We used this as part of a Groupon Date night. Had a $50 certificate and you had to spend at least $100 dollars. I order a horseradish encrusted steak. I didn't see or taste any horseradish. It was $32 just for the steak (was a nice size filet). Extra $4 for noodles. Fiance ordered Surf and Turf which was a filet and 2 small lobster tails for $38. Both tails were way over cooked and my fiance gave them both to me. Extra $6 for a salad. Tomatoes had a bad taste. I ordered an $8 bloody Mary with was about the size of a dixie cut or maybe 2 shots. No ice and tasted lousy. Too pricey.
it was a lovely atmosphere for a nice dinner. The service was great and the food was wonderful. The presentation was awesome. I would recommend this restaurant for a nice dinner. The prices were reasonable for the good quality of food.
The time it took to get the food was the longest we have ever encountered anywhere, and communication with the waitress was very difficult. The food quality and taste (once we got it) was fine, though we never got the salads we ordered. There was only one other table with people in the restaurant section! It is adjacent to their banquet place and perhaps they may have been totally focused on getting ready for an event, as we felt ignored.
Food was excellent, served promptly. Comfortable seating and quiet ambiance. My first visit to this location, but have visited the other location and have similar opinions.
Pavilion is a great find if you love eastern European cuisine. I would really recommend them for their great service and for not being pushy (that means, if you are used to 'american' service you might consider it slow, while it is, from a 'european' perspective, really letting you enjoy the food and not push you to eat up and free up the table. )
You need to try Rasputin Caviar Blini, Chicken Tabaka or Romanoff Beef Stew !! Delicious.
Food is outstanding but the service is very slow. I think the issue is the kitchen, not the wait staff. There was only one server and she had us, a party of 4, a party of two and a long table with 10. She was responsive but we had to call her over. We have been there about 4 times now. Again the food is great but the wait time for the food is really unacceptable. If you go, plan on a long meal.
The hostess was also the only waitress. Seated at 6:45. Two other tables had already been served their meals and one person at the bar was waiting for his meal. No one else in the restaurant. Waited at least 20 minutes before we could place our order and finally were served at 7:45. Had to ask for a salad to be brought out before the entree after waiting 25 minutes. Other parties arrived after us and one table got their entire meal before we received ours. One couple waited so long, they got up and left. Been here before and the food has always been very good and the service as well. Not so this time. Very disapointing experience.
Third time there. The food was again excellent. The server was overloaded and I had to chase him down. But, he was extremely nice. Took extremely long to get food. There was only one other party seated and no one in the attached banquet facility so there was no excuse for the delays. However, this has occurred on every visit. If the food was not as good as it was I would not go back.
Food overall was good, except herring (was serve without potato),
No apology from a server,
Have to look for our server( Valeria) all the time, she was more interesting in a computer and conversations with coworkers than her customers,
Another server on duty was very attentive to her customers.
This is one of our favorite restaurants! They are attached to a banquet hall so sometimes they are closed for private parties. Call ahead or use Open Table. It is very quiet/small place right(seating for maybe 25-30 people) next to Buffalo Grove Theater with ample parking. Pricing is reasonable from $11-22 for most entrees including Asian Steak. I love their bruchetta and my husband always orders HOMEMADE Cream of Mushroom soup! Fast service, white table clothes. Most of their food has Polish/Russian root. There Beef Stroganoff with sour cream my hubby who hates sour cream nearly licked the bowl clean!
We had a very pleasant experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious and of great value. Service was courteous and friendly. The service speed is not the fastest, but fits the ambiance of the restaurant. Will go there again!
Great meal and attentive service!
The service is friendly and considerate, but sometimes a little slow. Our food wasn't cold, but it should have been warmer when served. However, the food tastes delicious! I will definitely go again.
Excellent as always! We were celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. The Pavilion Buffalo Grove has a fantastic, varied menu. Food is very tasty and portions are plentiful. Our waitress, Diane, was very courteous and attentive. She readily provided helpful recommendations when asked. We have been there several times and have never experienced a rushed, crowded time which only adds to a wonderful, relaxing dining experience. Definitely worth a trip.
