Pazzaluna Urban Italian Restaurant & Bar
The award-winning and critically acclaimed Bar at Pazzaluna Urban Italian is an energetic and fun place to meet after work, before an event at the Ordway, Xcel Energy Center, Roy Wilkins Auditorium or just to unwind with family, friends, clients or business associates.
During warm weather, relax on the patio and enjoy the sights and sounds of downtown St. Paul (patio open May through September). See for yourself, you'll be glad you did.
I'd like to give 1 1/2 stars, because the service was decent, but the food was overpriced and tasteless.
I mean, all three meals had no flavor.
For the money I paid, I expect tasty food, and was disappointed.
The accoustics are poor, it was very noisy, and hard to hear my dining mates.
Snotty bartenders, awful wait staff, food cold and never did did get the “special occasion” treatment. SO disappointed in everything!
Too loud!! Even after changing tables.
Chicken piccata was so so.
Excellent as always!
A pleasant dining experience. The service was superb. I'll definitely be back!
Had a lovely meal including selections from the antipasti bar, scallops over risotto, and a glass of wine. Thanks, Pazzaluna for a very nice evening and meal.
We always feel welcome at Pazzaluna. The services is timely and efficient and the staff knows the menu well. We especially like the three-meat cannelloni. The desserts are always first-rate as well. They are very considerate of your curtain time f you are going to the theater.
I thought this place was lovely... great setting. Fun downtown glam! Great food and drinks.
It was a lovely dinner; nice celebration for my birthday! Thank you so much
As always food and service were outstanding. I always enjoy eating here.
Food was delicious, and the service was great. We enjoyed the rabbit pappardelle and the gnocchi for entrees and both came out amazing. They were even willing to swap out one of the standard desserts for a special order to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday. Will definitely return in the future.
I’m disappointed that you no longer offer scallops as an appetizer. Also the pappardelle pasta use to be homemade. Those were two reasons we kept coming back. You have the best bread in town!
Gnocchi in brown butter sauce was too big of dumplings, so the middle was doughy, in a pool of butter so large it was like the world's greasiest soup. Crab cakes we're good and other diner's dishes looked good, this dish was disappointing
I haven't eaten here in years, and was very impressed. Everything about it was outstanding!. We will definitely return.
Food was great we had a reservation showed up 15 mi utes early and we instantly got sat down. Service was a bit slow but All in all it was very good food and got what we wanted out of it
Beet salad was excellent, apple dessert was pretty good, but the red sauce on the spaghetti had the consistency and flavor of tomato juice, and meatball had minimal flavor. Service was friendly, but really slow.
Waitress kept forgetting things. It was slow not an excuse. She was kind of put together sloppy. Food was good. Portions were smaller then expected
It was a beautiful dinner. Our server was polite and attentive. I was able to make changes to an entree to fit my needs. The Walleye is amazing and yes, get the extra bread. You will want it when you get home.
This is our second visit to the restaurant. The service has been a distraction on both occasions, although the food is good enough to warrant a return visit. The issue with the service is that it is inconsistent and doesn't match the price. The plates are not cleared before the next course arrives and the wait staff and support personnel generally seem to suffer from either poor training, supervision or both.
I was glad we had reserved in advance because restaurant was full Friday night. We ordered fish and lamb, and both were delicious. They had good selection for gluten free foods and gluten free tested great.
Very nice atmosphere with delicious food. It would be great to return!
I called in advance to change the time of our reservation. The person I spoke with was enthusiastic and changed our arrival time without hesitation. The waitstaff (especially Alec) was helpful, patient and accommodating. We have never had a bad experience at Pazzaluna!
Food was definitely not what we expected. It seemed everything came out of a can. The shrimp was chewy and flavourless. Service was lacking also. I hate to give a bad review but I have to be honest.
Best restaurant in the Twin Cities. Curtis is simply the best, a real treasure
Me and my boyfriend went to Pazzaluna for a birthday dinner! It was a really lovely night. Great food, great service, and friendly staff!
Great location, wonderful food and prompt service.
Overall fine but nothing worth coming back for anytime soon. The wine was sub par, the food was average overall, some nice sauces but all of us thought our meat was over cooked and the risotto was underdone on two dishes. The dessert was nice but then again it’s just gelato.
