Afternoon Tea
Located on the second floor, its soaring ceiling and
marvelous views of the city make Pavilion an elegant space to unwind and converse with a glowing fireplace and grand piano as a backdrop. Pavilion is home to an Afternoon with Wedgwood, a traditional tea service that first debuted at The Langham, London in 1865. An afternoon with Wedgwood includes proprietary Langham teas and an array of sweet and savory bites. All are served with traditional displays and flourish. Expect local talented pianists or harpists during weekend afternoon tea.

I've been to the Drake and the Allis hotels for afternoon brunch. The Langham has the best ambiance but is the priciest and they do not offer refills or more food. The Drake had the same level of service and food but always asked if we wanted more food, which was a plus. It was a great first time experience though.

It wasn’t traditional afternoon tea...I don’t think they use tea bags in England or India & no cozy to keep the pot warm. Food was just ok....stick to what high tea is suppose to be.

The seating area was very beautiful, live piano music was nice, but a little too loud for conversation at times. Food was good with the exception of slightly burnt toasted bread for the savory course. The portions were a nice size. You will not leave hungry. Service was excellent and the staff was very attentive. This is a good place to celebrate a special occasion.

We went to celebrate a retirement and it was amazing. Incredible service from start to finish. They treated us to a glass of champagne to start off and made the whole experience very special. It was exactly what we wanted. Food and tea excellent as always. Thank you to the langham for a great experience.

There was a wedding and the pictures taking place in the lobby were not befitting the hotel and the tea area. [think barn dance type behavior rather than a fun wedding]. The pictures also went on for an hour.

The restaurant service was ok - Penninsula gives extra pastries to take home. Our water became cold in our tea pots and we had to ask for additional hot water.

New cutlery was not brought between courses. Overall not a special experience just an ok one. There are too many places in the city offering special tea experiences to go back.

A classic, lovely tea. A bit pricey but my sister and I wanted to go for it. The scones were over the top delicious with clotted cream, lemon curd and strawberry jam. The rest was exotically conceived and yummy so I don't think I can describe it better than that. Worth checking out if you are in to teas.

We had afternoon tea here. We have been to many other places in Chicago but wanted to try here. It was so noisy, we couldn’t hear the harpist. The food was very bland and for $70 per person, I expected something much better. Will probably not come back. The service was outstanding- they can’t help if the food was terrible. Peninsula, the drake and Russian tea have MUCH better food. Sorry!

I personally prefer a more traditional afternoon tea to the fancy, gourmet sandwiches featuring octopus, tofu, etc. Service was perfect, tho, and tea was quite good. Noise level was loud at my table because of a loud talker at the next table - I could hear absolutely every word she spoke!

Had tea here with my eight year old daughter and it was a five star experience without a doubt!! The server took excellent care of us, the sandwiches, scones and pastries were absolutely perfect, and the tea selection was impeccable. I would recommend this for anyone looking to have a special tea experience.

The pavilion is beautiful, but it’s not worth the $75 for tea. The food was okay, and you’re only allowed what’s given to you. Other places that host tea time are much more reasonable price wise and give you unlimited food and tea.

I like that place and have been there a few times. My last visit was not quite to the standards of Langham, while ambiance and surrounding is spotless the food should have been improved. Tea Time sandwiches looked like there was standing open for very long time, the freshness of it was questionable. If i go to place and expect to pay, I am expecting fresh food and not prep night before. Overall, I like the place but would think twice to go again for Tea Time.

Valentines Day tea was unacceptable. Ordered a salad as well as full tea and the grilled chicken that was ordered for the salad arrived 20 minutes after the salad. The waiter stated he would take it off of the bill. Usually the service at the Langham is top notch. This was bottom of the barrel

We were very excited about Tea at the Langham. And we were very disappointed. Mostly in the service. We were very much ignored, and when we asked a quesiton about getting an extra sandwich we were scolded. We had to get up and get our own water. And flag down a wait person to get some more hot water. I had to go through cabinets to find where they hung my coat. The worst part is that I asked to have a manager call me, I left my phone number and 5 days later no one has called.

Hostess said “We’re not serving yet...I’m opening the doors at 1.” *It was literally 12:59* we had come down the hallway not noticing the gates/doors that opened to hotel reception.
-Instead-
How about “Welcome to the Langham Pavillion! Have you been here before? What’s the name on the reservation? May i take your coats?” or anything MORE welcoming!!!
That would’ve occupied us for the 60 seconds.

I asked for the table by the fireplace. Hostess response “that table is reserved”. You know who else had a reservation?! ME. And I was there first. I asked for that table because of the fireplace but ALSO because there was a HUGE loud birthday party in the center of the room.

(I saw later that the table I requested was occupied by a woman with two children.)🙄

The food was average for a $80 Tea.

HOWEVER, Paul, our waiter was fabulous. He almost made up for the other treatment...

This tea experience was nothing short of lovely. The space looked exactly like the pictures. Every staff member we spoke to was more than gracious and willing to assist my mother and me. The service truly had all the flourishes, the food and tea was delicious, and the attention to detail, from tea temperature to place settings, was superb. We will definitely return to The Pavilion for tea soon.

My friends wanted to go for high tea for Christmas. I had been to your restaurant last year for Xmas brunch which was outstanding. However the high tea was extremely disappointing. First we were give 4 tiny petit four sandwiches. Next course was 2 scones- which were not good. And last course 2 tiny dessert petit fours and 2 cookies. For $110 with tax and tip- I think that is terrible!

Additionally there was no music and tables were not even set with table cloths.

You have a beautiful restaurant, with incredible service and I have experienced before wonderful food. So the capability is available. It was not evident for high tea. And I would not recommend.

Just had high tea yesterday with girlfriends at the Pavilion. I have come to the conclusion that there are no great high teas in Chicago. Most recently I’ve tried the Drake, Virgin Hotel and the Penninsula. My benchmark is the High Tea at the Pierre in NYC. Here’s my review of the Langham high tea: very good assortment of food courses ( kudos to the chef), good tea menu. The decorations were nice. Champagne is a nice touch.
Areas for improvement are the ambiance, no music, white table clothes should be on the wooden tables, there should be some type of music. Flowers on the table would be a nice touch. It is the priciest high tea in chicago.