As always, a great choice. Came in on a Friday night to enjoy the Parmesan Crusted Skirt Steak as well as the cup of Borscht soup. Friendly hostess, attentive staff, and a wonderful server (Diane). Thank you! Will be back!
Perfect find. Food is fantastic and plentiful. Menu offers many delightful options. We had Diane as our waitress. She was very attentive and pleasant. Service was A+. Definitely worth the dining experience.
Really good food. Large portions. You will not leave hungry! Quiet. Kind of hidden. Worth the find.
Stopped into pavilion for dinner with my wife...everything was excellent. We tried the borscht which was great. My wife's lamb chops were wonderful, and my skirt steak was delicious. Service was wonderful, and very attentive/friendly staff. Will come back soon!
It was lunch time.
Only 2 tables were occupied (total 4 customers) and we told a server we are in hurry.
However, it took 30mins until meals come to our table.
Since we told our server to bring check ASAP,
she brought a check but then she went out to smoke and play with smartphone.
(she is the only server)
As she was busy smoking and did not come back, I had to stand up and come outdoor to get her to complete our credit card transaction.
Pavillion Buffalo Grove is always this slow during lunch time.
If server is not attentive and kitchen is not ready to serve LUNCH MEMU quickly,
they should not open during the lunch time.
We were so disappointed.
We do not recommend to go Pavillion during the lunch time.
Although, food was ok.
The food portion was more than adequate, the salad and soup great great, and the food presentation was high class. Definitely would come back and try other food entree.
This was our second visit to three Pavilion. The restaurant is adjacent to a banquet hall and evidently both venues share the kitchen and the staff. For both our visits the restaurant was empty. Two tables were occupied the first visit and three tables this time. When we entered the facility we had to wait about 6 minutes until any staff appeared to help us. The food quality and quantity was excellent. Three service was so slow we were tempted to just walk out. I have no idea if it was the server, the kitchen , or both. Regardless of the cause, it was a s horrible. And, because we had a coupon they even included the gratuity on the check. Use your judgement, but any establishment that treats customers the way we were treated should close.
The Chilean Sea Bass and Salmon were excellent. The server was friendly and efficient. She accommodated our requests well. It is an ala carte menu, and for them trying to build up business they should be more willing to add things to the price. They did not have White Zinfandel wine.
The inside of the restaurant is much more sophisticated than the outside parking lot, so don't be discouraged by the poorly-maintained parking lot when you first arrived. We have dined there twice during the weekday nights, enjoyed all dishes we ordered. Cream mushroom soup and calamari steak are adults' favorites. My 3-yrs old daughter loves the bread and butter there more than anything else. :-p She enjoyed the soup and seafood linguini as well. Food is of big portion and tastes great. The waitress who served us on both visits is nice, and very friendly to my little ones. The restaurant is very close to our house, but we don't hear about it until through restaurants.com. Thus I guess the PR or advertisement of the restaurant may be enhanced. :-)
Great food, good menu selection and excellent service. We ate at the Pavilion-Buffalo Grove to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary. Diane, our server, was superb....very attentive and helpful at making our dinner selections. We had Tuna Tartar for an appetizer and the cornish hen and pork chop for dinner. Cooked to perfection. We were debating between (2) choices of white wine and Diane was considerate enough to bring us a small glass of each so we could taste before ordering a bottle. Very appreciated. In recognition of our anniversary we were also treated to a slice of cheesecake for dessert. Really made us feel welcome. We had a lovely, leisurely dinner....not rushed, not ignored. This is definitely a neighborhood gem and we will definitely be returning. Suggest you give it a try.
Food is carefully prepared and delicious. Ambiance is low-key and service is outstanding. We will return.
We had reservations, but when we got there, the restaurant was closed for a private party. We were not informed of this in advance, but when we arrived, there was a sign outside indicating this was the entrance to the restaurant (it was actually a banquet hall entrance). Two young ladies approached us and told us about the private party in the restaurant, and invited us to dine in the banquet hall. There was only one other couple there @ 6:30 PM, but another couple came shortly. As we were leaving, a large group was coming in and there were several tables prepared for this banquet hall party.
