I can comment about it. To their credit, the manager was accommodating. We will be
This restaurant is owned by the same people that own Chop House (next door) and Yabba (further down 5th Ave). There are several interesting similarities:
1. The Maitre d’s at both Yabba and Pazzo have an attitude. Last night at Pazzo we showed up at 5:40 for a 6pm reservation and, despite the restaurant being empty were told we could not be seated until our reservation time. We were directed (dismissed would be more like it) to the bar. We have experienced the exact same policy (and treatment) at Yabba.
2. My wife was told she could not have her salmon rare. Restaurant policy. Really? It came medium and for her over cooked.
3. The menu offers a “bottomless” glass of wine for $9.95. After our entrees came no one came, ever, to check on us or even once offer to refill my glass. At the end of the meal, when the waitress came back (finally) to see if we wanted dessert, I️ asked her to take the wine off our bill. To the restaurant’s credit they did.
The food is quite good and the ambiance nice but like Yabba the service and snooty attitude will likely keep us from returning