We wanted to try different restaurants during restaurant week. Overall, we felt that the food was less then good. We had a reservation and we sat 20 minutes past the time of our reservation. The food was something we could have bought at Cub foods and made it ourselves. After we ate we thought we would just have a drink at their bar. Sadly they miscalculated are bar bill and we knew that the bartenders were playing us. We are never ones to complain but this made us very sad. We won’t be going back.....
Wife’s birthday at her favorite Resturant.
Our waitress was fabulous! The food was delicious!
We ate here before a show at Xcel which we noted in the reservation and they were great about seating us promptly when we arrived and keeping the meal moving without feeling rushed. Service was excellent, very personable and polite. The food was not good at all though, only ordered the mussels and bruschetta as apps intending to order more later but the bread and apps were so bad that we decided to just finish our wine and head to the concert early. Disappointing meal, but would come again for wine before an event at the Xcel.
It was our first time at Pazzaluna and just wanted something light to eat before a show at Excel Energy Center. We ordered two appetizers. However, our ticket was "lost ", so we had to wait extra time. Our server made it right, and brought us a plate of various items to hold us over.
We will definitely be back though!
Great baked penne special with a gimlet that is strong enough to forget one’s worries. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Well, I booked this as a birthday celebration for myself with friends before an event at Ordway at 7:30. I ended up not even getting much to eat at all. We all ordered the pre fixe dinner. It took a very long time to get our first course. I had the caesar salad and it was ok, but not great. Then, after a very long wait - we arrived at the table at 5:45 and did not get our entree until after 6:30 - we got our entrees. I had the brisket and risotto. My brisket was all fat. I tried to cut away the fat, but it was really all fat. So, I sent it back and requested the chicken piccata. I didn't get that until 7 after the rest of the party had finished their entrees and were ready for dessert. So, I said forget it. They removed my meal from our bill. I left unhappy and hungry. I don't think we will go back there again.
Always great food and service. Our server was fantastic and we all loved our meals. The only criticism I have for the evening is that we were seated at the booth in the main dining area that is closest to the kitchen. There is a little half-wall between and it was used by servers for water pitchers, Parmesan, and other items they would use at multiple tables. While most of the servers (including ours) were careful about using those items, one server repeatedly banged things around and came very close to my companion's head reaching for things. I understand the convenience of having the items there, but then all of the servers need to be cognizant of the guests sitting in that booth.
Came to Pazzaluna for our anniversary again this year. The service was rushed again and just not on for a nice dinner out. Our server didn't discuss any of the features or walk us through anything on the menu. They also didn't acknowledge the special dinner, but not expected at a mid-level spot like this. I asked if they were participating in restaurant week as there was no signage or menu and then our server brought a separate menu. We didn't order off it, but was still odd to not discuss.
The food was just average with the brisket risotto overly sauced, fatty tough brisket, and risotto not done. We also had a wrong entree brought out and had that fixed. Overall the food is usually pretty good if you stick to their classics. I think the staff rotates a lot and this was a Monday night. The pace and everything just seemed a little off, but it was still a nice evening. 2 adults with dinner and drinks was about $100. I think the bar area here might be a better fit next time. The main dining room is a bit hectic and pretty loud despite the tall ceilings. Still a worthwhile place to check out if you haven't.
From the host’s welcome and remembering my name to the great recommendations for nondairy options from the server, we had excellent service and the food was divine. Will definitely come back!
Have dinner at Pazzaluna before every concert/event in DT St Paul- this time was disappointing. Had a different server every time one came to the table and the food took forever. The main course was dropped off without the needed utensils.
At this price point, I expect quality food & service.
There were a lot of larger groups who were very loud and celebrating, and my husband and I wanted a more intimate and romantic dinner. The food did not disappoint, but we wish it had a better ambiance. We paid a lot of money to have good food yes, but to feel like we were in a dorm room dining hall? It will be a while before we go back.
Great guest service from the beginning and a very engaging and attentive server named Cutis. I had the Caprese Salad and the Red Snapper special which were both delicious and wonderfully seasoned.
