Ideally located in the heart of Chicago's North Shore, whether you're enjoying a business lunch or dinner with friends and family at Pavilion Restaurant you're assured the utmost in food, service and ambiance, as well as a unique fine dining experience.
We really enjoyed the food. Service was excellent. Super quiet, which is really nice (and hard to find these days). Would definitely go back.
We went on a Friday night at 630 and there was two other tables occupied and a party next door. When we arrived, Oleg took 5 minutes to greet us at the door and then promptly seated us and brought menus. 10 minutes later he took our order and when we asked questions about the menu he seemed more annoyed than helpful.
We enjoyed half of the items but you NEVER serve raw chicken. The mushroom soup is creamy and has a good taste and texture. The salad dressing for the house salad was also tasty.
The issue was we ordered 2 chicken kievs and half of them came out raw. We pointed this out to Oleg who seemed annoyed and took them back to the kitchen. He brought them back out and they had been cooked through. We found the spices very heavy and no butter in them. It was like eating plain chicken.
We also ordered Chicken Marsalla that had a good sauce and was properly cooked.
Service was slow and inattentive. It's a split decision.
As a regular customer, we found the service to be very poor
Everything was wonderful. Food is great.
The food was excellent, as always, but the service was extremely uneven, with a shared appetizer served quickly, then a LONG wait for soup, which didn't come until the entrees were almost ready to be served. They brought one soup, brought someone else an entree salad before their soup and forgot about the third soup altogether. The entrees came out within 5 minutes. Very poorly executed, despite the fact that the restaurant was not crowded. But service is not always like this and the food is always tasty, so I definitely recommend going there.
Great food. Staff is friendly.
Great food and staff, would highly recommend. The cabbage appitizer was excellent.
Needed to find a restaurant to please my dietary picky sister in law from out of town, and she was very pleased with both the quality of the food and the menu selection . I enjoyed the ethnic diversity of the menu and food and service as well. We'll be back.
Excellent food, quiet atmosphere--we went early! The portions were generous and the food was very fresh.
My husband and I met here for dinner on a Thursday night. It was moderately busy for a weeknight but we were seated right on time.
We had appetizers, soup and dinner - we were WAY too full to get a dessert. The soups were amazing - easily worth the visit. The cream of mushroom was rich and flavorful but the borscht was easily the best I've ever had. It was seasoned with just a hint of clove - someone in the kitchen has a very deft hand with spices. Next time I come in, I'll skip the appetizer and have a whole bowl of the stuff!
The cabbage they served with my dinner was delicious - again, I'd go back just for this. It was the braised cabbage - not the pickled version.
We will return - the food was great the portions generous and the service was top notch.
We celebrated two birthdays and wanted something different. I looked at the Pavilion menu online and there were several items that were described that sounded like it would be spot on for a group of six looking for something different than our usual. Amy, manager in charge was a wonderful hostess, our server was informative, made suggestions, described the items we asked about, made sure we were happy. She made sure seating was comfortable because a large group of 22 was near close to our table. They serve authentic Eastern European cuisine with American flair. Three of us had Salmon on a cedar plank with a light citrus glaze...two side selections which were different from the usual. I had red beet chips and the Pavilion salad with lime vinaigrette. The bread basket had a variety with my favorite raisin pumpernickel, and mini pretzel rolls. Others had calamari, pork medallions with homemade potato latkes, red cabbage for another. I will go back and try the Ukrainian Borscht and the Beef Stroganoff and Beef soup (heartier dishes for cold weather). Their salad selections had different combos. The Vareniky...potato pierogi looked delicious. I was able to see their variety at the table of 22...which I was also impressed with the table setting and display. After dinner, we were presented with complimentary Napoleons and honey cakes (layered with custard cream, dates and almonds. Two of the men had Espresso...served in china ...all in all a VERY Memorable experience...Highly Recommend.
We were celebrating a birthday. It was a very nice evening.
As always, a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and elegantly presented. The service was also right on.
Our group was very impressed with service and food. (Very generous portions!)
I've only been here for lunch, a few times. The food is always good, and fresh. The menu has a nice selection with lunch specials. The service was good. It's a small place inside, which makes it feel cozy and special. The food presentation makes it feel fancy. All the times I have been there it's been quiet, which is pleasant.
Great times!! We got lucky and we had the manager, Amy, be our server. She made great drinks and brought great food
I was impressed with how we were welcomed, right away, when we arrived, to celebrate Valentine's Day, 2018. Not in an annoying way, but we were asked, several times during the night, if everything was OK and if we wanted anything else. They were not there, just to push merchandise and line their pockets. I asked about an item on the menu, which looked intriguing, but was discouraged from getting it, as they said, based on what I ordered, it would be too much, and I'd probably take the bulk of it home. Not only did it save me money (I did not order it), but it motivated me to go there again, to order that item. The live music was a nice background, and not annoyingly-loud. We were not rushed to get up from our table, once the meal was over and, when we were leaving, we were given a friendly farewell. I would recommend this restaurant.
