About Pazzaluna Urban Italian Restaurant & Bar

In Italy, every meal is a journey… the same is true at Pazzaluna. Everything was great, only downside was we were there for a business meal and right by the kitchen so it was rather loud.

We went to Pazzaluna for Valentine's Day--my husband loves Italian food. Our server was very attentive and helpful. The food was very good and we had a wonderful bottle of wine. There were specials for Valentine's Day, but we ordered off the menu. The only problem was that I ate too much! But that's not their fault! We'd definitely go again.

I have eaten here several times, mostly for date nights with hubby, but recently for pre-Valentine's dinner with our family of 4, including two school-age sons.

The atmosphere and service are always excellent. Dining here always feels like something special. The food is consistently very good to excellent with creative takes on Italian standards.

Very worthwhile fine-dining experience.

Not a good experience.
Negatives: Our reservation was not held, we had to wait and were given a table by the door with constant cold air blasts from the outside. Hostesses (all 4!?) were rude. Our water and bread server threw the plate on our table rather than place. Our entrees were cold, salty, and not much flavor. Chain resturaunt do better than this. Rude awakening on gift card - we had 3 and were informed we could only use 1. This wasn’t told to us during purchase of said gift cards.proces were outrageous for the quality ($30 and up!)

Positives: one of our wines was nice, our waitress was pleasant.

Total disappointment. Five people crammed into a booth near a loud kitchen. Food was marginal at best. I've never had al dente ravioli - pasta was dry and edges were over-baked. Chicken Piccata included several tiny medallions swimming in white cream sauce. Good sauce but overkill and barely any meat. The opposite held true for the spaghetti and meatballs. Beef tasted livery and there was no gravy consistency to the sauce - just chopped chunks of tomato that seemed to come from a can. The best part of the meal was the wine, the bread, the crème brulee, and our server. Won't go back.

Service was good, but we were all very disappointed with our food. The pasta was starchy and dry. The sauce could hardly moisten the pasta enough to separate it. I was surprised that the tomatoes looked like they were from a can. I expected fresh.
I’ve had better Italian at Chianti Grill

Food was mediocre at best. Chicken Piccata has 3 tiny pieces of chicken over a blob of risotto and was not hot. The pizza margarita had very little cheese on it and the bottom of the pie was burned.

The restaurant was much too noisy which was disappointing as we were taking friends to dinner to celebrate a retirement and it was difficult to hear over the loud voices of other guests. The meal was delicious, but we didn't linger long askkk

Good bread, nice variety in the menu. A few items we ordered were not cooked as they should have been (pizza a little burnt, lasagna burnt a bit on the outside of the crock, brussel sprouts not seared well in the brussel sprout and beer hash side item). However, food was generally very flavorful otherwise. Desserts (bananas foster cheesecake and chocolate gelato) were excellent.

Our reservation was at 8:30, we arrrived at 8:22 and unfortunelty didn’t get seated until 9:20. Staff was apologetic and comped a couple bottles of wine for the Group but the wait was beyond reasonable.
Once we were seated staff, food etc. was excellent.

A very disappointing experience. With my family, we've often chosen Pazzaluna as a place for special occasion dinners, with excellent food and memorable service. Not this time. Our server, a young lady who indicated she was new on the job, did try her best, but didn't seem to know how to coordinate the serving of drinks and food. I've enjoyed the attention of experienced, mature waiters here before, but saw none; did you overhaul your staff? If so, you lost a lot of talent. My partner ordered minestrone, but what he got was a lukewarm, watery/brothy mix. I have loved the Caesar salads here in the past, but instead got a plate of a few random leaves of lettuce with a sad dribbling of dressing. I'd enjoyed linguine with clams here in the past, and my partner also wanted to order them - then we noticed it's no longer on the menu. Since you serve a linguine with seafood dish -- including clams -- we asked if the kitchen could simply make linguine with clams. Our server seemed to think so, but soon returned from the kitchen and said that, no, they couldn't do that. Huh?? You just take the clams, leave out the other seafood.... oh, never mind. Amateurish and unresponsive overall, for a rather ordinary dinner. Not a special occasion place anymore - I doubt I'll be back.

The restaurant was very very busy but the employees were exceptionally accommodating to ease the wait. My carbonara was simply awesome! My husbands seafood linguini was just ok and slightly overpriced. My sons fettuccine Alfredo was good. All in all a nice place for a special meal.

My husband and I took our daughter and her friend to Pazzaluna before going to the Ordway. The food was delicious, the service exemplary, and the ambience elegant. I had the beef brisket risotto, and it was the kind of dish that you dream of for days. The meat seemed to melt in my mouth, the risotto done to perfection, with a savory sauce that elevated the flavors nicely. The arugula salad was fresh and tangy. My husband loved the fettucini alfredo with shrimp. The other dishes at the table were short rib lasagna and one of the gnocchis. Everyone ate with gusto. Espresso after dinner was just right, but I'd love to try the tiramisu in the future. I expected it to be pricey, and the check was over $230 for the four of us.

One thing they did, which I wish they had not, is they seated us awkwardly. We had reservations for 5:45 on a Tuesday and I had requested a booth. There were plenty of open tables/booths when we arrived. The host greeted us enthusiastically, but when the hostess seated us she walked us past many open booths in the center of the restaurant and seated us at a one that was next to the kitchen and across from an open sink. As a former restaurant manager, I always instructed my hosts to seat people in the very best seat available at the time they arrive and never try to pass off less desirable tables to someone because they seem unlikely to complain. Of course, once you are full, every table becomes desirable.

We had a great time, and the table was not a big detraction, but it never feels good to a guest to suppose that the best tables are being saved for the more discerning.

The food was just OK. The olive spread was good, but the presentation made it look like cat food slapped on a plate. We were brought out entrees before our salads. Our server adjusted the bill and comped our dessert, so there’s that positive. It seemed disorganized and our server was too busy with large tables to pay us much attention. He didn’t know we didn’t get our salads until we told him after seeing our bill. This was a busy time because of an event, but these were just a lot of little things that added up to dissatisfaction.

My guest and I both had a wonderful experience at Pazzaluna. The ambiance and service were lovely, and the food was simply terrific. We had thoroughly satisfying meals accompanied by a glass of wine each, and split a dessert, for a total of $75. Excellent value.

Was there for my 59th birthday with my wife. My peach old fashioned cocktail was really quite good. Their complimentary bread and tapenade are outstanding. Had the four course prix fixe, including swordfish as my main course. Very good, although the first course bean soup was bland. At $50, (skipped the wine pairings at $70) this good value made this extravagant evening less so. I'd rate the service outstanding (I didn't care for the glass of wine I'd ordered and it was quickly replaced and I was made to feel they were happy to do so); the atmosphere excellent; and the food very good. I've eaten in the bar previously, which is more fun and possibly an even better value (good menu there too), but often crowded and even better for people-watching.