The only downside was waiting for the salads we had ordered - it must have been 15-20 minutes. The food was excellent and the portion was large. Our server was very attentive, and we're sure she brought the salads as soon as they had been prepared.
It was nice evening. I love mushroom soup. Scallops were delicious, excellent presentation. Bread rolls tasted like pastries. Diane served us very well.
I would come again. However, I wish music was more suitable for dinner.
Dined at Pavilion, and it was great. The service was excellent, food was great as always. Everything was just perfect. Love this place! Will be back soon.
Wait staff were dressed as though they worked at a diner. My food was good but the place certainly didn't befit the prices. There was only one other table when we were there but I believe there was a party in the banquet room. If I wanted another good pork chop dinner perhaps I would return but I think the prices are way too high. I also had mushroom soup which was excellent.
First of all we had a coupon for dinner so we thought we would give this a shot...BTW this is our 1st Wedding Anniversary...
We went online and made a reservation because we thought it would be busy... We arrived a little late and thought we would have to wait... HOWEVER the parking lot was empty...
Hmmm I thought that was weird, Anyway we went to the entrance of the Pavilion and found out the front was tore up and we had to enter though the door of a banquet facility... So we enter the BANQUET ROOM That is turned into a so called restaurant... There was NOBODY there...
Hmmm Again... We also waited for the girl that was suppose to seat us because she was outside on the phone... WOW. She seated us and we ordered drinks... We looked at the menu which was very nice.. I was there for only 1 thing, Steak & Lobster... so drinks were brought and while sitting waiting for the waitress, 2 people or employees at the bar where talking so loudly in a foreign language is was annoying!!!
So the waitress came for our order and that's when I really lost it... THEY RAN OUT OF LOBSTER!!!
She says the customers from the banquet ate them all... So we paid for drinks and left
Would NOT recommend to anyone but my worst enemy...
Food was pretty good and the price is right. Unfortunately the service is way under par. 2 waitresses to take the order and it was still wrong, but it took so long to come i didn't want to tell them to correct the situation. The staff kept apologizing for it being slow because they were swamped(a total 16 people, I counted). But again, the food was pretty tasty
Pavilion located in Buffalo Grove (next door to BG Theatre) is an excellent restaurant. My wife and I enjoyed everything about it. The venue is quite small, but very intimate and cozy. The menu has a variety of flavorful cuisine varying from Eastern European foods, Asian foods, to American foods. The place also has a full stocked bar with a separate drink menu with more than 20 different cocktails, a variety of beer, and wine as well.
Service was excellent, ambiance was perfect, we give it 5 stars and highly recommend!
there was a banquet hall next door that they catered so ignored the people in the restaurant. good foof but we were there over 3 hours! And most of the time waiting....
We went here for our anniversary. The food was awesome! Especially the sea bass. There were not many other people dining there and it is small and quiet, so not a place to go if you are looking for excitement. But overall a good meal and place to spend time with th hubby.
Good tasty fresh food. Fast and Friendly profesional service.
My favorite restaurant, love it for food, atmosphere.... For everything
I went on a weekday for lunch with my wife, and we were the only ones there. The server/hostess was quick to greet us, but I guess she forgot to turn off the TV at the bar for the entire duration of our stay. The food was very good, well cooked, very nice presentation. The place is visually appealing on the inside, but not precisely on the outside. I guess I could've asked her to turn the TV off, but it was just a slight nuisance.
We had the fry calamari for appetizer and for entree my wife had the sea food linguini and I had the Griiled Chilean Seabas.
Everything was delicious.
wonderful food--one of the best tasting and biggest piece of salmon I ever had which has always been my favorite meal. great piano music made conversation very easy.
My family and I dined here on December 6th, and our dinner was outstanding! The place is small and cozy with a full bar. We shared a few appetizers which were all excellent. We got the Calamari, Eel Seaweed Wrap, and Bruschetta. Delicious! My husband and I split the skirt steak as an entree, while my kids split the seafood linguine. Overall, the entrees were excellent. Service was great as well! 5 stars!