Portions were generous and food was fantastic. Took a client here for a business lunch and really enjoyed the venue and the meal. Would recommend highly.
This place is amazing. The food is great and the service is even better. Well worth the drive.
Food quality is outstanding and creative! Presentation outstanding! Everything is made fresh and it shows. One of our favorite spots. The Ahi tuna appetizer is a show-stopper. Portions are large and appetizers can easily be shared.
Fun place great menu
Great ambiance, food, bar, and service! Always a pleasure!
The Pavilion Restaurant in Northbrook, IL is a hidden gem. The food is absolutely delicious from soup to dessert. Everything we ordered was fresh and perfectly prepared. We dined early and it was not busy so we had a wonderful chance to talk with Amy Mazur, the manager who suggested dishes and who treated us like royalty. If you want to try very reasonably priced superior ethnic food, this is the place for you.

Where do i begin. First its a Saturday night at 6:30 with almost no cars in the lot. Hmmm not a good sign. We walk in and are the only patrons in the place. Hmmmm worrisome. We are seated by the hostess in a quick almost rude manner. Ok? The dining room is nice but the music was too loud and not appropriate for dinner. Ac/dc, led zeppelin etc. The waiter asks us about drinks. My fiance says she'll have an amaretto stone sour. The waiter says whats a stone sour. Ok so we change it to a diet coke and i'll have coke. He comes back with a diet coke only. He says you just wanted water right. Mind you we are the ONLY customers in the place. So he brings me my coke and says sorry thats he's worked 60 hours this week. Oh great, i love to hear that. So you cant get a drink order correct when we are the only people in the place. That doesn't bode well for the rest of the meal. So we order an appetizer, the Siberian Pelmeny. They actually we're good. The hostess, waiter and bartender twice left us totally alone in the restaurant as they went out the front door. To do what, who knows.
So for the entree, my fiance ordered the beef stew. Sorry, we are out of the beef stew she is told. Ok go on to order some other entree which was so-so. Now onto dessert, the hostess brings us the dessert menu and says we have everything EXCEPT the apple strudel. The waiter comes by after she leaves and says she was mistaken because they had just made apple strudel that morning. Great, we'll have 2 servings of apple strudel. The waiter takes our order and collects the dessert menus and disappears into the kitchen. 2 minutes later who should arrive at our table but the hostess with the dessert menus saying the waiter was INCORRECT and that they really are out of apple strudel. So we order a different dessert and can't wait to get the hell out of this place.
Service is always very good. Enjoy the varieties of food. Highly recommend
Love the creative cuisine! Features rotating cuisine from different countries that you can't find anywhere else. Their Ahi Tuna appetizer is the BEST anywhere!
Food was good , but its a bit overpriced for the ambience
Dining at the Pavilion is always enjoyable. This was the first time that we were here for lunch and the menu choices were awesome and priced under $10.00 / hard to believe considering the large portion sizes. We've been here for dinner many times and the food and service is always Superb.
We always enjoy going to the Pavilion where it is possible to have decent conversations due to low noise level. Most of their food is innovative and freshly prepared. I had the eggplant and Portobello sandwich which for me was too oily and a little too salty. Their bowl of borscht was different and very good. The other 5 people in our group also all enjoyed their dishes but the one who had the penne pasta wished it had more marinara sauce on it.
Surprised and pleased with everything about this rest.
It was very nice and very quiet.......that's a big change from all the noisy restaurants.
Restaurant empty which is scarey. Service slow but efficient. Then all there people piled in from the next room.
Quirky restaurant with interesting (eclectic) menu with emphasis on Eastern European dishes. Can get a bit loud on FRI night. Friendly service but can be quite slow and forgetful if busy. Bit on the pricey side especially considering desserts, which are tiny--just be prepared
First time dining at Pavilion, Took my wife here for date night. The food was amazing ! service was good too. The portion sizes are generous. It was hot and fresh right out of the kitchen.
WE have returned to this restaurant several times. WE just like the atmosphere and their menu.
I could tell all of the food was from scratch. Even the vegetables were well seasoned.
They were out of several items that were listed on the menu. It was depressingly quiet. Can't recommend
Amy took care of us she was wonderful and so was the staff
The food was good not very hot and the soup was served in very small bowls. Good fruit for dessert and tasteless pastries
Place is amazing. Has never failed to impress me with great service & food. Food is delicious no matter what I have ordered. The manager is friendly & I feel I am a returning family. Would recommend this place to anyone. Quality, good service & great cooking.
